If the players have had their say, and assuming RG is too hot to handle then if he has had a change of mindset then Ciaran Meenagh.

Heard he left the Down post last night.

So someone + Meenagh?
Meenagh would be a huge plus point.
I wonder how long until we hear who the someone is?

What next for Paddy Tally? This year prob didnt do him any favours in terms of getting another managerial post.

Hearing player driven too. Muppets

You heard nothing,no one would speak to a melter like ye

Fpr the grown men in the thread, be interesting to see who is lined up. I'd definitely have kept Tally on for a 2nd year. But has been said,Tally was arranging his backroom team for next season....

Wildweasel74

Didn't see that coming, as i seen nobody else out there, any other season he been gone after the results but u gonna have somebody  there to replace him. Another run around farce like last yr suits nobody.

Wildweasel74

If Meenagh left Down, I say they looking at Gilligan and Meenagh. Don't know why they didn't just drop Meenagh into Tally bck room team for next year.

Only one man for the job
Gallagher
Get it done

APM

Derry's management merry go round has been a circus and this hard on Tally. But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and ponder whether they have lined up Conleth Gilligan?

Wildweasel74

They should dropped Gilligan and Meenagh into his bckroom team and see where Tally got next year. I didn't want Tally this year but Derry county board made a mess of a appointing a manager, surely it's not a re run again this Autumn.

There's no way they dropped a man without having someone lined up, a 10 year old would have that amount of common sense

doh827

The wording at the end of the statements for when harte left vs when tally left.

Harte

"A process will now be put in place for the appointment of a new Senior Football Management team."

Tally

"An announcement on a replacement Derry senior football manager will be made in due course."

Sounds like they maybe have someone for the job

They didn't have anyone lined up last year when they dropped Harte. Hard on Tally due to the fiasco in appointing him and he bailed the county out when no one else was willing. They seemed to have worked out the new rules in the last few games and maybe with a chance to select his own squad could have had a good run at it. Against is no wins and the possibility you are loyal and end up Division 3.

I would be shocked if it's not Rory Gallagher. Odds on in my book, this has most likely been cooking for months.

Which would be extremely harsh on Paddy Tally who most definitely got a proper tune out of you in the last few matches and looked to have molded something very solid to build on.

A few lads on here saying that Tally got a tune out of us is a mighty stretch. Did you watch Derry this year? We didn't win a game all year and our performances were pretty awful up until the group stages. Tactics were questionable all year, and in all honesty we were second best in most games. I also didn't see him take much ownership for the performances when speaking publicly, he was blaming fitness at one point which I don't buy, some honestly in what was going wrong was needed.

But I am still a bit surprised we didn't keep him, more for continuity than anything else. It was said in this forum that backroom changes were needed at the very minimum. Maybe he didn't like that being forced upon him, who knows. I really just hope we have someone lined up now and ideally put in place before the all Ireland final.

Some names that come to mind; C Gilligan, C Meenagh, J Horan, D Farrell, P McMahon, T McEntee. I think we need this sorted asap to avoid the nonsense of last year. Let's see what happens.

Might explain the lack of a Championship draw a month out from it
