Not old enough to remember this Storm but there were gusts of 113 mph recorded at Malin Head:

Storm now tracking north-east, which is why the 6 counties are now red. Wexford should escape the worst of this.

Most supermarkets now closing too. Will be chaos in the shops tonight.

i was talking to a neighbour here and she said she doesn't understand why it's not being said - it's a hurricane coming.

I'm sure there's a geeky answer that explains it. Is it to do with what latitude it forms at or something.

Predicted to be the worst storm since 1998 back then it took many days for power to be restored in places.  I remember pubs stayed open without power and had candles on the table.
