Why do both Met Eireann and UTV do this?

It looks stupid.

Things like weather and railways should All Ireland bodies, it is time that there is some progress on this type of practical matter, the wind does not change at the border.

That's an excuse, not a reason.

So their satellite coverage or whoever provides it has a Northen Ireland border implanted in it?

It's a conscious decision to do this for no apparent reason that would make sense.

I know plenty of farmers and builders who use Met Eireann for their weather outlook.

Last Man

Met office does the same, ridiculously petty!

The respective met office issue a coverage of the warnings and these stop at the border.
What will anyone do about it? At least met.ie have the NI stuff mentioned on their site, if not on their maps.

Do yous not cringe a bit coming out with stuff like this? It's skin to unionists taking offence at being excluded from the motherland.

I'm good now as Barra Best has explained it.

It's the first Red Weather Warning issued for the North since the Met Office moved to impact-based warnings back in 2011.

Not sure when it was introduced in 2011 but I do remember a very bad storm in January 2012 that blew tiles off our roof.

Can also mind this one in 1998:
