Gary Coleman as long as RG isn't the manager.

I heard he left, could be wrong... I think he should at the very least be considered for the Derry Manager role. He should have been asked to interview / been offered the job after RG left if MOR declared himself out of the running.

Massive difference between being a good coach (which meenagh undoubtedly is) and being a good manager of people. Two completely different skill sets which people confuse a lot, especially in relation to Gaelic football management.

Totally agree. But I would contend that Meenagh is both. He's hugely respected and regarded as very personable wherever he has worked. I think he can manage the person behind the player as well as anyone linked with the job.

surely if he is available he has been approached? roughly 3 weeks to county team can train collectively, can only hope its being sorted behind scenes.

Sounds like Enda Muldoon is going to be the man to step up

You hearing that JE? First I've heard that but Enda has been there since RG first took over and knows the strengths of this panel. He's also very well liked within the squad also. His knowledge and football brain be second to none. Be interested to see if it is Enda what sort of backroom team he can assemble to help him out as he's obviously never managed a cohnty side before. Would love Meenagh back as few of the above posters have mentioned. A ticket with Enda and Ciaran Meenagh would be excellent.

The Trap

Very tough job now for whoever it is.

Division One is as tough as can be.

Championship draw is as tough as can be.

Going to be well behind every other county in terms of preparation.

The tried and trusted team has a lot of issues.

Odhran Lynch Conor Mccluskey Paudie McGrogan Niall O'Loughlin spent a lot of the last year injured, several players were out of form for clubs and there are rumours that some are quitting the county.

Only Rory could turn it round.

Not sure if he's the right man but maybe if he has a good backroom team he can do well. He is a Derry legend though and if he gets the job I'll be supporting him.

Enda has been about the panel for a while and I'm sure has learned a lot, but it would big a huge step up to be the man in charge.
Has he ever managed a club team?
There'd be no doubting his commitment or anything like that, and if true he could turn out to be class....but it is also a risk.

As for Meenagh, he was offered the role post RG and declined. He's a teacher and didn't want to leave his job for a manager job, couldn't blame him for that.
Would have been my choice from the start when RG went.

Any person coming in now is a risk.

Including Harte, it's been some mess.

Did Harte go or was he pushed?

I find it all strange that Derry won he league really well and looked set to challenge for a third Ulster, then the wheels can off very quickly.

Portugal aside, you'd wonder what happened and why things changed so quickly and drastically.

It'd be interesting to read the performance review of the year - I presume there's one done? Even in Derry's case, an independent review of the year where they could speak to everyone involved privately.

Fair play to the Derry supporters for being decent enough to support the new man in charge.

Yeah managed banagher in 2018 and won the championship with them, think mullahoran beat them in ulster. Shortly after that he was appointed in Rory Gallaghers back room team. No doubting his credentials at all. A genius on the pitch and no doubt with the right structure around him the players would respond to him. Backroom team would be key. Pity the Co. Board wouldn't be doing all in their power to get meenagh back and an offer to Conelth gilligan. Surely to god he'd be tempted if the right structure was there.
