By a rough count over half of last years panel is either is still playing football, hurling or out with long term injury, around 2/3 of the starters wouldn't be able to train.

Aye, mid to late October is the time to be doing the managerless sessions after most of the players been hard at it since last year / Jan. And where did this training take place without a squad in place and minus a few clubs?

It was an s&c session with last years s&c coach, even though he may not be involved this year.

Glen, Ballinderry, Newbridge and Slaughtneil hurlers weren't in attendance.

Would have been a small attendance as there would be at least 12 players involved in those 4 clubs, and Derry only had a panel of around 30 last year.

Cahair reporting that a few more men ruled out. Barry Dillon would've been a good choice, he's experienced at county level and he's worked with elite players at UUJ. Not sure where we're headed now.

We have to cast a management panel together on here lol. O'Kane not doing Derry any favours running the same line every 2 weeks in the Irish News.

Entering week 18 since Mickey Harte stepped down as manager, now into Novemeber with most counties already having selected panels for next season and S&C programmes probably already started and Derry still have not appointed anyone. The rumour is the Co. Board already have their man selected and that man is currently still involved with a club. So let's try narrow that down as we are now into provincial championship and narrows the field. 1. LACEY (publicly said he hasn't been approached)
2. Enda mcginley (has supposedly said not interested) 3. Ronan devlin (publicly said not approached) 4. Declan bonner (please god no) 5. Ruairi lavery clann eirean 6. Ryan daly crosserlough 7. David mckeague scotstown  Is there anyone else out there ?? Unless lacey is calling a bluff

If your theory is correct, and I think it could be. How do you feel about a manager coming in to Derry who has never managed a county team before? Or has no real track record at that level? It would appear to be highly risky.

To be honest I'm not sure how I feel. The fact we couldn't entice some of the big names to manage us is baffling but that's the situation we find ourselves in. Of all the above LACEY is the one who excites me. He was very highly rated in Donegal, fell out with con board and left as he was unhappy with resources being put into underage structures. Time will tell though how this pans out but surely there needs to be an announcement over the next week or so. If we wait for kilcoo..ulster final around mid December if they make it that far.. surely if he was the man we wouldn't wait that long naming him considering league starts end January and teams will undoubtedly be training by then?

Baker Bradley fits this criteria, All Saints Ballymena play in Ulster at the weekend. Maybe a joint ticket with Paddy.

Can only hope Derry have something sorted at this stage surely? Teams beginning to train soon and panels being put in place. if it is a club manager and he goes deep into ulster/All Ireland phase how long are we really willing to wait to announce this?

Was Johnny McBride not offered it recently? Would that not point to that they still haven't got their man? Shambles anyway, County Board have seriously let down a talented group of players & the new manager will be fighting an uphill battle

I definitely wouldn't be pinning all the blame on the Co Board for this

That we're managerless atm? Maybe the players who went behind management's back, you know, the reason Harte / Devlin left
