Surely the Dutch will beat the English. England have been terrible but have somehow got through to this stage.

The English also have played 2 extra time games which should help tire them out.

Jell 0 Biafra

I dunno, it's not like they played above walking pace either time.

England have been awful to watch but keep finding a way to win. I would rate the Dutch about the same as Switzerland so would not be overly surprised if England found a way to reach the final

Yup.

We are currently on course for the worst game of football in history in the final.
if england and France both win just go straight to penos save everyone a couple hours.

Tony Baloney

I recall Greece being something similar when they won it. Mixed bag in their group and 1-0 wins in the knockout stages.

Portugal 2016 too drew three group games.

Whether Martinez can get the best out of them is another question.

And is Ronaldo a hindrance?
That turned out to be prophetic

He was complete pants, but what country will drop a striker who's scored 10 goals in the qualifying groups? Yes, they had handy teams in their group as do other big countries, but there would have been some Portuguese backlash had he not been involved or starting from their media.

I've said before the guys marmite and if he was chocolate he'd eat himself.
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Captain Obvious

In the Copa América Brazil out and Canada into the semi finals.

And they went straight to penalties after 90 minutes, no extra time

Quote from: jcpen on July 06, 2024, 09:57:49 PMHard luck to the Turks but Holland probably better placed to beat England.
Was Gakpo given the goal? Looked like an OG to me.

Turkey have never beaten England in 11 attempts losing 9 of those games. Holland have a slightly better head to head with 7 wins v 6. There were also 9 draws. The Dutch definitely pose the better threat overall out of the 2 in knocking England out.

Even if Martinez didn't have the balls to drop him, leaving him in the full 120 mins, again, with him, again, completely failing to impact the game, is absolutely criminal.

He's almost certain to keep going as well.

France v Spain coming up. What way will this one go? I don't like the match up of Mbappe against 38 year old Navas. It could be bad for Spain. Apart from that I would fancy Spain to win this one.

AustinPowers

1-0 Spain,  with a late goal. Maybe a penalty
