How he's had Belgiums golden generation of Talent and now Portugals after stinking out the Prem with Wigan/Everton for years is one of life's mysteries

Yeah, how the heck did he get them gigs with Belgium and Portugal.....after being with Wigan and Everton?

Is it just me or has the Euros been a bit shit? No stand out teams so far and despite some top players involved no one has been really outstanding.

Spain?

The Champions League is where it is at. The top players play the n the CL. Players of mixed ability represent their country. Clubs can buy a decent Striker, left back or goalkeeper to solve their problems. At international level you can't do that. You have to make do with what is available or find a work around.

There is a lowering tide at international level and this has filtered from the top teams down to the lesser lights (ROI).

Bar the England group games and France/Belguim most games have been entertaining.

A competition to find out who's the best of average lot and why England still can't be ruled out.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

No stand out teams; Spain look good but probably lose to Germany. Portugal, England, France for all the talent look average enough.

Some save from Oblak on Ronaldos penalty- his one in the shootout was as close to unsaveable as you'll get. Pepe and Ronaldo owe Costa one big time- unreal from him making that 1v1 save and then to save first 3 penalties has it ever been done?

I'd definitely not rule out England based on what I've seen. Remember Greece!

When the dust settles you have Spain, Germany, England, France, Portugal all in the quarter finals..

Italy been the biggest disappointment and Belgium to a degree, they'd have been still in had they won their group.

Pepe hugged and hugged Costa after the Penalties. He dug him out this evening.

It has to be said that when Portugal won the Euro's in 2016 that Ronaldo also stunk the place out and Portugal only pushed on when he was out of the team due to injury.

Martinez will be hoping for something similar as he hasn't the balls to drop him.

Slovenia had their chances to win that game outright before it got to penalties but they've given everyone a template on how to beat Portugal, isolate Pepe and make him run towards his own goal.

Costa in goals was something else all the same.

There is no doubt that he is more of a hinderance than a benefit, that's obvious, he's actually trying to hard.

That said he had 4 or more shots on target in that game, his penalty save in extra time was superb, that ball was hitting the inside netting, in fact it was saved and pushed onto the post.

Martinez will not drop him, just won't happen, same way he won't drop Pepe, but that's not being talked about
