Harsh ruling out that Dutch goal? Would the French keeper have got there, I doubt it.
SHOCKING REVELATIONS!!!

bennydorano

Tough decision on the Dutch there, that keeper was going down as fast as Shilton in 1990

AustinPowers

France are very  ordinary without Mmmboppe

weareros

For two nations known for their flair, that was all a bit agricultural.

Capt Pat

To me the goalkeeper was clearly impeded in going for the ball. I don't know what took var so long.

In the BBC studio they all think that goal should have stood.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Nobody on the bbc agrees with me but what do Rooney, Shearer, Fabregas and Lineker know about football?

AustinPowers

A french player is  yet to score

Even Scotland have scored  more goals than France.

bennydorano

Is Capt Pat a member of the Goalkeeper ls Union by any chance? Bad decision.

SouthOfThe Bann

Unlikely that the French keeper would have saved it.

But the correct decision was made. The offside player clearly impeded the goalkeeper.

AustinPowers

Surely the  Austrian player kicked Chesney (I can't spell Szczesny) in the head for  that penalty?

Jell 0 Biafra

It doesn't really matter whether the keeper was never getting to the ball. His ability to try was impeded by an offside player.  Cut and dry, imo. Not sure what took VAR so long to agree with the on-field ruling.

True. But diving is an accepted part of the game and diving to win a penalty is respected by the refs and players alike.

Bar Fabregas the brain cells would be in short supply there...

100% correct.

I called it in realtime - whimsically because let's be honest realtime is deceptive - but once the linesman put up his flag they should have just got on with it.

English referees just don't seem able to to trust their judgement, or their co-official's judgement.
