Ignorance is bliss enjoy it. Éire doesn't exist. Proove otherwise and I will gladly be educated.

Oh yeah, I remember Maggie Thatcher making reference to it, did you learn your Geography from her?
Maybe it's somewhere west of the Republic of Ireland.

Benedict Kiely, Hugh Alexander Auchinleck, Niall of the Nine Hostages, Shane O'Neill (no, not the gaaboard one!   ), Hugh O'Neill, all the rest of the O'Neill Gaelic Chieftains -- the very last in Éire to be subdued/squashed by the Gall, Gray's Printer people, etc., etc.

Éire, where exactly is that?

Why would the 3rd coming of Sir John be any different than the 2nd coming of his compadre Johnno. Surely what we need is a clean slate, new ideas, and (Dear Santa) the Co Board to back off and give one of our own some breathing room to develop a squad over a few years without hype and expectation. We have the talent at minor and U'21 coming through, leave it to one man and HIS selectors to do a job over a 3 year period.
Forget about Johns and Mickos. They have all chuckied their lá's.

Well done to the minors.Galway have one or two who will make it through to the senior panel by all accounts. 3 in a row is great stuff.

To be honest, i can't see us beating Sligo, and that's not smart arse talk. Not enough forwards in Ros scoring consistently .Much too dependent on Shine.I feel that centre half back and centre half forward are two unresolved positions. Neither Dineen or Garvey are up to it in those positions.

If there is a banana skin in it for Sligo, it could be complacency. The mood throughout Sligo may well be, that having already beaten Mayo and Galway, surely they aren't going to blow it against Roscommon.
Thoughts and expectation like that can bring their own pressures and mental burdens.
Can't see Kevin Walsh letting that happen though.

Already on this thread, someone mentioned Sligo beating Ros by 0-20 to 0-13 in the final League game in Markievicz Park.
It might be worth noting that Ros were without a lot of their championship team that day.

If i remember correctly, David Casey, Cathal Cregg and Karol Mannion were all injured , whilst Donie Shine, Kevin Higgins, , Paul Garvey and a few other panel members were rested as they had an All Ireland U-21 Semi Final the following weekend.

Sligo on the other hand were practically at full strength as they needed to win to ensure qualification for the Division 3 Final.

I think it's Sligo's final, but i don't expect Ros to go down without a fight, and it could be a lot closer than many people think.

Yes, Sligo beat Galway and Mayo. But how good are the current Galway and Mayo teams. Don't forget that Longford (Division 4) have also subsequently beaten Mayo, so maybe Sligo's win over Mayo could be very slightly devalued after that.
This is definitely the poorest Galway team of the last 13 or 14 years which should also be factored into any honest analysis.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not pouring cold water on Sligo's achievements in any way. They have been superb, and fully deserve their place in the final, and will justifiably start as favourites.

But they might do well to now forget about Galway and Mayo. Roscommon will be a different kind of challenge for them, where they must also cope with the tag of ''warm favourites''.

The final will be a new game, and nothing that happened against Mayo or Galway will count when the ball is thrown in at the start of the Connacht Final.

Congratulations to Sligo and the best of luck to Galway in the qualifiers. Great steel by Sligo in the last 10 minutes, no reason they can't go another few steps. Well done to our minors today, keep it up lads.

In all fairness to WJ he's like the backbone of the Mayo supporters, his audio boo just reflected the low point that all of us are feeling this evening. I'm sure if you read his report tomorrow it will relect Longfords superiorety. He's not a man given to me fein ism.

FFS don't call any other county shite. Longford lads slogged it out in the cold of winter just like our lads. If you have an axe to grind, grind it at home. Well done Longford. Enjoy.

Well done Longford, this one was along time coming after close calls with Kerry twice and Dublin. Enjoy this and the best of luck.

Firstly my heartfelt congratulations to Sligo and Kevin Walsh, what a plan and what a performance. The very best of luck for the rest of the season and there is no reason why you can't go all the way.
As for our shower of slobberers, firstly there is no longer any place for a johnno sit on the fence, he must and has to go, more importantly he must be replaced by someone who has the power to make the tough calls. How can so many players have regressed in the last 3 or 4 years. It's unheard of in other counties. We have a 2006 U'21 panel and a panel of minors from 2008 & 2009 for whom most counties would die for. Finger out, JOM gone, let's change the whole thinking.

Aidan O'Shea drew 5 soft frees in Cork which most other refs wouldn't give. He was at the same crack today and it didn't work. Even going back to minor his refusal to lay off the ball has cost us dearly. Enough of a rant on Aidan he did his best. Hopefully we will learn alot from today. We never seem to learn anything from the games we win, or loose by a tight margin, hence the necessary changes have not being made. I was well impressed with Chris Barrett in both the games against Cork, it's more of him we need.
I know there is alot of pessimism out there tonight, but hopefully lessons will be learned by thoses who need them most.
