What's the story here with Ronan McGuckin and Errigal.  How does he walk away and come back if Errigal beat his own club?  Why is he not at least at training preparing his team to take part in the Ulster Championship.  Looks like Enda McGinley isn't too pleased about it according to the piece in the paper today.  If Errigal are beaten how will he regain the respect of the players when he returns for league playoffs?  Chris Lawn trained Cookstown the week up to the Moortown match.  He sat on the bench throughout the game.  He left the field with the full respect of both teams.  Legend!  As for McGuckin his credibility is finished in Tyrone.
Having informed the errigal club of his intentions before being appointed I fail to see how they can complain about it having ended the o neill drought for some years.
If he did manage the team against his own club and lost by a point the accusations would be flyin too ,
hats off to McGuckin for stickin to his guns pity every clubman hadnt the same heart for his own club.
Cant see errigal gettin past Ballinderry regardless of who walks the line but you never know.

I see Derryluaghan won the u-14 Championship, unreal scoreline.  I have noticed them racking up scorelines like this regularly the past while, has there ever been a team that has been so far ahead at under-age?  Were they doing this at u-16 or Minor (at grade 2?) level this year or last or was that some other team?

I've been keeping a wee eye to Derrylaughan's U14s results this year myself. Last year their U13s were in grade 2, and we 'held them' to a 1-3 to 7-17 defeat. We said at the time that it would be interesting to see how they fared at grade 1 U14 the following year. I think the results show that they were badly graded lasy year. However even at that, that's some scores they are clocking up this year.

Probably the handiness of it is doing them little favours.

A request was made to the powers that be last year to be in Grade 1 having defeated carrickmore by 30points in a challenge game  long before the leagues started but the request was turned down despite the protests of the club.
Alot of hard work is being done to bring these lads to where they are and congrats on a totally deserved double!

stewartstown v coalisland (u-16 grade 1 semi) ended in draw last night at derrylaughan.
the game finished about 8.25pm but it was obviously getting dark at stage.
the ref rang someone in county board to see if extra time should be played, but was informed not to play it.
if extra time is supposed to be played in these games then why isn't it factored into the starting time?
throw-ins should be 6.30/6.45pm at venues that don't have proper lights.
Derrylaughan has a fully lit playing field but the seniors were training same time clar, agree though these things are controllable if proper consideration given also on a seperate not see the under 14 grade 1 final is down for a Monday evening what sort of a night is this to play a final could this not have been pencilled in for a sat befoer a big game or that total disrespect to the Grade. Just get these fixtures outa the way!

Congrats Derrytreask - Along with the Craigbane contingent I was cheering them on.
Delighted to see them win and disappointed to see Craigbne lose. Thats football.

However, I only saw the last 25 mins of the game and didnt see the first half or the melee that happened during it.
The second half I would have to slightly disagree with the account on Declan O'sullivan.
He was getting OTT attention from his marker and any Derrytreask player that he went past - they were holding, pulling , blocking his runs and that was all off the ball.
Most teams would try to do the same to such a superb player though - so that tactic while not pretty is expected. OSullivan didnt do much more than push these men off and away.
'Handbags' is the phrase I'll use but not for the last time.
What I didnt like was the whole 'trash talking' craic that is creeping into Gaelic games. I dont like seeing it in yankee sports, It has gotten into English soccer and now rugby so its dreadful to see a GAA player rub his opponents head or pat him on the back or even offer a 'high five' to an opponent (first time I ever saw that one was yesterday) after he loses the ball of gives away a free.
Indeed after the final whistle, I was sitting beside the tunnel and Declan osullivan was heading towards it and the derytreask midfielder who was substituted near the end was running in to celebrate and just started in osullivans face. DOS pushed him roughly out of the way and when he turned to face the tunnel again, he got a handbag into the head from a small fat 'manly' 'woman'. DOS looked like he was about to strike back when he copped it was not a man - he then received another handbag to the head and he pushed her aside and tried to carry on towards the tunnel.
Another big hefty jampot glasses 'woman' with a big fuzzy head of grey hair then tried to accost him and a crowd surrounded him and they were trying to get at him with mrs handbag still swinging her weapon around as some of her own supporters tried to hold her back. the initial accoster - the Derrytreask midfielder - tried to get back to have a go at DOS during this but couldnt get to him. DOC eventually broke free and got away into the dressing room .the mini melee ended shortly after this.
A great win and well deserved but jeez lads, graciousness in victory is part of the game too !
I was a bit embarrassed by it to be honest, as a northern Gael.
:D :D :Dvery wellworded lynchboy .Anyone from the hill care to enlighten us on this handbag toting sniper :D :D

One one hand we have the Carrickmore club volunteering the move of a large piece of GAA heritage over 100mile up the road for people to sit down in and watch any brawls that may erupt through their execution of our great game and on the other hand we see the club pay out large sums for their employees to manage their adult teams. It's great to see a club with such a diverse perspective of the GAA and its culture and the importance heaped upon the volunteer to the strength of our organisation.

Such a club being what it is it's not a surprise that it seems to dominate the entries on this forum

Written like a true professional. You should take up journalism for a profession my friend ;)
A good write up in todays Irish Independent about the mercenary men and clubs breaking rules paying managers.A great piece and one actually worth thinking about the contradictions and hypocrisy so rife in our association .
The place is full of money grabbing managers , media types ,involved in college football all under the pretence of being football mad , don't be fooled these people are only interested in money .There seems to be a glut of them around the Derry border !!
Sounds like someone nots happy bout not gettin the senior job ::)

Won't matter what it looks like from below/above or whatever. What it is in reality is a white elephant which will be a drain on clubs resources, many of which are struggling to survive already

Dirty action by ryan mcmenimin today in tunnell at half time headbutting MMckinless!Didnt look as brave when Nial McCusker had a chat aafter game.

Typical Mc Menamin.  Manly?  No chance.
How many times are you going to post this on different threads.  According to Omagh stewards your story is completely wrong and it was McKinless who stuck McMenamin and then he got a few nice digs back as a reward, classy manager!!!
Not a chance was talking to martin after it no matter wat you say !McMenimin was in no way being interfered with when he headbutted trying to change the attitude of a fairly clean game , always was a curr and always will be! Should stick to playin ball and shut his mouth also!

And what exactly did you expect St. Martin to say?  He was hardly going to admit running up behind an opposition player and hitting him a box?  I'm no fan of Dromore and the Omagh officials certainly would not be so I hve no reason to doubt them.

No matter what you think of Ricey, it is totally unacceptable for an opposition manager to strike a player on the opposite team like that.  Dromore got rid of McGinn for a similar incident and if Ballinderry have any respect they will do something similar.

Bt the way I thought it was a wonderful game of football but until Tyrone County Board gives the Tyrone champions the backing and respect they deserve, Tyrone teams will never succeed in this competition.  Absolute joke for the Tyrone chairman / Micky Harte's puppet to come out in the papers saying it would be great for a Tyrone team to win the Ulster Club again and then not back them to give them a bit os space between the games.  Apparantly both Clonoe and Dromore asked to get the Ulster Club game put back a week several weeks ago, but they got no backing from the county board, yet Micky Harte can get 3 or 4 weeks with his players between championship games.
Aye that would be right lets take a look at the two characters in question Matin mckinless is a gentleman and then mcmenimin? well i suppose it wouldnt be his form to antagonise anyone !! ???Catch a grip man !
