Serious early warning for Mayo.

Today we brought on a man who was probably the reason Conor Mortimor was dispensed with (I know he walked), the same man who got on against the Dubs ahead of Richie Feeney and who is apparently viewed as better than Evan Regan.

He may be the greatest ladeen west of Moscow but he has had many chances more than anyone else and has not delivered.

We have seem to have learned very little and I fear this may be a wasted year, certainly it may be a wasted League.

And I am normally the optimist.  ::)

Yeah, thought he struggled against Tyrone last year. Looked a rookie when he came on (he's now 27 and should be above that). Could not believe he got a run in the AI final. But sure so many mad decisions happened that day.

That what I mean about learning very little.

Maybe it's soft landing stuff, having a final look to confirm a doubt?

Not worried about today's result. The FBD has been a poisoned chalice to win. Putting an almost impossible onus on teams to go to the US when the inter county season is over to play the final. Feck sake we lost last year to Leitrim. Clearly today was all about looking at positions and players, the result was secondary. Our performances in the last four games of the League are what I'll be looking at!

Mayo / Re: Mayo Football and Hurling - Discussion pages

Yeah the Johnno years were a waste bar getting out of the way the 'Give the Messiah the job'. Johnno was pushed into rather than taking the job. This is never a good thing! Anyway between players being still a bit young on the development curve, being played out of position and Johnno not giving the required commitment we ended up with allot of players getting lost or not being found in the first place.

I know we are not talking about club All Ireland's, but how about Paul Hearty, 1997 and 2015?

And we are especially not talking about AI titles that have not been won yet!  :-[

O'Rourke and Spillane backing Galway to beat Mayo in the Championship last summer. Game was over after 15 minutes. Brolly who picked Mayo spent the half time break teasing the two pundits as they tried to rationalise their prediction.

How much did he originally cost?

The transfer fee Porto announced was €30 million,[19] which was equivalent to around £20 million as of July 2007.[20]

Money well spent!  ;D

Translated they underachieved.

To say that any team that won their County's first All Ireland underachieved, after the run that they had, is fatuous at best.

They were the most feared team in Ireland for nearly 10 years, and while winning their first and so far only Sam Maguire is what they will be remembered for, 7 Ulster championships in 10 years is a feat only matched by Down (starting in '59) in the modern era. Though to be fair, I don't see Cavan's 29 wins in 41 years (from 1915) being beaten anytime soon...

In Fairness the back door came at the worst time for Armagh. Can you imagine how much more they would have won if there had been a front door only?

Jez, this thread was re-opened four months later to tell us that? Feck, what stone have you been hiding under? What if Cillian had not dislocated his shoulder, Andy had not done his cruciate the year before, if Cunniffe ad not done his hamstring n the final, if Barry Moran, Jason Doherty and Conroy were not injured for most of the year and 100% match fit, if our goalkeeper Clarke had not done his knee, if Rob Hennelly had not come for the ball for Brogans goal, If Cillian had gone for goal instead of a point with the last kick. What if, what if, what if?

I enjoy the auld Darts. The two Worlds are great this time of year. But unlike Snooker where you have a real Champion. You are left with two lads here looking over their shoulder when the name World champion is bandied about for the year!

Johnson is playing very poorly of late. I presume he's fit so I fear he might be in a huff about his new contract and how Liverpool want him to reduce his wages. He'd doing nothing to be worth that wage at the moment anyway. Either way he doesn't seem focused on his game right now.

Cissohko is a bombscare at LB. I know he's only 3rd choice but Charlie Adam was going past him for fun today and Charlie has the turning circle of an oil tanker.

I think the revolving door at centre-half has to end eventually. We seem to have a new partnership in there every game and it can't be helping Mignolet either. I know Sakho and Agger are not fit but once they are I think Rodgers has to decide what his best partnership is and stick with it.

Talk is of him going to Arsenal? Talk of him not happy with contract. This talks has to be affecting what ever is left of his game. Knowing Wenger he probably has not interest but wants to upset the apple cart!

Hate watching games like. Had the 2 cubs in round me pestering me and just couldn't relax through a combination of Stoke looking dangerous and our shit the knickers approach to defending!

Finally chilled out when Sturridge scored.

That was a just win after the rest of the results this wkd, Villa up next and then the bitters in the derby. Feel sick thinking about that one already.

Yeah, was in the same boat myself. Nothing worse than a Sunday afternoon game, it's pissing outside, the kids in and out looking for attention and a game like that. Did not know my arse from my elbow till Sturridges goal let me chill!

FT Mayo 2-8 IT Sligo 1-11 Freeman penalty levels it.

A draw, Mayo's only score of the second half a goal from a penalty!
Evan Regan with 0-8 also made the goal missed another two. Had a point to prove today by the looks of it.

T'is Gas the way it is in the FBD that you get to be possibly happy about a player on the opposition side having a blinder?
