That Crouch goal was one of the goals of the season, the build-up was fantastic.

GAA Discussion / Re: Leinster/Kildare question

The PBS in Newbridge, the CBS in Naas, Coláiste Chiaráin in Leixlip and Scoil Mhuire Community School in Clane have competed over the years in the A section but none of these schools have won it and often float between A and B. Patrician's would be the strongest and have an All-Ireland B title to their name backed-boned by Niall Buckley and Anthony Rainbow.

GAA Discussion / Setanta Rate County Web Sites
January 24, 2007, 05:21:41 PM
Well, we've rated the GAA's sites county-by-county and the results bear little in common with their respective on-field performances.

Tommy Murphy Cup runners-up Leitrim and All-Ireland SFC Qualifier Round One departees Antrim are the best maintained and visually enticing websites, while All-Ireland football champions Kerry have not updated their site since claiming the Sam Maguire Cup in autumn.

We have analysed each county website and given ratings based on their e-communication structure, site appearance, regularity of updates, local and national news diet and other useful features.

The sites have then been placed accordingly in a four-division league, similar to the structure the 2008 National Leagues will take.

Antrim have arguably the best website alongside Leitrim's. The Saffron site has all its club league tables and updates results via the clubs who are obligated to text in scores to a hotline where all the information is collated.

During the championship there were updates on county teams and panels, a diet of national news and a photo gallery.

It also has a special feature - which other counties would do well to copy - a forum is available to users whereby they can question an administration team on a wide range of topical issues.

Tyrone's site, meanwhile, could well challenge the top two in 2007. It has been recently launched and avails all the latest in terms of flash plug-ins etc and a lovely map showing where all the clubs are located. So there are no excuses for being late games.

Counties like Donegal and Derry, have made it into the top tier primarily as a result of their regularity of updates and volume of information, but their aesthetic features somewhat detract from the overall product.

Kerry would have secured a place in Division One but for the fact that once the championship was sown up, information dried up. Perhaps it was overloaded by a 34th All-Ireland crown.

A number of counties would effectively be better off not having a site so bad is their offering. If we play a name and shame game, the likes of Westmeath, Waterford, Cork and even All-Ireland hurling champions Kilkenny are all in dire need of a complete makeover.

London's website, meanwhile, was shut down over abuse received on its discussion forum. While it can still be accessed it has not been updated in months.

Quote"Almost as soon, I saw and heard a group of Ulster supporters, arms up, singing 'Brennan your mother is a whore lalalala'. At this stage, I approached this group, who threw beer at me. Some supporters told me not to pay attention to what they were saying. One said: 'I'm sure your mother is not like that'.

Understandable Trevors reaction, at least he knows he crossed the line. Would like to see sanctions imposed on those Ulster supporters chanting such vile. Reading the Leinster, Munster and Gwlad (Welsh Rugby) boards it looks like Ulster supporters are getting quite a bad rep, probably a minority but it seems to be growing.

I agree Josey, the supporter should be banned but Trevor had to walk away, that is his responsibility.

Fabregas was my man of the match as the game progress he was outstanding, the front pair worked their socks off. Still questions marks over Man Ure's title creditials as this was a big test they failed. Is Ronaldo the new big game bottler  :P

Have met Trev a few times and he was always a sound lad and good craic. He has however always been a lose cannon and regardless of what was said he really needed to be the bigger man and walk away, he could have reported the muppet who allegedly called his mother a whore to the stewards and got him thrown out.

Sad day for Trevor as his career will quite rightly be over, you just can't cross that line.

Quotebut I dont think the GAA rules allow the reverse of this scenario..

Which is perfectable acceptable as the GAA is a democratric organisation and the rules were brought in for a purpose. But I believe it's time to move on and like Hound I believe each club should be allowed examine and decide by itself. The rugby below will obviously benefit finacially from the Kildare Team but they have offered more or less free of charge to Towers. This will be debated within the club but ultimately it is the club who decides if we can train on a rugby ground because thank there isn't a GAA rule that prevents this.

Too much time is spent worrying about other sports and what they're trying to get out of the GAA, people should have more condifence in their games and just concentrate on ensuring our own house is in order.

I honestly believe some posters here prefer schadenfreude in other sports than actually enjoying and being proud of their own.

FFS, there is some paranoid rubbish been written on this thread...

Firstly the facts....

Munster will play their home quarter-final if they get one in Musgrave, their is no need or requirement to move anywhere else. Likewise Leinster can play in Donnybrook if they so desire but will probably play in Ravenhill.

A home semi-final has to played in a stadium with a capacity of 20K or greater and as Lansdowne is ruled out and the IRFU own no other ground with a 20K or greater capacity both Munster and Leinster have provisionally looked abroad with stadiums in Cardiff, Edinburough, London, Reading, Leiscester and Toulouse having been sounded out.

The following is a quote from Philip Browne from last October

Quote"Almost certainly such a game would have to played away. Croke Park is only available for the two internationals against France and England, and this is something that the CEOs of Munster and Leinster are well aware of and have done a fair degree of work in coming up with contingency plans."

The IRFU are not stupid and am sure that their as upset with this Mickey Mouse Counciller as some of you are. The IRFU are probably not happy with some of the arrangements but that is business and they have accepted that, their PR machine has always been positive and supportive of the GAA's stance on opening grounds.

Now as an aside my club Round Towers Kildare will be shortly be laying a new pitch and will be hopefully training out in the local rugby where the current Kildare Senior Squad Train and where the rugby club have allowed them install a GAA pitch that runs side ways accross two floodlight pitches.

Some of you posters really need to open your other eye. Tabloid culture gone mad!!!

Harsh but fair O'Neill, he really annoys me and like the writer above I don't think Hoyte has a future at the club but at least he's an honest committed player

I don't think anyone is being Anti-Man U, the BBC, RTE and many armchair pundits believe Man U's position is false. I think they will lose this weekend against Arsenal but if they get something from that game well then maybe they just might be the real thing...

OdoSkimodo,

I tried on-line and failed but had a mate in Naas who went to the Top 20 music store and picked up 8, we had it co-ordinated in case I failed on-line but there were no queues or anything for him....
