Meath/ Mayo in 96 was a violent brawl. The incident at the end of normal time was 95% handbags and generally just pushing and shoving (apart from the two incidents that have already been outlined).
Ease off on the old hyperbole lads. Very easy to get carried away with the hand wringing.
rare to see a rugby matchwith out at least that level of off he ball violence, eye gouge apart m though its much more frequent there too.
there were  eight officals lokking at it more than enough to finger the real perpetrator rather than just token captains. one of which clearly refuse to engage in the violence. and i never noticed the other.
shit referring but then again what ever they did would be undone by some smart arse on the ccccccccc
I also think the entire thing has been over sensationalised.

But if you are going back over 25 years to use an example of a worse brawl, its not proving the point you think it is

This is a perfect time to throw yourself into a new activity. How's your health and fitness? Are there any new goals you could set on that front? Dig the garden, make things, physical hardship is great for the head. Are you involved with any coaching? Juvenile teams are always looking extra help. You might bring a completely new perspective and sharing that can be hugely rewarding. Your self esteem has taken a hammering but you are your own man and the power is within you to push over this hump on to new horizons. I'd stop going to to your regular haunts to save tripping over each other and raking up the past. The future is where it's at!
t

Health and fitness is grand. I go to crossfit maybe 5 times a week. Ive a garden that needs work but that has never interested me other than cutting the grass

I will be 42 next month. I just feel like Im on the scrap heap already

the age i met my now  wife,  I think people as people mature a lot of the 'dating' bull goes away and notions are fewer   and people make an effort to see each other for what they are .
They no longer are as inclined to let one imperfection close the door on a relationship.
there's always online . one of its best feature is everyone is in a similar boat and all the crap of is a  a relationship on the cards or not is gone.   people talk straighter to each other.

i can never understand the weekend player in New york as to who gains. i get the county player going over for the championship and be  hauled around  for showing off or getting business or what ever but what in it for anyone but the player for a weekend warrior.

is it betting on the matches or is it really done for Pride.

I don't go on day trips as you are likely to have to be around Instagram type youth tourists at any tourist location. However in 2014 I drove to the Griannan of Aileach in Inishowen. It made me feel like a real primitive man standing there on a windy day with my hair blowing. It is interesting that the original capital of Tir Eoghain is in modern day Donegal. Judging by historic maps Inis Eoghain had periods in Tir Eoghain and Tir Chonaill.

Donegal is two places.

Tír Chonaill and Inis Eoghain make up modern day Dún na nGall..

not  true but most of the people are schizophrenic

I still subscribe to Second captains but they are on thier last legs with me . how they can allow Ken early drivel on for about 20 mins at a time taking up weak contrarian positions is beyond me. are the other 2 lads the only people in he world that finds him Funny.
I Like Ciaran Murphy  when he's talking about gaa to Football people esp oisin McConville
As as for their university level right on politics  , nobody signed up for that
and dont get me started on richard sadlier

the biggest fear for Most female team sport is that thy are living way beyond their means  ,
they are starting to have backroom teams and facilities similar In size to men's with little or no income other than through grants or at the grace and favor of the men's version of the games
in GAA in particular with a 32  county model this is not sustainable.
there is already an  out of control backroom team system which many counties are struggling to pay for and now its being replicated twice over in Gaelic games.
then there are facilities as the Ladies game grow the pressure intensifies on clubhouses pitches etc. how many pitches have the camogs or the LGFA created.
Great work has been done in offaly with 2 new sites one for Tullamore and one for county teams
but i dont see many following.
these are 1st world growing pains but i think they are best solved by 1st the amalgamation of Camogie and ladies football to pressurize the dept. of sport to see if they are really serious about Female sport .
if 490 million can be found for soccerball because of dodgy accounting sure that much and ore could be put to positive use.
they have a much better chance of looking for seperate grant money on their own merits than on the coat tails of the mens game

God, it's a welcome change Mayo being out of the Championship and nobody bitching and blaming anyone.
Usually the following are to blame:

The Weather
The Curse
The referee
Horan
Some dirty player on the opposing team
Aidan O'Se
Financial doping
Home advantage
Injured players

............................. We've now realised that that boat has sailed and we are just not good enough anymore.

Sweet baby Jesus. Are you on the Gin?

no but these are thebandwagon jumping Pricks we have in a noisy minority in mayo.
first sign of adversity and they stick the knife in.
Like all losses there were many reasons Mayo failed to beat Kerry.
the most obvious manifestation of course was the dreadful Attempts at goal by players well able to score in the second half including the Greatest scorer  of all time (tm) for the second time in a year

Why that was is the debate . I for one havent any answer maybe when i get the apatite to rewatch it in 6 months I may have some Ideas

The Mayo CB need to define what the problem is first. A repeat of the last decade would be a waste of time
not nearly as much as the waste of the decades from 52 to Horans 1st appointment . with the exception of 89 we were not even nearly competitive and the assumption  that this is the new normal ie being in top 3 or 4 every year is naïve at best.
look at meath  cork Down and untill this year derry as example of team who went from contenders to nowhere for years

What about taking 45s out of your hands. Would possibly help improve players ability to score long range points, a skill that sadly appears to be on the wane

Scoring long range points a skill on the wane?? I would contend the present generation are streets ahead on this aspect of the game (as they are in most skills).

Are they told not to shoot then?

yes untill they are sure . dublin being the prime example but if that plan does not work few better team for long range shooting.

but it is easier now as the ball is always Dry and pitches are smoother and there is less chance of having you head taken off in a tackle

there is an odd idea out there that unless a manager has not yet won an All-irelland  they should be Excluded from the process . which woulld rule out every manger ever at some point of their career .
when a team wins  it it always down to the manager ?
if it was  a choice would you pick john O mahony  over having micheal Donnelan P Joyce and Ja Fallon ,
McGuiness over a full forward line of Patrick McBrearty  Michael Murphy  Colm McFadden

Looking for premade success is just lazy mans ass covering thinking and what worked in one county will not necessarily work in anorher ,
I hope the county board Put in the work and Get the right Man for mayo, yes Man Some screwballs are shouting for Cora

milk bread and ham look reasonable enough.
and the coke is always a rip off unless you buy the 2L bottles .
i've been in shops where 500ml bottles were actually more expensive than 2ltr ones

seems all the people talking about the conspiracy theory about holding back best tickets are right.

loads of good hogan and cusack stand tickets available now

I said previously what happens is so many go on ticketmaster and then county boards/season ticket holders etc are held back. If there are returns from these they are then sold online closer to the game. It's complete nonsense to say that they hold back the good seats so people will buy bad ones.

One of these versions is true and one version is reactionary b#llocks.
Discussion boards in a nutshell
i just stated facts . there are better tickets available now than there were 2 weeks ago and that  certain people had expressed views why this may be
Personally i would say its the little Caesars who will lose power if tickets good 100% online  that want this situation.
