They really are a poor shower when it comes to losing remember all the stuff with Alf Harvey a few years back .

They have such a bad reputation some ref's and umpires won't go to their field .

Last sat night was a disgrace i was delighted Rosenallus won
Delighted also rosenallis won but again they were dragged into that clonaslee web and panicked a small bit on and off the field and were nearly paying the price for it,
any1 any idea how many were sent off this year for clonaslee or what is the county board going to do to prevent such behaviour as it will continue into next years competition

That would be some coup for Laois
mick is an excellent physical coach and has proved it time and time again with Kilkenny but i have heard to often how the laois lads dont repsond to well to physical training (probably only a rumour also as i think county players should be commended for all the time and effort they put in) so not sure if this appointment will go ahead.
Lads don't respond well to physical training? What are you even on about. They are going to train to get better physically.
I mean they don't like taking on the extra physical training that mick would bring or require. Don't shoot the messenger

A Rosenallis v The Harps final looks nailed on. It would be some achievement if Rosenallis were Senior in both codes considering the base from which they came from. They could be the best dual club in the county!
Surely thats Ballyfin

Could be either depending on if one of then goes up!

But Ballyfin are in a senior football semi final, and have played both codes at senior in recent years. For all you know, Rosenallis could come down in both next year.

Both to be commended nonetheless and make a nonsense of the dual club/player thing.
i would shade ballyfin also as rosenallis only after going up and had relatively handy draws in both codes. ballyfin continue to impress.
would any1 in here class abbleyiex and ballyroan/abbey as dual or how many play both codes?
Ballyroan Abbey and Abbeyleix are not a dual club. No way.
Ballyroan Abbey footballers hurl with Colt, Abbeyleix, Ballypickas and Patk Ratheniska and maybe other hurling clubs.
thanks for clarifying that

rosenallis should have to much for colt but with ballyfin in a replay this week in football and such heavy underfoot conditions it might just hamper them abit against a fresh harps team

Common sense from referees also goes along way not to irate players and officials. Saying that without the referees we would have no games and if a few fixtures fell by the wayside due to lack of referees then clubs might stand up and take note

Thankless job refereeing. Mick Tarpey would be well known as a ref who adds on a lot of injury time and to be fair to him, there was some amount of stuff happening off the ball yesterday. People give out when the linesman don't get involved so when they do, it's hardly fair to whinge too.
theres getting involved and theres getting involved but alot of that game was refed from the sideline by the celebrity ref as mentioned in a previous post

we do not want to put pressure on clubs to provide refs just for the sake of doing so.
Why not?
how good will they be? we cant force people to be refs? they need to want to do it themselves and have pride and an interest in it.

refereeing is such a tough job and the level of abuse they get is what puts people off becoming refs. there is no quick solution for the crisis of declining refs and we do not want to put pressure on clubs to provide refs just for the sake of doing so.  maybe regional refereeing could be the way forward and with a bit more financial expense for travelling. clubs then could not moan also about a ref having connections to another club
