sorry someone earlier was harping on about soccer being better than GAA, im not bitter i just dont like the sport, and some of those who follow it. i accept my comments were off topic, didnt mean to divert the tread, but i stand by what i said

I'd give the whole Meath team a wake up call after beating Kerry by 15 points in the 2001 semi. let them know they had won nothing yet, that Galway were a bigger threat, as they had reached 3 of the last 4 AI at the time.  Even if they didnt win, at least they might have given a better account of themselves, unlike what transpired.

Also anyone who thinks "soccer" is a real game, they need a f**kin wake up call too. Its a p***ys game played by hair dressers. which makes me laugh at the thug element in its supporters. All these hard men watching the sporting equivelent of graham nortan

GAA Discussion / Re: If You Were GAA President

Anyway moving on...............

I would scrap the league. Play the club championships during that period. The GAA could then promote the club championship and give the local heroes a chance at the lime light. This would solve the fixture problems and the county/club problems. The Club leagues could be played in the summer time.

Also i would suggest, make the contact more clear cut in football. Hands in back illegal, hands in front, including pushing are legal, (or how about any contact from behind is illegal, would that keep defenders honest??) Shoulder to shoulder charges to be encouraged  ;)

I would set a standard for clubhouse facilities and pitches. Depending on club level, ie Junior, Intermediate, Senior, a certain standard would have to be reached, and the GAA would carry the cost of any improvments. County teams would have to have a very high standard of provisions for their players, that goes for all counties, and these facilites made available to both codes in each county.

My aim would be that footballers and hurlers whether they are from Longford, Kerry, Sligo, Antrim or Tyrone they all get the same level of facility. The only thing that should stand in the way of success is talent and commitment.

On the dispiline side of things, i'd do away with reds, and yellows,. A player gets 4 warnings in a game and then has to leave. The referee just ticks his number and thats lets him know hes warned. Violent conduct leads to instant dismissal. Diving or feigning injury is also an instant dismissal.

What changes would you make, what would you do differently, what would be your attitude to things like Croke Park use, Pay for Play, GPA, Player welfare, grass root level issues, player transfers etc.

Ill post my own responce to this in a while

GAA Discussion / Re: Donegal v Mayo NFL Final
April 15, 2007, 09:27:29 PM
Was at the games today, neither Mayo or Galway seemed to have any real cutting edge up front. Most Galway scores came from stupid decisions by the Mayo backs. Donegal I'd say will win the final. They were playing the direct football and doing it well for most of the game. They would have been clear winners except for that ridiculous penalty.

Hope to God, Mayo and Donegal fans decide to show up to next weeks final. Nothing worse than a 3/4 empty Croke Park

In Hurling, Waterford or Galway or better yet Antrim

football I'd like to see Donegal, Monaghan or Sligo and maybe Im getting soft but I suppose I wouldnt begrudge the Dubs an All-Ireland.

After what transpired on Sunday and Kildare playing so well, I get the feeling Meath will be taking the qualifier route early this year  >:(

Just read that the ladies are looking for an equal deal. Its only right that they get the same deal as everyone else.

I reckon, Meath win by 2-3, Cavan win by the guts of 10 points. Cant be too percise.

Cant wait for Sunday, its gonna be great no matter what way it turns out, except for a Meath loss by +8 points, that would not be cool at all.

From what ive read about the governments grant system, Inter county players will be getting  €2,500 (£1700) a year. which isnt exactly spoiling them is it. But its something!!
