Plus Kerry win 1 in every 3 All-Ireland's and they have a fantastic team this year.

They went 5 years without winning one between 2009 and 2014.

Pass level Maths in the Leaving?  ;)

Surely only scores from play should count towards Golden Boot?

Agreed. O'Connor is no 2 on that list, because Dublin are lazy, sloppy tacklers and they gave away far to many frees in easily scoreable positions. By all means, give out an overall award for top scorer, as there is some merit in being to kick frees consistently, but the Golden Boot should be reserved from scores from play.

RTE are not the only media outlet and they've had no problem laying the boot in on us unfairly overy the years so f**k them.

That's a lot easier for spectators to say. They don't pay the bills. The sponsors do. They aren't parting with their cash out of the goodness of their hearts. They are parting with it, as sponsoring a team brings exposure for their products and brands.

RTE provides the biggest platform in the country for that. So if you deny the sponsors that opportunity, that will lessen their willingness to part with the cash, at the levels that they did before. Why wouldn't they, if they don't feel they are getting bang for their buck? If that means that additional nutritionists or physios can't be hired, or training trips away can't be paid for, will the RTE boycott still have the support that it does now?

I'm entirely neutral on all this. I couldn't care less who MH does or doesn't speak to, but I get that running an intercounty team is a major financial undertaking. We fans can tell anyone that pisses us off to get lost. The county boards have to pay the bills. They don't have that luxury.

So at the moment, it's 7 Kerry, 4 Dublin, 1 each for Mayo, Tyrone & Monaghan. I'd say the ones with an asterix are the most likely to lose out depending on how the final goes.

POTY looks to be Moran's if Kerry win and between BB and Connolly if Dublin win.

I'd say all the red card/DRA controversy has scuppered Connollys chances of winning it. If he had two big games in the 2 semi finals, he may have been in with a chance, but he didn't, so he isn't. I'd have both McCaffrey and Kilkenny ahead of him too.

If Dublin win the AI, its between BB and McCaffery. I'd say BB deserves it more, but he has won it before and people love the youth and flair of McCaffrey.

If Kerry win the AI, Moran has it in the bag.

The video evidence clearly shows O'Shea with his fist around the neck of Philly shirt, pulling him towards him. Go to the Indos website, they have the video on there for the world to see. As the GAA came out and said that Philly had no case to answer, you'd have to imagine that they saw it too. But some people just want to convince themselves that O'Shea is this harmless gentle giant, who can do no wrong.

Not surprised Aido didn't want to shake hands with McMahon. Horrendous stuff in the 1st game by all accounts. >:(

And what about O'Shea claiming after the first game, about being headbutted, when video evidence emerged later on, that clearly showed that he wasn't? McMahon is no choir boy, but claiming you were headbutted, to get someone into trouble retrospectively, is a pretty shitty thing to do. Lets not pretend that AO'S is an innocent angel either.

How do a counties finances impact the college courses a lad does? If a lad wants to study Engineering, but he doesn't get enough CAO points for it, there isn't much that they can do about it.

Scholarships......

Aren't scholarships awarded by the universities and the GPA? What role do the finances of individual county boards play in that?

I'm sure Joe will tell us he randomly bumped into some unnamed inter-county player in B&Q this week who told him he was dead right in everything he said.

Exactly. The endless name dropping of players and managers that he socializes with, is getting very tedious. I don't believe that even half of the stories are true. They may be crossing each others paths at awards dinners and media events and such. But I seriously doubt if they are all as eager to share their innermost thoughts and feelings with him, as he would have us believe.  So its great to hear of one of them telling him to just fcuk off.

Same here, those fecking competitions, who in the name of God thinks they are a good idea?

They are all over RTE, tv & radio, but I've never seen any other station doing them.

The RTE accountants I imagine. The companies who sponsor and promote the competitions, pay RTE a hefty amount of money to place their products as the prize on shows that get high ratings, such as The Late Late and The Sunday Game.

Why

1. The players and/or the GAA own the image rights of their own pictures. PP just took them, without asking, to use in their own publicity stunt. They also didn't cough up any money to do so.

2. The GPA doesn't want GAA players being used to promote a gambling company, given the problems of gambling addiction within the GAA, that the GPA are working to combat.

Waiting in the long grass

The Dubs are over hyped

And basically every single word that comes out of a Kerrymans mouth at this time of year.

Bernard Brogan, really? Wouldn't even make my squad, never been a fan - think he wastes as much as he scores and is more hype than substance, I like my inside men to be clinical.

Back in 2013, he won Dublin an All Ireland practically on his own. Was his 2-3 that day, not clinical enough for you?

Scalps or no scalps he did well with Kildare. His legacy can't be helped by the fact that a rake of players including Doyle and Early retired.

How can you say that scalps or no scalps, he still did well? I don't get that at all.

Surely the very definition of doing well, is beating the big teams, on the big, knockout days in Croker, no? He never did that, so how can he still be called successful?

Did he do well against very poor opposition in Leinster? Yes, he did. Did he do well against Div 2-4 counties in the qualifiers? Yes, he did. But I doubt if most people would judge that as being successful over all? They certainly wouldn't in Mayo, Donegal, Dublin, Kerry etc.

GAA Discussion / Re: Divers (and face holders)

It would be great if the GAA got involved in handing out retrospective bans, for stuff like this, after they have reviewed match footage. As much as we slate refs, they can't be expected to see everything. Linking action to stuff that the ref does or does not see or act upon, or put into his match report, means that the cute players get away with murder.

If a ban per incident is too severe, then give each player a quota. If you receive two post match sanctions for unsportsmanlike conduct, you get an automatic one match ban. It can cover all kinds of dodgy carry on, from play acting and diving and trying to get your man sent off, to off the ball acts of thuggery that the refs don't see.
