Do not think it was player power - Pat just wanted to go.
Mixed feeling I'd say, what is not in dispute is that the line was not good against Tyrone.
It is Sean Geaney's (U-21 & former minor manager) if he wants it. Being a teacher he has the time.
Interestingly Crokes will possibly be looking for a new manager next year so Pat may not be gone from the national scene too long.

Deja vu but I will be amazed if that team starts.
Kerry Mike - for his last appearance can you change the number 8 to be the normal Darragh number....
Nerves building nicely....

Forecasting the future based on one game is ridiculous.
A Kerry win will give us a three in a row, a loss gives us 4 all-Ireland in the decade with one more year to go.
In 2005, Kerry Football was dead and buried, the media said, us soft southerners ere finished for good and glory, well until 2006 & 2007.
The Same in 2003 yet Sam came home with us in 2004.
Tyrone will still be serious contenders in 2009 if they lose because they have the footballers.
On another note those Tyrone boys look dangerous, one looks like he may have a bird's nest in that beard.

So a man who has played over 70 championship matches and only ever got sent off twice is now a serial offendee.............
Rules are rules they say and this one is hard to take especially after the Anthony Lynch red card resind in 2006.
I am glad the Kerry County board are seeking clarification on the incident.

I have not said O'Mahoney was right, he was wrong.
However he is the first person to get a thread dedicated to diving and is called patetic in the suject line.
So my point is this - Is O'Mahony the first ever person to have dived in Gaelic football? if so he deserves the thread, if not, why is it the first thread dedicated to a player for diving. Mr O'Neill had no trouble going down where is his thread???????

Gutted – absolutely gutted about yesterdays game. Will be tough for the Kerry lads to raise their heads.
Aidan O'Mahony left himself down yesterday, the reaction was uncalled for, I have to say I'm disappointed in him but in his defence he has not done this before.
That said the post thread on O'Mahney is a Joke, he did nothing more than some other players (Mr P O'Neill, Mr P Canavan, Mr P Jordan) but is signalled out 'cos he is from Kerry.
Darragh, I'm sorry to say did likewise, clear punch even if O'Neill made a meal of it. If that is the way Darragh leaves intercounty football, then I am sorry for him.
I honestly expect more of a contest from Cork they were brutal. Can they play as bad again? As KM said can we be on top for so long again.
The big decisions (disallowed goal, penalty not given, penalty given) went with Cork yesterday yet this would not have mattered if we shot straight, terrible, terrible shooting.
On the positive side when the kickout from the penalty (btw what a penalty) was left go I thought it was curtains for us, it was positive that we regrouped to win the kickout and Killian was so unlucky.
In reality it felt like we lost the match afterwards, will be tough to regroup, from a Kerry perspective I hope the match is in Croke Park as I would fear for us in a provincial venue.
The unknown factor is how will our limbs take 4 matches in 5 weeks in Croke Park if the match is on there.

I can never understand why people on this board constantly underestimate Cork.
The only side they have lost to in the championship since 2004 is Kerry – even if they have put in some shocking performances in those losses.
I see Sunday as a tight game. Usually in Cork v Kerry games the amount of ball won in midfield dictates the result.
If Kerry break even them we win the game, win midfield and we win with a bit to spare, lose midfield narrowly and it a draw.
Cork have been wiped out in midfield in Croke Park over the years after being competitive in Munster.
Cork have to stop Darragh bossing this area, he has bullied the cork players (especially Murphy) over the years in Dublin, will be interesting to see how Mr O'Neill fares.
No sure will Kerry start Bohane, he was lauded for his display against Galway but he could afford to take risks, as Bergin was way off the pace.
Bohane has been on the Kerry panel since 2004 (where he was the 31th man) and has yet to break through, if he starts I wish him well but it represents a gamble by the selectors.
The half back line is the best in the country, midfield unchanged with Tommy Griffin to come on with 20 to go, Half forward unchanged with Sheehan, Declan and Walsh (I would start Brozzie however).
Twin towers inside with Gooch reverting to his natural position in the corner now that Declan is up to speed. I expect Murphy to start for Cork with Canty on the bench. Us by 1 -3 points after a decent tussle.

Kerry odds shortening, Galway's lengthening a little. Doesn't make much difference, put everything you have on Kerry tomorrow, there's no earthly way they will lose, absolutely not a hope. Seriously.
Yerra I wouldn't put your money on Kerry in fairness, their is awful trouble in the camp between the the old guard and the young pups. See two can play that game ;).
Can't see a whole pile in it, if Galways forward catch fire they will win. From the stories I am hearing (not KM horse by the way) O'Mahony is not certain to start.
Still No better place for Darragh to set the appearance record than Croker.

Who ever sets up the fixtures in the GAA must be the most clueless idiots in the world. Who the f**K sets up a minor QF for 12:30 in Newbridge with the Seniors playing in Croke Park at 4pm.......
Those who try to make it will miss the Armagh v Wexford game (despite paying full whack) and will struggle to get to Croker in time anyway.
No problem with the game in Newbridge but why not play it at 7:30 and let the fans go their way back from Croker go to the game. Annoyed as hell.

GAA Discussion / Re: Kerry v Monaghan part 2
August 04, 2008, 05:51:58 PM
Good game overall yesterday, slow first half and a good second half. Better game than last year I feel.
Monaghan gave us one hell of a test physically and hopefully this will bring us on.
Darragh looked in the best shape of the summer yesterday and it was great to see him take control when it was in the melting pot - vintage Darragh.
The full back line was run ragged, Reidy and Marc in trouble all day while Tom didn't fare that well either.
Half back were good, Killian Young looking like the young player of the year again, Tomas is Tomas and I though Mahony came back well from the nasty leg injury early on.
That said Woods won their battle, I must say really impressed by Woods,he doesn't look fit but what a player.
The twin tower approach won ball all day, conversion rate must be upped the next day as we didn't score enough for the possession we had.
We need to get Gooch more involved. The good news is that we are still hanging around for another week at least.........

I firmly believe that Cork are alot better than most posters here give them credit for.
Their back are very good, their diamond around the middle is excellent and while they lack top class forwards they do have decent forwards.
I would expect Cork to dominate possession and win with a fair bit to spare.
