GAA Discussion / Re: Mayo! f**king Hell
April 27, 2010, 04:44:25 PM
Quote1999 All Ireland Minor Final  Down beat Mayo
2000 All Ireland Minor Final  Cork beat Mayo
2001 All Ireland U-21 Final  Tyrone beat Mayo
2004 All Ireland Senior Final  Kerry beat Mayo
2006 All Ireland Senior Final  Kerry beat Mayo
2007 National League Final  Donegal beat Mayo
2010 National League Final  Cork beat Mayo

The earlier mention of Kenneth Mortimer loosing in 11 All Ireland finals had me look back at the list there,  I think I'm correct in thinking Alan Dillion was involved in all these finals, and lost a couple of schools finals as well. It's a lot of loosing for a player on big occasions to take, and credit must be given to him to keep coming back for more every year.

Just back from the game and have to give credit to Conor for his performance today, two of his points were top drawer, under pressure moving away from goal towards the end line but he popped them over. But on any other day they could have sailed wide and he'd be getting a bollocking from Mayo supporters for being an ass for trying from there rather than retaining possession and working it back to someone else in a better position.
Over all a very satisfying win, but Mayo were very lucky early in the second half not to concede two goals, Cooper put one over the bar when one on one with Clarke that come the business end of the championship he'd probably nail to the back of the net. And another one from the other lad in the corner which clipped the bar after Donaghy fielded well over the head of Conroy.
But overall Mayo deserved the win, some poor shooting in the first half dropping the ball short and kicking about six wides when we had loads of the ball could have cost us. And very lucky not to be down to 14, just before the break.

You could also throw Enda Varley into that list Abbeysider he came on the final as far as I can remember and Alan Feeney was a sub on that u21 side too

QuoteTake it you have to be 50+ to understand what you lads are on about?

Far from it, the Pixes are one of all time great bands ever and everyone should listen them, I'm only in my mid 20s

QuoteAfter spending the last half hour trying to get modest mouse tickets but the f**king site kept freezing on me!
There doing two nights now Ludermor, got tickets for the tuesday night, €30 not a bad price

QuoteNot completely certain but fairly sure. Don't think Brian was still playing by the time Barry transferred.

Nearly sure your right on that one R&G, as far as I remember Barry transfered at adult grade, and don't think Brian every played for the first team. But maybe there was a junior league game or the likes, but I don't think so.

Was never a fan of them when I prob should have been as a teenager when everyone else was really into them, but have picked up most of their albums over the last couple of years and kinda annoyed with myself for missing out on them at the time. Would really love to see them now. And on Neil Young went to him in the point back in June, blew me away great show altogether, great set list, great performance

QuoteSo chaps, i am able to upgrade on 6th June, The Apple WWDC is on June 8-12 and it is widely expected they will announce the new I Phone. So should i upgrade now to the current 3G IPhone or wait for the new one. Stick or twist?

I suppose you should wait and see what happens at it, but with the new OS coming out in June for the ihone, the update may be just some more tweeks to that rather than a whole refresh of the phone.  Sure there is no harm waiting a couple of days to see what happens at WWDC.
