When men were men and sheep (no hill subsidy)  were really gentle i have a vague recollection for the UUC jersey - skull and cross bones on the front - i thought that was cool 1989.

Nah this is the table at the end of last year's season.

Ballinascreen  16    7    6    3   177    198    -21    17
Banagher     16   7   7   2   212   196   16   14
Magherafelt    16   6   8   2   197   213   -16   14
Glen       16   6   9   1   185   206   -21   13

Seems strange then as to what way the seedings were worked out???

You've actually proved my point screenexile - there were16 teams in the top league last year, therefore only 15 games - as you can see these 4 teams have played 16 games - so banagher must've overtaken glen & magherafelt on points in the play-off game!

No seeding Bogball... Ballinderry, Banagher and Screen all premier sides. It's an open draw again for the QF AFAIK.

I think our system is good. Yes maybe the matches aren't as intense but compared to the previous system the 3 matches per team per section is compensating for 8 first round games. From the QF on I can guarantee that all games will be a hundred miles an hour from now on in. ALthough Ballinderry will still win it at a canter!

There was a seeding of sorts!

It was based on last years league positions (16 team top league) before playoffs.  Can't remember what way the leagues finished but i'm sure magherafelt or glen finished above banagher or screen (the 4 teams in the playoffs)

If they always base it on the previous years league there will alway be a group with 3 top division teams and another group with 3 2nd division teams
Edit - unless the team that was promoted is drawn in the same group as the team relegated

Did you notice in the minor game he laois corner forward hopping the ball behind him in the turn a la basketball?  Never saw it done before. Cool.
It would have been better if it actually came off - he was trying to bounce the ball through his legs and it hit his leg on the way back up... not so cool after all   :-\

Why do we have to pick only one? Mark for kick outs is a good idea; advantage rule also makes sense.

I'd also like to see some definition about what happens after a fella goes to ground with the ball. If an attacking player is knocked over (for example), they're at a huge disadvantage because they firstly have to get to their feet (thus exposing the ball) and then pick it up with their toe while bending over (making them off-balance and more vulnerable to being knocked over again). The man should be allowed play the ball on the ground -- very Rugby League I hear you say but it's going that way anyway...

I haven't checked properly but i think the current rules cover this - if the attacking (any) player is knocked to the ground he is allowed to play the ball on the ground with his hand - unfortunatley most referees will blow a free against the attacker for this  ::)

Edit:

Found the rule

1.2 When the ball is on the ground, it may be
played by any part of the body except the
hand(s). It may be lifted off the ground with
the feet.
EXCEPTIONS
(i) The goalkeeper may play the ball on the
ground with his hand(s) inside his own
small rectangle.
(ii) Any player who falls or is knocked to the
ground while in possession of the ball may
fist or palm the ball away on the ground,
and may score by so doing.

(iii) The ball may not be lifted off the ground
with the knees.

General discussion / New TV Help
July 05, 2007, 01:35:16 PM
Lads & Lasses getting a new TV shortly - its survival of the fittest in our house... once the oldest & smallest starts playing up, the new one comes into the living room and the living room one goes into the kitchen, and kitchen to master bedroom....

Anyway, since i last bought a tv there have been plenty of new advances - LCD, plasma, HD ready... What should i go for & are there any brands i should avoid?

Price-wise, nothing ridiculous like 4 figures, probably around the £500 but i'm quite out of touch i'm not sure that that would even get a good quality TV

Also for wall-mounted tv, are you better getting the wall tracked or can the leads be hidden well enough without the hassle?

Any help would be appreciated.

A sub-standard opportunist manager if ever there was one.  Exited the big stage knowing that he couldn't achieve back to back AI's with his limited tactical ability.
There's been a lot of limited managers the last 18yrs then  ::)

Particularly when it comes to fowls.

Is this often open to debate at down hurling games?

Good man lecale, beat me too it...
