2nd weekend of dry January complete (1st weekend was easy, this weekend wasn't easy..temptations were there Saturday) Feel far better for it this morning, up this morning for a 5k walk before work. Haven't been weighing myself but feel like a few pounds off.

Should feel it in the waist of your trousers, I never weigh, it should be how you fit into your clothes, or how you feel when you wake and your skin complexion. There are so many ways to gauge a better diet and no drink!

I'm on wet January and loving it lol!

Too many things in Jan for me to go off it, but happy with not drinking during the week, trying to change my diet to more veg and possibly plant based meals

Wife watched this thing on Netflix, You are what you eat the twin experiment. All the stuff you know but changing those habits is the difficulty   

Yeah I notice it in the waist first, and the work shirts don't cling to the gut as much.

That's why I attempted dry Jan, because I haven't one event in January..so thought it was possible. Loads coming up Feb & March..so a break would be good.

Dry January still going strong for me. The pangs for beer were not half as strong as the previous two weekends. Not sure if ive lost weight, ive replaced lager & stout with other snacks and stuff
But more than happy, as i would class myself as a problem drinker

They did. They put us away fairly comprehensively in the league last year as well.

Richie had an outstanding season with the club but personally i feel he's alot more suited to the pace of the club game now. I dont think he would have got many minutes this year

The cumulative effect of so many players making themselves unavailable has left us reeling for sure. A lengthy injury list too. I cant see anything other than two defeats in the opening two NFL games, so we will be under the microscope very soon, and the pressure is most certainly on the management team.

Thankfully there is plenty of younger talent coming through. Some encouraging performances in Sigerson from non panelists like Eoin Corry, Brian Conway in an area of the pitch where we need reinforcement. Dooher has said the panel is fluid so lets wait & see. I think we have to be patient with some of the younger forwards as well such as Ruairi Canavan and Cush. It will take time, but the effort and quality is there.

Biggest concern for me is around the half back line, especially 6. Id like to see a stronger pressence in there.

I see the holiday period is from Friday 5th July - Friday 19th July. Although it is technically 2 weeks, the reality for a player or manager is that it is a 1 week window as training will have restarted the week of the 19th fixture.
Realistically it is only a 7-10 day window to allow holiday.
Surely an easy solution is to move the game on Friday 5th forward by a day or two and delay the 19th game to the following Monday 22 or even to the following weekend and do a double fixture.
I know it is only a few days either way but it would increase the holiday options for all players rather than having to stick rigidly to the 7/10 day period.
Maybe someone will explain the rationale behind the dates published and there maybe a perfectly good reason for it

The calendar in Tyrone is probably the best in Ireland at present. 15 League campaign played over the best months (May-September), mostly on a Friday (to the delight of players) and a Knock Out Championship. I would say the county board and the CCC have the Senior season running very well, arguably the best it has ever run. Credit where credit is due.

The reality is however, bar ethan Rafferty in goals, youd nearly go all Derry from 1 to 9

Tarlac Quinn the pick of the newcomers. A good addition in the half back line, plenty of interceptions and good driving forward. Lorcan McGarrity positive too.

Yeah disappointing for sure

Concession of at least half dozen frees in easy scoring zone
Continuation of leaking heavy scores.
Loads of misplaced passes, underhit passes, poor decision making

Structurally something isn't right either. Even when we had a 3 point lead, we were too frantic chasing next score. Eventually we lose all all shape, structure & positioning, when the move breaks down we are right open. It was like that last year as well

We had a few really poor individual displays as well, it has to be said. A few lads are well off the standard required at the moment

Obviously a very experimental side, we have loads of men to come back on. But that January optimism is fading already

Need to get a good friendly organised before the Roscommon game, alot of work to do.

Dont take it too seriously lads, i watched it myself. Wasnt a great match as a spectacle, but it was FOC on youtube. The replays were super quick, it was generally very good production wise. A game we otherwise would never have seen.

The younger McCloskey looks a real good player by the way. One for Derry for sure.

Gallagher had Glass and Doherty starting the week after the final last year. They've been on the go 2 years solid now you'd think a few weeks break would be the way to go.

it was a completely needless game as well that one, everyone knew they would win easy. There really was no point, just more moronic stuff from Rory Gallagher.
This game v kerry they genuinely could be doing with the Glen men. Derry will be desperate to get off to a good start in Div 1, and 4 points in the opening two games is well achieveable
I could understand the temptation, and the decision to play them
