I love the way these new republicans were at the forefront of the battle, most of them were still pissing in their nappies when the first ceasefire was called.
They probably recall hearing about some chap called Robbie Sands who died for some reason or other but the details are irrelevant.

They have no idea of history or how to behave. It's youth in general, I see myself the greedy little bastards only think that they can take whaever they want without consequences, that they have right to behave in whatever fashion they desire and they ultimately get what they want. Spoiled little shits to be honest.

There's an irony in that the Gay activists are having another field day against the DUP.

Looks  1/2  female to me

A long rod in his right hand and stroking a big black helmet with his left hand. Hmm....

At the Gay bar, Gay Bar, Gay Bar.......

Has the culture minister attended NI games? Ive never seen him or heard of him being there?

Mr Poots indeed attended a GAA match, but of course did so under his own terms.....Is God save the Queen still played at NI soccer matches? Its the only "queen" that Iris Robinson and Ian Paisley Jr would approve of.

The North's Sports Minister Edwin Poots is calling for an end to the playing of the Irish national anthem ahead of GAA games in the North.

DUP politician Edwin Poots also says he wants to see an end to the naming of sports grounds after Irish patriots.
Mr Poots became the first DUP politician to attend a GAA match in an official capacity last night when he watched the McKenna Cup game between Donegal and Down in Newry.
He was welcomed to the game by GAA president Nicky Brennan.
However, he arrived late as part of a protest against the playing of Amhran na bhFiann before the game.

BTW, I take it all the national flags of teams from the participating nations are flown in Coleraine ... does that include the Irish tricolour?

I doubt it. A tricolour flies in Coleraine every summer........

......Just before they light the bonfire on the 12th in fact.

I'd never go back to that hole of a place, god knows why any family would let their kids go up there to play football in that tournament.

Because the kids want to play in a good tournament, with reasonable crowds against decent teams. And in 23 years this is the first time anyone has been attacked. The scumbags who did it will hopefully not get away with it, but it is hardly tantamount to neglect for the parents who let their kids go there.

I think you are missing the point, nobody would let their kids go to a tournament if there was a chance that they would be attacked or injured, its just that the odds of that happening 10 years ago would have been far greater than in the present day. No-one is questioning the validity of the tournament, safety of the participants is paramount in these circumstances, especially when you think of cases such as the Miami Showband.

Just to add my 2 cents, only one place in the world where I have been shouted at for being a Fenian B--d (I was 14 at the time) and that was in the lovely northwest, Portrush to be exact. This feat was even more amazing as I was not wearing any distinctive clothing nor was I engaging in any parade/gathering of any sort, just having an ice-cream.

SARI(Sport Against Racism Ireland) <- they can f*** right off now. I've seen them unofficially collecting at GAA matches around the country and outside shops previously - can anyone tell me where these funds are going to? Seems like someone is trying to drum up a lobby group for their own ends and take in a wee bit of profit at the same time. (think al gore and his Carbon credits!). Is this organisation actually legal?

Not only is it legal, the GAA is a member of SARI.

A weak attempt at trolling.

I'll keep telling them to eff off every time I see them. Probably filtering the money to Dessie Farrell......

OK, I'll bite. Can you clarify whether the above is meant to justify the public vilification of a child playing a GAA match as a "natural reaction" by those responsible?

Anyway - on the substantive issue - we were promised an investigation and action. Has anything happened? Will anything happen? How will we know? Will this just be quietly forgotten when the hoooha has died down?

Why don't we call a tribunal for every instance until everyone thinks in the same way?

What a wonderful PC world this will be....

Theres far too much hysteria about racism in Ireland. The irish population are tired of bogus asylum seekers and spongers hence the bad feelings. In a way I cant blame people, its a natural reaction to changes that have been forced upon them by the government, bitterness creeping in regarding entire families who are being subsidised by health boards while indigenous families struggle to get by.

If I was playing sports with a minority group footballer, which I have in the past, then it's my job and the job of my team mates to look out for them, same way as you look after your fat, bald, slow, stupid and ginger team-mates...why is this any different?

Some people think we have to live in a utopia where all colours and creeds all get along like its bloody Rainbow Brite land. Dream on. Theres always going to be tension.
Just wait until Obama gets in ;)

Now i'll sit back and watch the fireworks :D

Francie Brolly is bang out of order on this matter. Just because he thinks he is right doesnt mean he actually has the will of the people he represents. He'll get a very rude awakening in the next election if he keeps up this pandering to unionist agendas.

Say it quietly but you'll be seeing a lot of SDLP transfers around Dungiven if SF are not careful. The Kevin Lynch memorial is the republican celebration in the town and I don't think youre going to see a dillution of that viewpoint any time soon no matter what the SF top brass think.
