There is a nice freshness about Tyrone this year with the introduction of so many new players.

As often happens when running the bench Tyrone were not as fluent in the second half though Westmeath improved a bit from their complete no show in the first half.

You can only beat what's in front of you but really until Tyrone enter the Athletic Grounds in June it will be difficult to know just where they stand.

Do we not discuss this every match? I think they can only name 26 but the others are still there but just not named. I'd say SoN is there too as is Tommy.

Tommy McGuigan is out injured.

General discussion / Re: RTE on Freeview

Any of you well informed poster able to help here?

I Have a freeview HD TV with DVB-T2 tuner that is MPEG4 compatible.  It is not picking up any RTE TV or radio stations on the digital platform but I think it should in theory do so.  I am getting the RTE, TG4, TV3 etc on analogue but the reception is not what it previously was.

I also have an older freeview TV, previously I have been able to receive the RTE radio stations on the digital platform but they seem to have disappeared off it also.

Am I right in thinking something has happened my signal, perhaps due to the aerial moving in the wind or something or some type of interference?

I live in Ardboe.

Talk I heard was they were going to play two rounds before the Armagh game June 10 on the weekends of May 11-13 and May 25-27 .
There will be opposition from some quarters but clubs like Coalisland and Clonoe with players going to the states in the past are pushing hard for it to go through.I think it would be a good thing .
This is going to happen and starting the leagues earlier is all part of the strategy.I had it confirmed this week by one of the conty backroom.Clubs that have previously lost young lads to the states etc are very much in favour as with championship momentum built it might help keep them at home.I see no reason for this not to hapen.

Surely if a team went out of the championship in May then their players would be more likely to head off  ???

Playing the league and then championship seemed to work well last year.  Wont suit the financial people but the majority of others would probably be in favour.

Justin McMahon is a pale shadow of his former self and has been for a year or more but hopefully he will improve as the year goes on, you could say its early in the year etc but given Tyrone have been training flat out for a good few months at this stage you would think his fitness would be ok.

A good few months? Beginning of January my good friend ;)

Decent enough game for the time of year. I don't know why people are expecting a polished Tyrone and Derry side, it's a long way off that yet. It's about getting good, competitive football under their belts and into a winning frame of mind.

Tyrone are a little further along the path in the regard than Derry, judging by tonight's game. Some might say that Derry had it all to do, being a man down, but I still believe Tyrone would still have won. That said, I don't know how Cavanagh didn't get a yellow for that awful tackle and I can't understand how Conway got a red card.

January 2011  ???  ;)

Excellent game for McCarron tonight, probably the pick of the bunch for me.

Can anyone confirm can you get TG4 in Belfast or can you watch in online or is it blocked like BBC is blocked down south

You should get it through sky as well if that was an option.

What date does day one start from ?

first training session of 2012.
don t think wee peter was at the first training session in 05 or at that many all that year

He was at plenty ;)

Fitness levels have moved on since then, see Dublin and Donegal for example. Tyrone got wiped off the pitch last year and a lot of it was due to speed, intensity and fitness. Micky has obviously identified this and has decided the way to prepare is as a unit from day one. I agree with him, bar injury all should be present at first training session. Just my opinion.

I thought Mickey said Tyrone were fitter than ever last year  ???

Are they footballers or olympians ???

Yes Dublin were very fit and strong last year but they also had great footballers like the Brogans, McMenamin (who was not a starter), Nolan etc etc and had a good balance.

Strong boy and for me was Tyrones best player in 2008.
