Tyrones most celebrated performance was Donegal in the championship this year, however I believe they played better football against Monaghan in the Mc Kenna cup in Breffni Park.  It was outstanding stuff.  Very few of these players were allowed to wear a jersey after this game.  I beleive Cavlan, Mulligan and probably a few othere are beyond their best.  The absolute minimum requirement for playing county football should be that you keep yourself in athletic condiditon.

ive read all the arguements here and theres some merit in a lot of them,  Ill make a proposal not that I think could revolutionise Irish rugby keep O connell happy and stop the unionists becoming sooks.(whingers)
1) write a new piece of thumping Celtic music with Scotch Ulster and Irish traditional overtones.
2) Have words in Irish and in Scotch Ulster -  words which capture the glory, the opain and the future of Ireland a nation once again. The song is wrote in the two associated celtic languages and the rugger buggers can sing it in Irish or in Scotch Ulster.
3) Design a dance based on scotch Ulster and Traditional irish styles. (think marauding celts The new Haka - for O Connell)
4) Wear Kilts but keep the  rugby shorts on underneath.
(The last one is  :P - the first 3 Im dead serious)

GAA Discussion / Promoting ladies football
September 25, 2007, 05:43:03 PM
I have heard that the GAA is going to allow womens football in under its care as a means of promoting it.  Would the powers that be in Ladies football not see the potential in having an annual calendar to promote the girls game as well.  Theres bound to be a few lookers in the old ladies GAA.  Whay have just woman when you can have 12?

I though Peter Donnelly was excellent yesterday, when moved to midfield and I thought the Fianna did enough against formidable opponents.  All credit to Donaghmore they stopped our goalscoring threat, and if they hadnt stopped feeding Mc Ginn who knows what could have happened.  Having attended on Friday night I would not be picking out Dromore as anything different.   As I said before the hype has been huge fair play to the young guys for being worth it.  The blue flame keeps burning.

well done to Dromore last night.  Interesting about both teams ignoring the county ruling on colour.  What repercussions will there be for that?
Good luck to the team tomorrow.

Heard from a good source that Harte is going to be at the big match on Sunday and he has a number of Fianna forwards and half backs pencilled into his little black book.. looks like there will be a few island men on the county panel next year.   :)Watch this space folks!!!!!

agreed.  Despite what you think Donagh, there are a lot of people holding these views. I personally think the lack of an anthm or flag thoughout the rugby website, games etc will haunt this very talented group of individaula.  Donagh if they do not represent the Irish nation and the symbols of that nation then who the hell do they represent?  Wihout nationaism you can have no national team.  look at the freakin welsh in sport.  Is that the way we are heading.  With attitudes like McDonagh's on here I have no doubt.

General discussion / The denationalisation of Irish Rugby
September 21, 2007, 01:02:29 PM
I have noticed an increase n the levels of criticsm aimed at the IRFU over the last 2 weeks with many equating the sides poor form and seemingly inevitable early exit,  as down to a lack of passion.  Many people are attributing this to a sanitisation of Irish symbolism namely our national anthem and flag being endemic of the problems. One view I heard was that the right to play under the national flag of ireland and to stand to the national anthem has been removed from this Irish team and their performances, moral and in the main their pride of playing for their country has been diminished. I heard another fellow descibing the removal of the Irish flag and anthems form our national teams as the last frontier of an 800 years anglicisation of Ireland programme and symbolic of an Irish nation that desires to be anglicised rather than gaelic.  What do you think?
