I suppose you think your "Mayo 3-18 Roscommon 0-7, Just another day at the office" is the height of witticism Godhelpus ? .

I'm surprised no one mentioned Dermot Early on this thread.
Why? He may have been born in Mayo - was it Lahardaun/ Bofeenaun/ Islandeady country? He played all his stuff in Ros. If you start claiming him Muppet the Rossies will start some row and ruin this thread.

Was with Arsenal Youths but injury wrecked him.
He'd get a right laugh out of that Arsenal youths me arse ! As for injury finishing his career
I'll hold my hands up if I'm wrong but I'd nearly swear to it! Maybe it was just a trial?? A great man for porter so that played a part but he finished up in his mid 20s. I think his knee gave in.

ya pulled me up on everthing the fear , he must have been telling us a few white lies when he told us he was runninh the pub then also most of the lads from cross if you mentioned zuby (spl) would know you were talking about ronan and as i said a sound fella maybe i am doing him a dissevrvice but i don't think imo he was one of the best the best footballers ever to come out of the county . what age did he leave for america at ?

Guys, my knowledge of Mayo football is fairly limited. I used to play a bit of football in the states about 10 years ago and there was a guy playing over there with myself called Ronan Golding. All of the Mayo guys out there would have told me that he was possibly the best footballer to ever come from the county, but quit playing too early for whatever reason. -Something similar to John Corvan and Armagh. I was wondering how the Mayo posters here rated him as a player?
ah ronan goulding or zuby as he was also known captained the mayo under 21 in 1994 or 1995 . he was a handy enough player but imo definately not one of the best to come from the county. He used to play with Balla, a decent skin ran a pub in balla for a while before emigrating

They won All-Ireland Junior in 2004. Don't think they progressed in Intermediate.
They came from Junior in 2003 to be Meath Senior champions in 2006.
That's impressive. Am I right that it's a very rural Irish speaking community outside Navan? I think I was in it many years ago.

Michael Macauley is a 1st cousin of my wife's and I know his dad well but I've yet to see him play.
He plays MF I believe and I think he was on the Dublin squad at one stage or maybe it was only the U-21s
If I can get time I might go along on Sunday to see them play.
Have yet to see a Dublin club game so why not the biggy this weekend.
Why do Dublin play their club games in midweek?
Back in Tyrone Sunday is a big family day out for the GAA club members but it doesn't seem to be like that down here.

Who the favourites for the junior?
I ve a sneaking for Ardnaree.
Fancied them all along and I ll be seriously rooting for them. I ll even darken the door of McHale Park for this one. Cant believe the interview the Kiltimagh manager gave above. Something tells me he has nt done his homework and is going with some fanciful notion of where his club should be in the scheme of things. Whatever about his team this guy deserves a bit of grief.
QuoteIn 2001 the Galway team in the FBD final was: Martin McNamara; Michael Comer, Jason Killeen, Micheal O'Collerain; Ray Silke, John Divilly, Sean de Paor (0-1); Sean O'Domhnaill, Michael Donnellan; Kenny Naughton, Shay Walsh (0-3) Lorcan O'Collerain, Derek Savage (1-2), Kieran Comer, John Donnellan (0-5). Subs: Padraig Lally for McNamara, Tommie Joyce for Divilly, Matthew Clancy for Naughtonhttp://www.galwayindependent.com/sport/sport/square-ball-%11-21st-january-2009/

Year caught up with Crokes. They were 5 up with 20 to go in normal time but the legs ran out of them. Boden v Judes in the final on sunday. Nice to see 2 new teams in the final. Don't think Crokes will be too gutted- looked knackered at the end.
