JThere's no chance of McGeeney coming, there's a better chance of Grimley coming in now with the new Chairman. However I reckon that''s wishful thinking anyway as I reckon POR will be back unfortunately.

Who is the new chairman?

Paul's not new to the job, he has been the man in charge for all of POR's reign and has done nothing to remedy the situation.  I would have thought he would have been a man of action and would not have suffered fools gladly either on the Board or in county management.

Paul duggan was not the chairman whenever Paddy O'Rourke got appointed. What really was he meant to do in the meantime. POR deserved the 2nd year at the job and he could hardly have done anything to get rid of him midway through a season. If there is no action taken now then then there would have to be questions asked of the current CB as its obv a change has to be made!!

General discussion / Re: Ireland or God?

Right for the slow Cavan &Monaghan men. MGHU has taken great delight in rubbishing other peoples views on God. It can be a sensitive subject and can be debated with tact by most people. Not by MGHU tho, the numerous images posted up on here are a good example. So I decided to take a similar tact with his views on Ireland and who is or isn't Irish,  of which he's posted some amount of crap throughout this board.

Do ya's actually really believe someone could call an Irishman less Irish because they left Ireland? Feck me half the country would be considered foreign!

So in Summary, I suppose I just don't like MGHU, I find the majority of his posts arrogant and dis-respectful and many with a common theme of belitting people from The North's views especially if god forbid they make a comment on the South. Hence why I decided to pick a fight with him.

i think Mayo can beat Kerry. Kerry would remind u of Brazil this year, outstanding going forward but very suspect when put on the backfoot and defending. I really think they are there for the taking if Mayo show the same intensity as yesterday. I think Tyrone will play Mayo in the final with the red hands taking it. Any team that wins the AI has a serious squad of players with subs ready to come on that can really change a game. Look at the men that Tyrone put on yesterday. Most notably Justin McMahon who i think is 1 of the best players in the country. The other teams have 1 maybe 2 game changers not on their starting 15, Tyrone have a bench fullve them. Tyrone will be unbelievably psyched for Dublin after last year and the long layoff will have done dub no good. I think Mickey will have learnt a lot from there ulster meeting and they will beat Donegal (who id love to see win it) in semi!! My teeth are Gritting while i type this tho  ;)

Heard a bit of a radio ad last night on Cool FM- for some alocholic beverage.  This guy tries to get his mates in the mood for a night out and gives a big, funny and half-inspirational speech.  Anyone know which beer I'm talking about it, trying to find it on youtube!

Yeah its a brilliant add alright, think its for Bud

Although POR seems like a decent fella and has undoubtedly done his best it would be better all round if Armagh start with a clean slate next year.

Despite what some think we are not overflowing with top class players. We have a few of these but there are a few who are living off former glories and a few who have had more than enough chances.

There needs to be some new thinking next year with hopefully a few of the minors from the last few years brought through.

With the right manager and structure in place we could be a top 8 side on a consistent basis. Someone mentioned how fluid Tyrone looked going forward but it is only a few weeks since Derry looked the same against Armagh (not to mention Monaghan last year).

Best post ive seen on the matter yet!!

In fairness, Tony Davis won an all ireland final single handedly.

Just a pity he won it for Derry!!
To be fair davis was extremely harshly sent off that day!!

I'd think that Dara O Se might bump McDermott off the list. In a few years Tomas and Marc might join him.

From my own perspective I'd suggest that any team without Conor Gormley, Colm Cooper and Brian McGuigan in it should be null and void, while Donaghy and Cavanagh should be very close.
I agree dara should be in there possibly for john mcderm, mcguig was/is a great player but Giles was better. Scored more from play and was an ace free taker as well as doing the "Quarterback" role.

I came across this on the old board - we were asked to name our team of the last 20 years, 5 years ago.

A poster called Printiseach collated the stats and here was the result:

Team of 1985-2005

(the 2 numbers at the end are 'positional votes' and 'total votes'

1- John O'Leary ------ Dublin --- Leinster ---- 18 ---- 18
2- Robbie O'Malley ---- Meath -- Leinster ----- 8 ----- 8
3- Darren Fay -------- Meath -- Leinster ---- 19 ----- 19
4- Tony Scullion ------ Derry --- Ulster ------ 18 ---- 18
5- Seamus Moynihan -- Kerry --- Munster --- 15 ----- 17
6- Kieran McGeeney --- Armagh - Ulster ----- 13 ----- 15
7- Martin O'Connell ---- Meath -- Leinster --- 13 ----- 14
8- John McDermott ---- Meath -- Leinster --- 12 ----- 12
9- Anthony Tohill ------ Derry --- Ulster ----- 23 ----- 23
10- Maurice Fitzgerald - Kerry --- Munster --- 12 ----- 21
11- Larry Tompkins ---- Cork --- Munster --- 13 ------ 14
12- Trevor Giles ------- Meath - Leinster ----- 6 ------ 7
13- Colm O'Rourke ----- Meath - Leinster --- 14 ------ 18
14- Peter Canavan ---- Tyrone - Ulster ----- 16 ------ 21
15- Mickey Linden ----- Down -- Ulster ----- 16 ------ 17

Sine then (2005), who has been displaced (if any) if we arrived at at team of the last 25 years (1986-2001)

Gooch?
Cavanagh?
Love these kindve discussions, cant really remember much of tompkins and O'Rourke bar and odd video so id move giles to 11 and put dooher to 10 (Tyrone fecker but a phenomenal number 10) and gooch to 13. Possibly sean og de paor to 7, as i cant remember enough of martin o connell!! Cluxton to goals and sean marty for o'malley for the same reason. Honourable mentions to Kieran donaghy, steve o'neill, steve mcdonnell, cav, Ja fallon, padraic joyce, michael donnellan, ah jesus i could go on all night here

Got him mixed up with Matthew Donnelly. Kyle Coney definitely a Minor winner.

They're all minor winners except Mark Donnelly.

No doubt the older lads are minor winners from the 98,01 sides but i was talking about the new additions to the side this year.

Did Mark Donnelly not win ai minor in 01?

Laziness I guess! I completely agree Martin Clarke should not be in there. . . Jamie Clarke was mentioned in a post on his own and I didn't really notice Marty Clarkes name being in there.

Wise up Rav and pull your head out of your arse!!!  ;)
Thats more like it  :D
