I see the Open is on setanta ireland as well, the free one on UPC / Virgin Media ..
Although it seems to have been rebranded Eir Sport 1 ..

Can anyone summarise the main changes that have been brought in with the development of the academy and what cracks it has covered when compared to the previous setup?

Good interview with Benny here, were he discusses the changes :

Good analysis Declan, but I can't see the Greens getting the 2 seats you've predicted with Eamonn Ryan and Catherine Martin ..

If the bookies are correct, these 2 seats would actually be 1 Labour ( Kevin Humphres) and 1 additional FG (Josepha Madigan) coming in ahead of Shatter ..

I see that in terms of the Draw, we are definitely in Pot 4 with the North :

The seeding pots for the UEFA EURO 2016 finals draw in Paris on 12 December will be published on UEFA.com on Wednesday morning. With two berths left to fill, two of the confirmed qualifiers still do not know where they will end up.

On Tuesday evening, Denmark face Sweden and Slovenia host Ukraine for the last finals places. As we explain, there are four possible ways the pots could end up.

Key points
• Ukraine will be in Pot 2 if they win, otherwise the Czech Republic will be promoted from Pot 3.

• Slovenia will be in Pot 4 if they win, allowing Turkey to move up to Pot 3, taking the place freed by the Czech Republic.

• Sweden or Denmark will be in Pot 3.

• Hosts France are not allocated a pot as they will automatically take position one in Group A.

If Sweden and Ukraine win:

• Pot 1: Spain, Germany, England, Portugal, Belgium

• Pot 2: Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Ukraine

• Pot 3: Czech Republic, Sweden, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary

• Pot 4: Turkey, Republic of Ireland, Iceland, Wales, Albania, Northern Ireland

If Sweden and Slovenia win:

• Pot 1: Spain, Germany, England, Portugal, Belgium

• Pot 2: Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic

• Pot 3: Sweden, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Turkey

• Pot 4: Republic of Ireland, Slovenia, Iceland, Wales, Albania, Northern Ireland

If Denmark and Ukraine win:

• Pot 1: Spain, Germany, England, Portugal, Belgium

• Pot 2: Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Ukraine

• Pot 3: Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Denmark

• Pot 4: Turkey, Republic of Ireland, Iceland, Wales, Albania, Northern Ireland

If Denmark and Slovenia win:

• Pot 1: Spain, Germany, England, Portugal, Belgium

• Pot 2: Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic

• Pot 3: Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Denmark, Turkey

• Pot 4: Republic of Ireland, Slovenia, Iceland, Wales, Albania, Northern Ireland

The pots are based on the UEFA national team coefficient rankings, which were confirmed after the end of the qualifying group stage in October. Pot 1 only has five teams as France are not involved in the draw. The other three pots have six teams each, with one side from each pot in all six groups.

Last month the five teams in Pot 1 and five of the sides in Pot 2 were known along with four of the sides in Pot 4. Since then, Poland, Romania and Slovakia have been confirmed in Pot 3 along with play-off winners Hungary, while the Republic of Ireland, who qualified on Monday, are sure to be in Pot 4.

GAA Discussion / Re: Search for New Mayo Manager
October 06, 2015, 02:04:13 PM
http://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-games/gaelic-football/stephen-rochford-clear-favourite-for-mayo-job-31585430.html

Stephen Rochford has emerged as the clear frontrunner to be appointed the new Mayo football manager.

One bookmaking firm announced yesterday that it had suspended betting on the current Corofin manager taking charge of the Connacht champions after a player heave saw Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly step down.

Rochford, who has previously been involved with the Mayo minors, guided Galway outfit Corofin to an All-Ireland club title last March as they swept past Derry's Slaughtneil.

And the Crossmolina native was backed into 1/4 from 11/8 before Paddy Power pulled the market on Sunday night.

General discussion / Re: Rugby world cup 2015
October 06, 2015, 10:10:05 AM
Seeding for each group for the 2015 World Cup were based on their respective IRB Rankings. The draw, hosted by Will Greenwood, was conducted on 3 December 2012 in London, and used the World Rankings as of that day, just after the 2012 end-of-year rugby union internationals, which finished on 1 December 2012.[33] The 12 automatic qualifiers from 2011, were allocated to their respective bands based on their rankings;

Band 1, made up of the top 4 automatic qualifiers, (1–4)
Band 2, made up of the next 4 automatic qualifiers, (5–8)
Band 3, made up of the next 4 automatic qualifiers (9–12)
The remaining 8 qualifying places were allocated to Bands 4 and 5, based on previous World Cup playing strength;

Band 4, made up of Oceania 1, Europe 1, Asia 1 and Americas 1
Band 5, made up of Africa 1, Europe 2, Americas 2 and play-off winner
This meant the 20 teams, qualified and qualifiers, were seeded thus:

Pot 1

New Zealand (1)
South Africa (2)
Australia (3)
France (4)

Pot 2

England (5)
Ireland (6)
Samoa (7)
Argentina 8

Pot 3

Wales (9)
Italy (10)
Tonga (11)
Scotland (12)

Pot 4

Canada (Americas 1)
Japan (Asia 1)
Georgia (Europe 1)
Fiji (Oceania 1)

Pot 5

Namibia (Africa 1)
United States (Americas 2)
Romania (Europe 2)
Uruguay (Repechage)

The draw saw a representative randomly draw a ball from a pot, the first drawn ball goes to Pool A, the second Pool B, the third Pool C and the fourth Pool D. The draw began with Pot 5, drawn by All Blacks captain Richie McCaw, followed by Pot 4, drawn by RWC 2015 Ambassador Maggie Alphonsi, then Pot 3, drawn by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, Pot 2, drawn by the then Chief Executive for RWC 2015 Debbie Jevans, and finally Pot 1, drawn by IRB chairman Bernard Lapasset.

Great read at lunchtime this and something I never heard of. Maybe some of the Waterford posters would have heard of it.

Seems amazing that the truth never came out and how the Garda investigated the matter. Great reflection of Irish rural life at the time involving a lot of the main pillars of society at the time.

Oh yes. It really is verboten to discuss it in Stradbally (home of Brick Walsh) to this day. You couldn't make it up.
