Top Student Eating Houses (in no particular order)

Temps - (which generally ended up with an insult being fired at old hot chocolate followed by a request to leave)

The chaplaincy - couldnt beat wee Mary for a chap special (had to be almost sober for this)

Feel free to add...

One's closed and the other is dead. As happens the best of us, you gown up, move on and student trends change...

Aye its been a day or 2 since the holylands had the pleasure of my company.  But like Sideline I am sitting here with the rose tinted glasses on thinking of those great days in Renshaws when Fairytale of New York was played on the jukebox at least 30 times but you never got sick of listening to it!

Centra Botanic - (roll and a bottle of lucozade was the real ticket)

Harry Ramsdens Botanic - on a soberish evening

The chaplaincy - couldnt beat wee Mary for a chap special (had to be almost sober for this)

Esperanto's - only when clean airlocked

Helens - the greasiest fry served by two aul chatterboxes - but it was deadly for the cure (and close to the hatfield)

Cafe Ro-An - something similar (the forerunner to Helen's)

The Hatfield/Renshaws baskets - just the ticket for a thirsty student in the throes of a rip of drink

Feel free to add...

The Apartment.

One of the most pretentious spots in Belfast City Centre, and that is saying something. My wife was in it with work one day for a meal and four of them had to send it back. "Clean rotten" i believe is the industry term.........

Have to agree... that place really does attract a higher class of tosser.

For a bit of class in beautiful surroundings thats noit extortionate like Deanes ou can't beat Bourbon beside The Crown.   The Square on Dublin road is a little more plain inside but grea food.

If you like seafood try the Mourne Seafood Bar beside Kellys cellars.  Very reasonable and a great atmosphere.

If you are a complete tight arse go onto www.5pm.co.uk but yr missus wont be too impressed when the restaurant announce you are on the cheapo menu for her birthday! :P

Have to agree, the food and atmosphere in bourbon is top notch but i find it depends a lot on the table you get.

Renshaws yes, Dukes the very odd time for a game of pool.

I had my triangle of safety: Hatfield, Renshaws, Bot.  Anywhere outside of that I began to feel uncomfortable. Never went anywhere else.

Sideline are you me?  Seldom ventured outside the 'triangle of safety' myself!  Ahh the good old days when anyone who arrived in 'shaws after mid-day was a pussy.

Third man tackle wouldn't be the only mythical rule. The "rolling  ball" one really gets me. Where did people ever get that stupid idea from?

Or what about the famous shout in hurling... "He's got no hurl ref!"

Young lad on a site I once worked on was sent for a bucket to catch the sparks from the grinder.  Here we are standing watching this eejit running around behind the man with the grinder with this bucket desperately trying not to miss any sparks.  One of the funniest thing I have/will ever see.

Well, this "None of us really gives a Fcuk about Dido" Race on the two Boards is really hotting up, I'll say.

OWC currently leads the number of Posts by 40 to 33, from 22 different posters to GAABoard's 21. That said, the GAABoard has had 880 viewings, to a mere 825 on OWC.

My, this is exciting!

P.S. Thank you, Donagh, for alerting us to this burning issue, it's absolutely riveting. And there I was, wondering why you spend so much time lurking around OWC without posting. So maybe you're more than just a sad Voyeur, after all. Keep up the good work! ;)

Despite protestations of apathy and an attempt to make this sound like a non-issue it is obviously enough of an issue to work it's way under the skin of one of our esteemed MLA's....

The 'Happy Brithday XXXXX' threads that people insist on starting - can we have one thread where anyone can wish anyone else happy birthday.  >:( Do we really need a thread for each individual ffs...

If you dont like it, dont open it

I dont.  Doesn't make me dislike them any less though.

Donny Doherty thread for AZ's contribution, best thing I've seen on the board in any year I've been about.

Hardstation's Hub story is the funniest post.

There was an awful clamour a few months back about the board going to hell but if you look hard enough there's plenty of quality here yet. Plenty of shit too but it's always worth a read. Not a bad year.

I totally agree - AZ's contributions about Ferbane's run to the county title were top notch - hair raising stuff!

Funniest thread imo had to be the youngfella's girlfriend saga - with mayoman's timely interjections! I didn't know there was such a thing as comic timing on a discussion board till that day.

In no particular order (from my limited experience) I would have to say that the grumpiest posters I have seen would have to be... drumroll please....

POG
Puckoon
Ziggy
Evil Genius - but in fairness he has to put up with a fair bit from our wans. :)

Although sometimes I can get right and grumpy myself ???
