GAA Discussion / Re: Tír Eoghain vs Ciarraí

I enjoy a game were there is close marking, we're often told when playing to "keep a hand on your man". Most forwards know that a good defender will try to stay in contact with the forward when going for a ball. You seem to see this as cynical and negative. I don't, a good forward will either be quick enough to get away from the defender a la Gooch or big enough and strong enough to hold of their marker like SON or Stevie McDonald. You seem to quick to glorify attacking fotball without seeing the importance of close defending. And yes some times this close marking can spill over into a free, but I wouldn't want the game to get any less phyiscal. And sure if the free is given aren't the team being punished anyway.
Fouls will happen in a game. And if the only alternative to stop that happening is to tone down the physicality of the game, then I'd rather stick to the way it's played at the minute, warts and all.

Only getting round to posting on this now. Good preformance by liverpool alright. Crouch was on top form and took the goals well. Was impressed with Aurelio as well. Had big doubts over him to be honest but his crosses were inch perfect for most of the game. And Mashcerano looks like he might unsettle Sissiko (sp). He can make the tackles and is also able to ball a ball over 10 yards. His ball over the top to Pennant for Crouch's third was great. Tho he just might not have the engin that Momo has.
But have to be honest I thought Arsenal were terrible in patches. I know Liverpool closed them down early and put pressure on them, but you'd still expect them to put up a better performance than that.
So fingers crossed we can hold out for 3rd place and maybe get a bit farther in that auld European cup thingy we seem to like so much!!

The game is called GAELIC FOOTBALL - is the main aim should be to kick the ball and as for calling a kicking style basketball is hilarious....

What the feck has the name got to do with it? Forgive for for thinking Gaelic football was about scoring points and defending well!! You like a long kicked game, I don't but each to their own that way.

Would you like to name the Tyrone players who are fit but cant kick a ball properly??

dublin can be as negative and cynical as any team. But you seem to have a real soft spot for Tyrone and needing to point out their faults all the time. I wonder why??

Beragh relied heavily on their CHF who scored 1-6 out of 1-7.

Do you know who the CHF was deal me in? Is Mickey ward playing for Beragh this year?

But surely I don't see how someone can advocate being happy with deliberate cynical fouling, no attempt to actually kick the ball etc...

No harm DFS this "cynical fouling happens in most games I see now. But you've always had a wee bee in your bonnet when it comes to Tyrone and always feel the need to draw attention to their Fouls and style of play. And just because you like a basketball type of football with constant long kick passes in on top of players doesn't mean everyone does.
just create really fit players who are more interested in fouling and defending than trying to play football?

So now Tyrone are at fault for having fit players??? God you couldn't make it up!!

Is Mugsy injured? Because I can't see him lined out in the subs even?

I still reckon Tyrone shouldn't bother appealing it. As I said before mickey prob achieved what he wanted from the McKenna Cup and would have even if they had lost the final to Donegal. So his best bet now like Kerry Mike said is to try and create a siege mentality, rather than dragging the whole thing out in an appeal. Because if they do appeal and they do win you can be sure as hell know that the Ulster Council will throw the book at them for any problems in the future. So just take it as a kick in the teeth and use it as motivation for the rest of the league, cause we sure need something at the minute!!

Tell me was there not a rule that when the uni's were out, all players were then allowed to play for the counties?

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is ready to swoop for Athletic Bilbao defender Mikel San Jose. (Daily Mirror)

Anyone know much about this guy?

ummm well me thinks the Ricey decision of last time should be remembered alright now. The reason Ricey got of then was because there had been similar cases within other counties ( you know who you are) were the incident was over looked because the ref had dealt with it at the time. Yet the GAA went against this rule to try and ban Ricey but didn't with the other incidents. So Tyrone used these precidents to over turn the suspension. So i'm sure that it wouldn't be hard to get another counties Teamsheet were there was changes and bring It to light to show bias. But what's the point. Like someone said Mickey prob got what he wanted from the McKenna cup so just let it drop now and be the bigger man. When Mickey does leave Tyrone management he won't be remembered for the amount of McKenna cups he won.
