Even Fergie has given up hope now, he's accepted Mourinho is on the way. I said at the time that LVG shouldn't have let Giggs anyway near the place and he'd regret it, i doubt LVG will be a complimentary about Giggs as Moyes was.

The club needs a lift and Mourinho will provide it.

Two brilliant games yesterday, its a shame they don't show the provincial finals too.

I thought the best two teams won on the day although Mayo were very fortunate with those 2 late frees but they did deserve their win. Cork took some outstanding points in the second half and they were deserving winners, as mentioned by another poster there a ridiculous black card for the Cork corner forward near the end as one of the Monaghan players fell into him.

I'm surprised to see Cork are 8/15 favourites, thought the betting would be closer than that although Cork do look to have the better set of forwards.

Great come back for Liverpool especially against a better team although this Dortmund team has a fair bit to go before its as good as Klopps.

Origi looked good and Coutinho would be some player if he didn't go missing in the winter.

Enjoyed last night. West Ham hadn't lost at home since August so it was a very good result. I agree that Fosu Mensah was the best player on the pitch. He's an absolute beast. Am really excited about how good he can become. Similarly Rashford and of course Martial. I do think Martial looks a little tired at times. He was sloppy once or twice when he should have been in for goal chances but that's being very harsh. Amazingly Fellaini played well. Hard to explain. I thought United looked hungry and attacked quicker last night and when that happens they're a decent side. I've no idea why it doesn't happen all the time.

According to a report I saw today Charlton and Ferguson have knocked Mourinho on the head again. Fair play to them. Amazes me that such a "great manager" hasn't been snapped up after all these months out of a job. It's because he's a liability and the team he won the league with downed tools on him months later.

Come on Seanie, what big job has come available? As for Charlton & Fergie they don't have much say on what goes on, a lot of fans I speak to think power hungry Fergie should retire properly; He's really start to annoy a lot of fans with this Giggs nonsense.

I can barely recall Rashford missing a chance so far, comparisons to Macheda are idiotic. Macheda was 17 going on 27 and had no pace.

Poor for the first ten minutes and last 15 but in between we were outstanding and should have scored goals. In fairness West Ham let us play and gave Carrick far too much time and space on the ball.

Fosu-Mensah got better as the game went on, he had an outstanding second half and was my man of the match; I'm looking forward to see him getting a chance in midfield although he may have to settle for been first choice right back for next season, he's some prospect. What a goal by Rashford, he's had some 6 weeks; I can't recall him missing too many chances in that time and 2 of the goals he's scored have been created by himself.

As for Mourinho people need to look at how many youngsters got a chance when he was in charge of Real, he gave nearly 20 youngster their debuts whilst in charge; Most of them were just not good enough but some Jesse & Casemiro are involved every week whilst Moratta has become a top player at Juve.

Ray Wilkins was on the radio this morning defending Mourhino about De Bruyne, he said he's been astonished at what he's achieved the last few years as he never showed he had that talent at Chelsea whilst he admitted he should have kept Lukaku it was the player who wanted to leave.

As for Simeone his team aren't any better to watch than Mourinho's and he doesn't speak English so its a non starter.

Good post - the tripe about Mourinho not bring through young players is very dependent on there actually being young players good enough at the clubs he was at.  Chelsea simply haven't produced anybody of note therefore why would he play a youngster, simply for the sake of it?  Van Gaal has only did it because his hand has been forced with injuries etc.  Hopefully we get Mourinho, we need the best manager in the business.

Exactly, can't think of too many Chelsea players who've proved him wrong; There is something seriously wrong with their setup as their now into their 5th FA Youth Cup final in a row which has resulted in very few players from it becoming top players; Many have moved on elsewhere and not had much of an impact since either. Mourinho if he did get the job would hardly ignore Rashford & Fosu-Mensah, Varane & Santon were both very important players for him at Inter & Real and they were both teenagers at the time.

As for the football it won't be any worse than what Fergie served up in his last 4 seasons, people want to take the red tinted glasses off about Fergie's football mainly in the last few years.

Now its Dwight Yorke's turn to come out and state the case for Giggs, after Robbo, Vidic & Cole have already done so. Their all Fergie's muppets, as club ambassadors I'm surprised Woodward is letting them away with it considering he has no time for Giggs.

I'm surprise Fergie is pushing this nonsense as there is very little appetite for Giggs to be the manager amongst United's support, think he got something like less than 5% of the vote in a recent poll in one of the fanzines.

I think Mourinho would win the title with United, or at least press very close depending on what Man City, Chelsea and others do. However I think he'd leave a stench around the place when he left, inevitably after about 3 years.

Yeah I dont think there is that 'love' for Mourinho around OT, but it does leave you with the question if not him who?

Why would Poch leave Spurs they are on an upward curve and have a new stadium on the way.

I think any manager coming in is going to have a serious go at the squad and would be a massive turnover of players. Not that I think it is required but I can see it happening.

Who are the other realistic candidates?

New stadiums can also mean a lot of uncertainty on the pitch in order to balance the books. Look at Arsenal. Poch would leave as United are a miles bigger club than Spurs!

Its a tough one, if Spurs can add 2 or 3 quality players to that squad I'd make them favourites to win the league next season with Pochettino still in charge. But on the other hand he left Soton to join a bigger club and United would likely double his money and you never know if he'll get the opportunity again. I do think United's chances of getting him would improve if he won the league with Spurs which doesn't look likely.

Not that I am a mad fan of Poch but I seriously dont think he would consider leaving Spurs at the moment. He has some of the best young talent and is based in London. He knows as does any one that United is a serious rebuild job if not in terms of squad number in terms of morale and confidence.

If that is the two options Poch or Koeman for me thats not much of a choice.

Who knows but money talks and he's got from for moving to bigger clubs. I still think we've got some very good players and he'd have the money to put it right.

I think we'll end up with Mourinho, its the most logical appointment for the Glazers to make.

The 4/1 has dropped to 5/2 lol.

Get the Irish world on Wednesday lad.  Report on lancashire.

That's some win you had, I am at home at minute so missed the game. That Grugan boy good? Head he is a great player.

It was a very good game especially for this time of year. Oisins for the last few years have been in better shape this time of year then the rest of us so good to get the win. Aye, he's certainly talented.

Why aren't Lawrences in the Senior League? Will they play Senior Championship this year?

LVG loses 3 Nil and says Man U will always be bigger than the team they just lost to, because of his team's  history. Probably. But it reminded me of a Man Utd chant at Anfield

You are shit
no one cares about your history...

Spurs haven't won a title since 1961 and looks likely they won't do it again this season. He was asked a stupid question and United will always be a bigger club than Spurs.

As for the game, we offered nothing going forward but that was the way we were set up as we never had any more than one player in the box when we were about to cross it. As soon as Fosu-Mensah went off Spurs became very dangerous down his side, I thought he was excellent; He should have been first choice since xmas, I do think he'll be a centre mid eventually.

If we win all our remaining games we'd probably finish top 4 but we haven't a hope with LVG still here.
Question is whether Man U go back to their f**king perch (Copyright A Ferguson) or stay down like Liverpool , polishing the glorious history.
The last downtime Man U had lasted more than 20 years

Liverpool are still a bigger club than Spurs, a lot bigger.
Obviously. But the issue is what happens to man utd now that it has lost its mojo.
and the influence of the billionaire class changes everything. Liverpool is much bigger club than Man City but...

United's turnover is about 50% more than Liverpool, United can compete financially with anyone should they wish to do so. Players care about how much money they earn and United pay as well as anyone including Real & Barca.

Fosu Mensah was the best player on the field prior to the injury, his positioning was excellent and he has. pace, he is a nailed on sure fire starter next season.

Obviously young talent is not an exact science, but why spend the money on Darmian of you have this lad in the pipe line, doesnt make much sense to me.

Time for the season to be over and the board to decide what is going to happen if anything with the manager.

Fosu-Mensah is not a right back, don't think he's played no more than 3 or 4 games in that position in the u21's. Its hard to make a case for Darmian staying, he's very poor going forward and not exactly that good defensively.

He should be although you'd never know if it was Mourinho who was in charge, his versatility should make him popular with whoever is in charge. Ro-Shaun Williams is another youngster who should have be in the squad.
