I'd be delighted if the away goal was done away, can't think of the top of my head if United have ever benefited from it but definitely remember  going out because of it.

While we're at it what kind of logic is behind Real & City getting 2 days extra rest then Bayern & Atletico. Its ridiculous and gives Bayern an advantage considering they've a huge lead over 2nd place and can rest players whilst Atletico can't afford to rest too many given their level at the top.

I've no optimism and probably wouldn't come over for it only for the wife, getting beat by Mayo has become far too much of regular occurrence.

I had far much more hope this time last year but haven't seen anything this year to suggest we've closed the gap, if anything its probably widened.

Only 4000 have renewed their seasons tickets at United so far compared to over 20,000 this time last year. That will have really spooked the Glazers.

How many are on the waiting list? I imagine they'll not have too much trouble selling them at all.

There isn't a waiting list, since OT was expanded to 75,000 its been easy to get tickets for most games apart from the big games although the last 3 years has been even easier, have mates who've given away tickets at half price several times over the last few years and on a few occasions like Palace last week they couldn't give them away for free.

There's no waiting list for season tickets for one of the most popular clubs on the planet? You can just go and buy one?

They might put you on the 'waiting list' but you'll certainly get one. They do exceptionally well on the corporate side, so the ST's that include which a meal and free drink and cost a between £3500 & £8000 do tend to sell out every season.

There is some dissent amongst ST holders alright but there won't be any wholesale boycott of tickets whether or not Van Gaal stays (which he won't). Not sure of the accuracy of the 4000 vs 20000 figures but can be partly explained by fans having the cost of a cup semi final and final  both in terms of ticket and travel to bear in the period that most of them would be paying for their season tickets. United have put the renewal date back because of this.

I agree there weren't be wholesale boycott, but there will be a few who won't renew if LVG stays. Fans are been crafty and using the gap between now and renewal to put pressure on the club to get rid of him. United are very quick to take money from ST holders for cup games so they want to make the club wait as long as possible before the renew.

I will be very surprised if he's not sacked before the deadline date which is June 1st.

According to Forbes billionaires issue the Joe dude who owns TH is richer than the Glazers

The guy who owns QPR is one of the richest people in the world, doesn't always follow they'll put their money into a club

FFP stops them from doing so although the likes of City's & PSG's owners are creative to get around that.

MM theres no way in hell he'll stay if United were to double/treble his salary. That stadium needs paid for!

Lest be realistic here - despite Uniteds dip I'd put money on them to win more trophies than Spurs over the next 10 years!

Agreed

Keane also held Man United to ransom over his contract which made him the highest paid player in England. He knew his worth and knew going to Man United ultimately would make him more money. Roy is no mug. Harry Kane the ex-gooner is no mug.

In fairness Keane the best player in the league at the time and one of the best players in the world and his wage didn't reflect that. He could have easily doubled his wage at the time, Bayern & Juve offered him double what United ended up paying him.

I wonder who will be sold

My name is Arry, Arry Kane. €60m to Man United.

For €60 million? Not a chance, you would have to go close to breaking a world record to get him.

I'm pretty sure anyway him and Alli or anyone that might attract a megabucks offer will stay at least another year and play in the Champions League for Spurs..

Man United are still Man United, biggest club in England, top 4 in the World.

Spurs have a stadium to pay for £100m for Arry and Alli would go a long way towards helping to pay for that.

Man United have a history of buying the best available British talent, it's always being part of their model. Spurs have always being a selling club.

For the player it will always come down to money, 200K a week at Man United or 100K a week at Spurs. What player has ever turned down the money?
Shearer

Shearer earned more money at Blackburn then he would have done at United, it was probably the same at Newcastle. United weren't a huge wage payer back then. Blackburn offered Keane a higher wage then United did in 1993.

As for Kane he's going nowhere this summer and if Spurs continue to do well then then he'll certainly stay for a few more years although their going to have to up his wage especially if he has a good summer in France. I thought I remember reading he was on about 60k a week at Spurs, that is a long way short of what United would offer him.

Worrying laoislad, I don't think you'll be far from the truth for once.

::)

Maybe if they had LVG's £300m

I cant see where they are getting this money from to have a 'new' team... anyways seen a pic of Schmeichel and his son at Old Trafford after they had won the EPL... Kasper must have been 2.... hope they do win on Sat

United or Liverpool?

Wouldn't have thought MUFC would give a toss about a few disgruntled season ticket holders, they will soon be replaced. Ticket revenue is small beer to clubs now, especially from next season.

Every penny counts to the Glazers, ticket revenue is worth over a £100m to United.

Liverpool have now gone a longer period of not winning a league then United did from 1967 until 1993.

I doubt anyone would have predicted that in 1990.

True.  By definition when your the champion you are the best so it's hard to see a team falling so far that they won't be challenging the following year.  The souness era devastated Liverpool ona playing front and there was chronic mismanagement on the commercial side in  the early 90s  at at time when United and arsenal were moving forward in this area.

Then came the sugardaddy era and Liverpool were rarely able to compete.  2013-14 was the missed opportunity.  Thankfully Leicester have restored my faith that next year is our year!  ;) ;)

Liverpool always back their manager financially, just they just bought very badly. I know its been mentioned to be several times that you spent over £12m on 5 centre half's from 91 to 94 when the transfer record was £3.75m.

Lads, if United win the cup, which they surely will now, and finish 4th, which looks certainly possible given Arsenal's stuttering, would that constitute a good season, given the current circumstances? Given the fears maybe 6 weeks ago, that's probably a great result!

The football has been horrendous and he's affected season ticket renewals so he's a goner.

But did the season tickets get affected because people thought the season was falling apart, or was it really about style of play? As you said, the stuff Ferguson played in the last 2 or 3 years wasn't exactly high octane either. If the season gets rescued, would the season tickets get renewed in a rush?

This season has been taken to a new level in terms of dullness, its been horrendous and speaking to older reds its a lot worse than under Sexton.

All the ST holders I know have spoken to the club and all told them they'll not renew if LVG stays although most of them will renew if he stays but are using the gap between now and renewal time to put pressure on the club but there are a few I follow on twitter who won't renew. The club have put back the date you date you have to renew by until after the cup final, they changed it a few weeks ago. Even LVG hasn't been as bullish about staying in recent weeks.

Interesting. The bar will have been set quite high for his successor, no matter who it is. Attacking, fast football, that returns at least CL qualification and a major trophy. That's a tough gig.

We are the most boring team to watch I've ever seen, its not that hard to beat that.

Its a decent squad with some very good players and some brilliant young prospects. A good manager who will have a lot of money to spend should bring in 3 or 4 top players and should have us challenging for the league as its hard to make a case for one team running away with it.
