[Home and Away star dies of cancer]

I know we shouldn't speak of Home and Away, and normally I wouldn't.

However, with the death of Belina Emmett (Rebecca Fisher) last night, after all long battle with Cancer. I wanted to pay my respects. Rest In Peace Belinda.

Australian actress Belinda Emmett, who starred as Rebecca Fisher in Home and Away, has died after battling cancer.
The 32-year-old was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998 and left the soap opera while undergoing treatment.

She died in a Sydney hospital on Saturday surrounded by her family, including talk show host Rove McManus, whom she married last year.

Australian Prime Minister John Howard led tributes to the actress, saying: "She fought a very courageous battle".

Emmett's diagnosis came at the height of her fame in Australia.

She went into remission following surgery to remove a malignant tumour and a course of radiotherapy in 1998.

She returned to television, playing nurse Jodi Horner in the Australian TV drama All Saints, but was diagnosed with secondary bone cancer in 2001.

Distraught

Emmett's last television appearance was with husband McManus on an ABC television Christmas Special, in December 2005.

McManus posted a message on his website telling fans he was too distraught to return to his celebrity chat show for the time being.

"This is a very difficult period for all of us and some time away is the best thing for me right now," he wrote.

"In the meantime I want to extend my sincerest thanks for all of your heartfelt messages and condolences.

"That Belinda meant so much to so many people, genuinely means a lot to me."

"It is with great sadness we advise that Belinda Emmett's battle with cancer has ended," her family said in a statement.

"Those close to her have requested respect for their privacy at this time."

ziggysego, I am not sure where your game will be next weekend but watch out for the big Drumhowan full forward James McElroy...he is their dangerman.  It is hard to judge just how good this Drumhowan side is.  Everything they kicked today went over for them but, with a little bit of luck, An Port Mor could have come out on top.  They have a sound midfield and very lively attack but can be vulnerable in defence when run at.  Check out my match report above!

That was some win for Greencastle today.  I reckon you can get the better of those Monaghan boys in the semi-finals.  Good luck.  It is great to see the three Tyrone teams still alive and kicking in the Ulster Championship!

It was a great win for Greencastle today. My wee brother has taken great delight in knowing he is the first person for Greencastle, to score in a Ulster Championship match ever!

However, the results may have flattered us too much. Ardoyne, from what I hear, is primarily a hurling club, so there wasn't much competition for us today. Sorry if anyone from Ardoyne uses this board. I fear that this could in turn, turn out to be a bad start for Greencastle. That said, I'm sure Teague will keep their feets firmly on the ground.

Clones hosted an excellent double bill of games today in the Ulster Club Championships.  Two terrific games...even though the An Port Mor result was very disappointing.

Anyone know how the Drumhowen v An Port Mor game went? Greencastle has been drawn against the winners of this game, but we haven't heard any results from this game yet.

I know what happens ziggy but i dont want to put spoilers on the new board. how come your missing the Good Doctors apperance in Belfast. Its getting close, i hope he gets a good crowd.

On a more happier note, isnt it great to see Karl and Susan back again, it just feels right. But for how long!

I'm working on a few projects that the moment, which is taking up a lot of my time. I'm sure once Fletch gets a taste of Belfast, he will be back next year and I'll get to see him then.

As for Karl and Susan, I am delighted. Goes to show you that true love will always win out in the end.
