There should be 8 groups of 4. Top 2 go to play for 'Sam' and bottom 2 play for 'Paidi'. Last 16 games open draw with first playing second and played on a knockout basis. Therefore everyone has the chance to play for the big one.

Both finals to be played on the same day with u17 final taking out  of Croker.

Love to know if teams are doing tackling drills? Even before games you see lads taking shots but why aren't they doing tackling drills? They might get 1 shot a game but how many times will they have to defend? Can anyone please tell me if clubs are getting taught how to tackle and defend?

Defending from all the teams last night was very bad. Bring a sweeper back to sort it is lazy management. Do players get coached to sweep in training like Colm Cavanagh? Coach your team how to defend, attack the ball and play from the front.

Donie Kingston was brilliant last night, worth the admission fee alone

Good points Tony. Does anyone close to the underage setup know if the structures are in place and we're making improvements? U17s were good this year but we need that consistently over the next 5-10 years like Kildare are doing at minor.

Big urban areas like Portlaoise, Portarlington, Mountmellick and Graigue need to targeted as they are not producing enough senior footballers.

Portlaoise seem to have fallen back at underage with St Paul's, Ballyroan and Portarlington doing well. Why is this?

A combined team of Pete and Conway would be good Giovanni.

The next appointment is crucial and hope getting relegated doesn't restrict the financial side of getting in a good management team.

It's a tough job though but you see teams getting momentum  and going from division 4 to division 2 but you need everyone putting their shoulder to the wheel.

2017 has been one of the low points in Laois football and assuming some retirements will come 2018 will be no better (although we should get promoted from division 4). I hope there is a complete review done of Laois football from the bottom to the top by an external person and a plan put in place to get Laois on track. I know Wicklow have used  Pillar Caffrey to complete such an exercise.

Not going to comment on the game yesterday but if it's the last time we see Ross in the Laois jersey I just want to say thank you for all the good times and memories. Ross has been a great servant for Laois and no one can question is commitment and passion for Laois GAA. I would like to see him involved coaching underage teams as we need everyone on board to get Laois football rising again.

Any word on whether any of the panel have dropped off since the Kildare game and are off to the States?

Laois have been training hard since October and no one should question their commitment but the difference in pace, power and turnovers was alarming. In the modern era there shouldn't be such a gap in this aspect. Is it different training methods?

Johnno have club championship with Brigids this week?

What was the team?

Meaney on his day is a big player for Laois but needs to channel his aggresion. He has to start and could operate as a 3rd midfielder as Creedon likes this

Laois v Kildare on Saturday 20th of May. Big weekend for Laois football hopefully they can get it off to a good start and get plenty of support

Why are we in the GAA obsessed with drink bans? Rooney was out drinking a week before a premier league game at the weekend and scored. Rugby players have drinks after games. What you eat is way more important than a few drinks.

Why do we have to go months without a drink at county and club level when we are the 'amateur' players?

Great win tonight against a Louth team who had a championship game under their belts and in Burns have a gem of a forward. In saying that Laois have a gem in Moore who's still very young and will get better and stronger.

Lutteral and Buggie were very good and the senior exposure has brought them on. Hope a good crowd turns up next Wednesday against the old enemy. We need to be more disciplined and can't afford anymore red cards. Momentum is a great thing in sport and hopefully this is the start of a good run

What did Meaney do? Laois were 7 points up when he got the line. You can't afford to have a midfielder and 1 of your more experienced players sent off. Antrim away next is must win

How many times did Tipp walk through the middle  (after getting a quick kick out) without getting tackled? It needs to be worked on before Sligo and hopefully we've some lads back from injury .
