The only solution to the Leinster problem is splitting Dublin. Until the inevitable 10 All Irelands in a row, nothing will change for the forseeable

I agree High Fielder. Unfortunately it's just the gap between Dublin and Leinster and if anything its widening. Laois spent 800k preparing country teams last year yet they are miles ahead from the top table in both codes. You wonder is it sustainable.

On the game itself I thought Timmons was very good. When he goes he'll leave a big gap at #3. We kept running into blind alleys that lead to turnovers, very frustrating. Laois could really do with a full time S&C coach that works with all teams from u14 up. The difference in pace and power is crazy especially with the younger members of the panel.

Very quiet on the football front which is understandable considering what happened on the hurling front.

On Sunday I can see Lilis come in for Lowry and maybe O'Flynn for Lacey. I'd put Piggot on Kilkenny and ask him to follow him wherever he comes. I just hope we give a good account of ourselves Sunday. Jim McGuinness made some good points re Westmeath. They had everyone behind the ball but didnt lay a hand on Dublin so hope we have a plan for both kickous. Our biggest problem is tracking runners and tackling so hopefully Quirke has them switched on for a Dublin onslaught.

There's obviously issues but this was not the platform for airing grievances and I'm surprised Eddie would speak so candidly to a person he wouldn't know all that well. It sounds like he has many issues and his frustration boiled over. I dont think Eddie came out of this well.

I hope Eddie sits down with the county board and iron out the differences as he has been great for Laois hurling an MBE great if they could build on the Clare game.

Surely didnt realise it would be aired considering the language both used. Brennan doesnt come out of it well as not the best platform for airing your grievances. Wooly might have problems getting Eddie on again.

It's very quiet on the football front. Begley back for Sunday? Hard to know how Sunday will go. They need to start with the urgency they showed in the last 10 minutes of the Fermanagh game. The lads showed great character coming back and maintaining their division 2 status. Teams of old would have dropped the head so it was great to see that battling quality. Lilis is a big loss but so too is Mickey Quinn. I'll go for a 2 point win for Laois.

For Laois to be successful they need Portlaoise to be strong but they haven't been doing well at underage for a few years now. Has their move of home grounds affected playing numbers? Hassle for kids to have to get a lift to training/matches.

I watched a good few of the club games and thought the standard wasn't great. Skill levels were poor and the S&C fron teams didnt appear to be at senior level. Do all club teams have an S&C coach? Rarely see players handpassing off both hands and kicking from both feet which should be a given at senior level

Any new names called into the senior setup on the back of the club championship?

The streaming will have teething issues and it's a new world for the commentators but think they are improving week on week so need to cut them some slack. It's great to be able to watch the games.

On the Portlaoise game, I thought Dillon was brilliant and hope he answers the phone call that will come from Quirke. Looks like it's the end of the road for the Portlaoise dominance. Bruno is a huge loss and they dont have the calibre of player coming through to match the teams of previous years. In saying that it's up to Port and the other teams to finally step up.

Ports corner backs were very good, Byrne and David Murphy were inspirational at times when needed. Port were missing some key players but be hard to drop that young Murphy lad the next day, good problem for their manager! Port will learn a lot from yesterday, they managed the Portlaoise black card very badly but first win over Portlaoise in 19 years should give them the confidence going forward

Apologies off topic but saw a good question of picking the best county team but you can only have 1 representative from each club. Anyone want to give it a go?

What Portlaoise lads have committed to Laois? We badly need to add pace and power into the team

Anyone stand out? Quirke play a kicking game or what tactics did he employ? I know pitches are in shit so hard to read too much into it

Is Bruno the most decorated club player ever in Laois? He'll be a huge loss to the Town, owes them nothing, great player

Quirke is friendly with Sugrue and spoke with him before taking the job. If Sugrues departure ended on a sour note dont you think he would have said it to Quirke?
