I wear the orthodics in all my footwear. Bar my slippers i have on at the minute  8)

I suffer from blisters on arch of foot too. always on the left one more for some reason. But when i run without the orthodics in my runners or boots, i get sore all over, ankles, calves, achilles. so im dammed if i do.. I take the blister option as its lesser of two evils. Compeed blister plasters are my saviour.

Two things.
Physio recently told me nobody should be wearing orthotics long term as the muscles in your feet etc begin to depend on  them and hamstring, calf etc injuries follow. Your body is all linked and if one part isnt doing its part another part is overloaded. Recently reading about barefoot training and the benefits of this for stability and mobility.

Point 2 is a bit more obscure. If u have a blister that burst but skin still attached and have very tender skin underneath then get some superglue and stick the skin flap back to your foot. Did it recently with a v sore blister and worked a treat.

Can we not play Paddy Purcell in a Tadgh De Burca type role? He is excellent on the ball, great in the air and can carry the ball through tackles. Surely that would reduce the number of goal chances. Perhaps when Whelan is back we can try this. It worked v Westmeath in relegation game last year very well.

How does it work with hurling and football? If a player plays in a competition and then transfers he is allowed finish out the competitions he started before the transfer. What if he played 1st round league and cship football with a club and then transferred. Could he play hurling league and championship with new club while also finishing league and cship football with previous club. Not sure who this would apply to but just curious if there is any rule against it?

He can play league and championship for two different clubs at the same time, as was the case with Ballyea forward Niall Deasy who played a Munster final one week in 2016 and a Dublin league final the following for his other club. He transferred to Dublin, and then back before playing championship, but had played league and was eligible to continue playing in that competition.

The answer is no, if you play championship of any description in either code you cannot play with a second club in championship that year.   However should you play league or cup competition with another club you can play championship in the same year as they are not seen as been the same competition. Thus you can play league or Kelly cup in Laois and then go on and transfer and play championship hurling or football in another county.  However if you go and play championship junior c hurling in April you cannot play any level of championship Hurling or Football with another team in that year.  I am 100% of this rule in Ireland and UK

You have explained that well in fairness.
However this means that under GAA rules senior hurling c'ship in Cork is the same competition as junior b football championship in Fermanagh when the 2 are in no way linked. The teams could never play each other.
In other games such as soccer or rugby you can be cup tied by playing in a competition with a club before joining a different club who compete in the same competition.
This makes sense as a player playing in the same competition for two clubs would skew results and therefore be unfair.
What is the GAA rationale for pretending  these competitions are linked in some way? Is it merely to keep players tied to one club for football and hurling.
If that is the case why can players play hurling and football for different clubs within a county?

On a related point, if you can only play c'ship in one county in one year then how can UCC and CIT students play Cork c'ship and c'ship in their home county in the same year?
What rule governs this?

GAA realy has some fascinatingly complicated rules.

I knew about Deasy but that doesnt really answer my question. If a player plays football league and cship in home county in April/May and then transfers to a hurling club in different county in june can he play league and cship hurling in new county and finish out football league and cship in previous club in home county?

There can be a debate about clubs amalgamating etc but the key point that I keep going back to is the lack of planning for the future at Co level. As I've said on so many occasions a plan for laois hurling must be devised structurally, financially supported and followed through by a full time director of hurling and a team working under him. I believe it's a travesty that the one man that had the vision and the passion to make it happen is no longer involved at any County level.

Agree with every word

I used to think certain amalgamations like Ballyfin and Mountmellick at juvenile level etc were a bit unseemly as they are in different parishes. Well 2017 is proving that same parish, neighbouring clubs etc means nothing when it comes to joining up. The county board loosened rules to allow players access to higher level. Its a good idea but needs regulation. TG4 used to have a Western season on saturday nights well Laois GAA are running their own cowboys and indians season for 2017. A pure farce.

Agreed but how can we improve our attitudes? How can we create an atmosphere of improving ourselves instead of comparing ourselves to other counties? People have said nobody wanted to manage our county minors this year. Why? Surely if they are not our strongest group they need more and better help than other years. That would worry me. Apart from a small number of coaches the rest are acting out of self interest rather than Laois' best interest.

Cant claim I was at the game but having watched Laois teams for long enough I often wonder is it actual strength we are missing or intensity. Yes we often enter games with players of smaller stature than other counties but rarely do we see those players play with fire or intensity to redress the balance. We often see teams almost accept their fate. They are told Dublin are stronger and fitter so almost accept it before they take the field. Where is the defiance? The belief that we can mix it? The attitude of asking questions of the opposition no matter who they are. Our biggest issue was always mentality and it continues on and off the field.

SH A Dublin South 3-23 Laois 0-7.
Really worrying result today. Are all Laois schools involved in this team? Are the underage structures working and functional or are we really falling behind? We think we cant promote hurling in emo, mountmellick, stradbally etc etc but here are a group of well resourced, well prepared south dubs given our hurlers from traditional areas an absolute lesson. Very worrying.

I don't mean any offence to schools but none of them would strike you as hurling strongholds. It's not that awfully long ago that the cbs played Leinster A hurling for a brief time and were generally a strong team in Leinster B. Is there any push on to get them back into higher grades within the school?
