A player who has taken his game to another level in the last couple of years is McManus from Monaghan.  Big transformation in his body shape too.

Syferus, when i mentioned the word bulk I didn't mean the beefcake kind.  I think players sometimes need to earn the right to get playing their football especially when they're being double or treble marked.  Jamie struggled a bit in the last couple of games and one line of thought could be that a lack of physical strength (the fella seems to have a very light frame) means he gets closed off too quickly.  He didn't get on the ball much against Donegal and that would be a concern for the future in my view. At the very top level and latter part of the championship forwards aren't going to get lovely flighted ball into their chest in loads of space - they have to scrap for it.  I don't think Jamie is fit to scrap for it at present. Just an opinion.

Sure Gooch looks like he could line-out at minor still. As long as Clarke is fit enough to last a match there isn't huge benefits for him to bulk up for and some obvious negatives too. I'd be more worried about him being rusty in May than being physically unfit.

Gooch? Only a two trick pony ffs.

But the question is can ponies play pianos?

Very profound.

Can't see the Eto'o thing at all. An old guy on big wages for the short term? Not exactly strategic planning.

Would be a short-term fix and smack of desperation.  Okay if we have a few striking options and he's there in case of injuries etc.  but otherwise not an option.  We only have Sturridge and Lambert really (presuming Borini leaves) so it's looking light up front.  Would worry about Sturridge getting injured.

What happens when the bouncers stop you getting into the room to play the piano!

Seems the bohemian free spirit type.  Takes a lot of dosh to support a bit of travelling over 6-9 months, and can't really see him working in a field picking raspberries to finance it.

There was a bit of talk a few years back about him needing to do gym work to build up his physique. One of the McEntees reckoned he would need to do that eventually, to continue his progress. Given the way he struggled to get into the two games in Croke Park this year, i think he needs to bulk up a bit.

This annual saga of Jamie's travels is getting a bit tiresome.

Might be a case of getting greedy now but would still love to see Liverpool sign a top striker. Any murmurings on this?  I'm hopeful whether that happens or not, there will still be plenty of goals from midfield, possibly more than last year, to make up for Saurez.  If the defence gets a bit meaner too that will obviously close the gap left by Saurez.

He does it time and again - nothing new here.  Years ago he had a thing about Micky Moran, then more recently Sean Cavanagh and Paul Grimley.  He continually belittles and mocks but hey we're all supposed to be thick skinned about these things.

I thought Armagh were brilliant today.

Unfortunately they're a bit of a Wexford '08 and they'll flounder in division 3 next year.

Hope that's as accurate as the rest of your predictions Nostradamus.

Jaysus, we made hard work of that, and could have had no complaints if Armagh had snatched the draw at the end due to an idiotic move by McBrearty. Utterly dominant for 25 minutes of the second half, we nearly kicked it away through awful shooting (and shot selection). That said, we were rather fortunate in the first half when a goal against the run of play, and the move of Murphy into full forward, completely changed the game. Armagh, likewise, missed some good chances when they were on top then, and indeed, over the whole game, seemed to find it easier to get scores from play. We've a lot of work to do for the next day. That performance, at least shooting-wise, will no trouble Dublin much. MCFadden in particular needs to find some form, while McBrearty needs to settle down with the hollywood attempts.

Some of the players, on both sides, let themselves down today with their behaviour, but I suppose there was always going to be some aggro when neither side wanted to be seen not standing up to the other (Eamon McGee spoiled an otherwise excellent performance with a cheap shot on a youing Armagh forward at the end. Armagh no.10 didn't cover himself in glory either).

Good post. Couldn't disagree with any of that.

Disappointing to lose the game by a point.  But a lot to take away from this for next year. There's a lot of stuff to admire in that team.  But the old flaws that have been there came back to bite - poor enough shooting at times and the goalie's kickouts. If we can do something about the kickouts we will move to the next level and be genuine contenders imo.
