As a Kerryman, the only person I could make a strong case for an All Star team at the moment would be Marc O'Se.  Cooper has played very little ball, came on v Derry in NFL final , game v Clare where he was quietish and game v Cork where he got little ball.Donaghy still has potential to do damage but is suffering because high ball tactics have become extremely lazy , when the tactic started in 06 he was given crisp diagonal balls that he could attack , now all it is is high bombs from midfield which are fairly easy for the full back to punch out . Thats the Kerry rant over! Still feel we're capable of beating all teams left in qualifiers  8)

Top player at the minute would be a tight call between Marty McGrath and Shane Ryan

Picking a team is not easy by any means

Cluxton

Diarmuid Duggan (Cork)
Marc O'Se
John Keane

Philip Jordan
Damian Healy ( Westmeath)
Barry Cahill

Marty McGrath
Shane Ryan

Diarmuid Connolly
Padraig Joyce
Mark Little

Alan Brogan
Ronan Clarke
Benny Coulter

No he hasn't, hoping he will be though , a fantastic player had a brilliant game v Crossmaglen. Great distributor of a ball used it very sensibly when he had it.

Whats the Derry team going to be?

By no mean a foregone conclusion , Kerry are now missing Galvin, Declan O'Sullivan and Cooper so the starting fwd line will probably look like

Sean Sullivan Brosnan David Moran

Kieran O'Leary Donaghy Sheehan

Still strong enough although Declan O'Sullivan is in fantastic form and will be a big loss for the rest of the league.

Griffin and Scanlon midfield with the starting AI final back line and Kerry need the win if they are to qualify for league final . Kerry should win it , they havent been beaten at home in the league for a while now

Watch out for Micheal O'Shea ( St Vincents) - the new Dara O'Se!

Frank Murphy and his level of power is the essential problem in this whole argument, it boils down entirely to him, anything else the players say is just
skirting around the issue and taking a swipe at him without mentioning him directly. His level of power, I feel, is excessive, what he says goes in Cork and he is surrounded by a bunch of yes men who have got to where they are by being yes men to him. Cork County Board borders on a dictatorship in my view. Ye may dismiss that as far fetched and ridiculous , but anyone who knows the inner machinations of the Cork County Board will know what I am talking about. Come out from behind the Iron Curtain Cork!

GAA Discussion / Breakdown of Grant
December 19, 2007, 12:49:32 PM
Lads,

What is the exact breakdown of the GPA grant?

Cheers for advice Brick Tamlin and hmmm, I have tried plyometrics and find them very good but its a very short term effect I find, once you stop doing it you seem to regress into your normal speed, might give the weights prog as suggested by hmm, have been always been slightly wary of weights just thinking that putting too much muscle on will slow the person down even more, some of the older Armagh footballers were a case in point I think on this

Thanks anyway,

Would love to do a weights programme to build up speed off the mark and only that. I'm 27 and I think I've done way too much bad training in my late teens early twenties- laps of the field, slogging in bad weather kind of endurance stuff. Have massive legs now a la Brian Dooher, Dara O'Cinneide but find I cant change pace much. Could jog around a field all day not a bother but find I get very tired doing a bit of a sprinting and even get cramps from sprinting even if very fit! Could beat most guys in a sprint but would only overtake them after about 50,60m

Any suggestions for a programme, fitness experts out there? Football season nearly at a close for me. GPA might sort me out with some dumbbells! The players come first!

Yep Laune Rangers beat Eire Og of Carlow in 96 he was on that team, won a schools All Ireland the same year they beat Pats Maghera in the final. Won a minor as a sub in 94 , beat Galway in final. Won under 21 in 97 v Cavan and may have won another in 98 not certain about that tho, lost to Westmeath in 99 in u21 final but I think he was overage.

Found it strange that Mike Frank was never introduced the last day and wasnt even warming up at any stage. Feel sorry for him, he's been unlucky to be dropped for a few high profile games over the last couple of years. Wouldn't have dropped him for the last days game but as it turned out Sheehan did well, would hope he will get a run in the final.

Kerry team looks like it could be:

Murphy

O'Mahony
O'Sullivan
M O'Se

T O'Se
Griffin
Young

Scanlon
D O'Se

Galvin
Brosnan
D O'Sullivan

Cooper
Donaghy
Sheehan

Would rather if Griffin was midfield and someone like Mossy Lyons came in wing back with Killian Young going to the corner. management made a blunder in not giving Guiney a run during league and him leaving as a result. Very good player he was unlucky there were so many good backs around duringh Jacks regime. Ditto Mossy Lyons and Fitzmaurice. Sheehan is a fantastic kicker, sweetest striker of a placed ball I've seen in a while and extremely skilful, but I still wonder if he's short a yard of pace for inter county, especially at corner forward against someone like David Henry.

Anyway, Ciarrai Abu!

If Derry beating Mayo was a wet dream what was Kerry annihilating them in 04 and 06 ? ;D
