I was working abroad for all the league so saw no football.  But are you telling me that the high catch isn't one of the main skills of Gaelic? Also, the point was that Mickey Harte opposed to this because it doesn't suit Tyrone's swarm tactics. Mickey Harte is against the Compromise Rules, thats his opinion but he was against the mark for self preservation which was disappointing to see.

That's also why Mickey Harte fought tooth and nail to get the mark scrapped.

So true, I'm a big fan of Mickey Harte but the "mark" was an initiative to help on of the great skills of Gaelic Football. Any true football man would encourage this but his opposition was pure self interest, with some lame, vague excuse that it would slow the game down.

I would love to see John Galvin get one, he was great against Cork and absolutely heroic against Kerry but I fear a lot more football will have been played by the time these awards are handed out and Galvin's efforts might lose out. Certainty for a nomination as is Paddy Keenan.

I'd say Monaghan will go after Kernan

McConnell, McVeigh or Cluxton for keeper. I know it's maybe a reach with Cluxton after conceeding 5 goals in one game but his kickouts are just so good and if these 50's keep going over you never know. The Roscommon keeper had a good game on Sunday but not as good as the commentators let on also he had no real opportunity to shine in the Connacht Championship. I don't think it's been a vintage year for backs but there will be very deserving midfieldersand forwards who will not even get a nomination such is the competition for places. Meath will be the big losers as the panel will use this as a chance to give the Royals (rightly or wrongly)  a slap on the wrist for not offering a replay. Kerry might also struggle to get any. Gooch is probably their best hope but with Shine and Brogan to accommodate he might get shoved out in favour of a Coulter or Kavanagh. I also think Cork's indifferent form and constantly changing line up could leave them with few enough unless they win it. McConnell and Jordan are Tyrones best chance.

Tell an Irish person they can't do something and they will start planning how to do it!!!

I think it's a combination of the 6 day thing, but don't forget that Limerick and Louth were also beaten with more of a break than 6 days. The other factor is that they are playing teams who have at least two or possibly three wins on the trot and have all the momentum with them. In my opinion the answer is to allow the Provincial Losers to choose the venue for the next game. This year it would have had Louth v Dublin in Navan (I don't think there's an adequate ground in Louth) Monaghan v Kildare in Clones, Sligo v Down in Sligo and Limerick v Cork in Limerick. Limerick did have home advantage by virtue of a coin toss and maybe its no surprise that they ran Cork the closest even though Cork were on paper the best team on their side of the draw.

Has anyone else noticed the Centra advert on TV where your man is fixing his tie in front of the mirror?

He is going to a Rugby Team reunion and then the advert finishes with Centra as proud sponsors of the GAA football championship!!

I was in a Centra shop around June and they had a wallet size laminate with all the Hurling fixtures for the 2010 championship. Good idea only that they had "Monahan" playing in Ulster!!!

We were called into a room and told. And then we did what we were told so we could keep our jobs. A proud day for us all!

If that is the case it was a damned shameful disgrace but why is this the first time I've heard of it?

Usually stuff like this leaks out very quickly. >:(
Fear my friend, fear. That and absolutely no proof!

There's no doubt that there is a bias against GAA in BBC NI Sports coverage. When Cormac McAnallen died word came down from on high that under no circumstances was it to be the lead story  on the main news.

Is there any foundation to this allegation?

Yeah, they put a full page ad in the Belfast Telegraph under the heading "Don't mention the dead Taig". Also there was a picture of the Head of the BBC twiddling his moustache while stroking a white cat. Catch yourselves on lads!!!

Tyrone would want to be careful. There is no doubt that they are the better team but they haven't really performed as favourites in Croke Park recently. They fell over the line against Kildare last year before losing to a fairly average Cork team (although the ref was very poor). They are coming up against a Dublin team who for a change don't have the weight of expectation on them. Also the cats out of the bag for Tyrone after the Ulster Final performance so there's no point Mickey Harte playing the poor mouth. I know this poll is only a bit of crack but I think it does reflect the Tyrone fans expectation.
