There is no part of Ireland that should be pronouncing caoimhin as cweeva. Dubs do it all the time.

Conal should never be koenal. Conan should never be koenan as koenan the barbarian

Sorry caoimhe not caoimhin

Always thought Caoimhe pronounced phonetically as Queeva to be honest. How does the rest of the country pronounce it?

Personally think nowadays it is nearly mandatory to have a qualification or a trade. Be it teacher, accountant, plumber , electrician whatever.
Everything nowadays needs to be "signed off" and this is where qualifications are vital.

Loved the Cuffe ball back in the day

Wasn't the prize in the  fake contest in Sea of Love a meeting with famous baseball players?

A long time since I seen it so could be wrong. Pacino character took pity on one of the "winners" who brought his kid along.

Sing Street

enjoyable

Saw it there at the weekend. Wasn't impressed by it at all.

Watched Where Eagles Dare again there recently. Still cannot work out all the doublecrossing etc and why the Germans were hellbent on running into Clint Eastwood's gunfire. Excellent stuff all the same.

Kellys Heroes and its remake Three Kings rewatched again. Brilliant stuff altogether.

May in the long term be a good thing for democracy around the world. The working and struggling classes have by and large spoken in the Uk and now America.

Governments will now have to pay more attention to that section of the population very often disregarded and sad to say very often sneered at ( including some posters on this forum). Absolutely nothing wrong with people who left school early to earn a living/ work a trade etc  having a say in democracy .

Victory yesterday for the people who like their coffee to come from a kettle / coffee pot as opposed to coming  frothy from a machine.

I had that thought too. I think this is a reality check. The silent majority is still the majority and you have to cater for their concerns, not just the popular causes, to win big elections.

But what has Trump promised them?

Are trade wars going to reverse decades of mechanization and industrial flight in search of lower costs and thus cheaper prices?

Are all these put-upon white people going to start to do the landscaping, roofing, asbestos abatement, hotel room cleaning and food delivery jobs that Hispanic immigrants are now doing?

How are poorer whites going to fare now when Paul Ryan budgets, slashing benefits, medical coverage and programmes, left, right and centre, in favour of tax cuts for the rich, suddenly start passing congress and the White House?

My post wasn't endorsing Trump, just saying that I think Democracy is perversely all the better after this election as it will compel governments everywhere to pay heed to a portion of the population very often disregarded. Imo of course.

Congrats to them . Wrigley Field one of the 3 baseball grounds I have been to.

Fierce dull game to watch live, much better on the tv. TV doesn't reflect how fast the pitchers throw the ball.

Congrats to all winners.

Could quibble about the odd selection here and there but by and large all winners deserving.

Thought Cian O'Sullivan would have got one but his one high profile clanger against Donegal probably cost him. Same with Cluxton and the Kerry game. By no means a travesty though that they missed out imo.

POTY a toss up imo between Fenton and Keegan and either one would deserve it with the other very unlucky.

Sergie Leone movies as well.

Tyrone / Re: Tyrone Club Football and Hurling
October 10, 2016, 09:58:29 AM
Saw some of first half and nearly all of second of this game on the telly. Have to say it was an excellent game to watch. Very good standard of play.

Seems to be some amount of Tyrone clubs with sky blue jerseys. Remember reading that in a programme when up in Omagh for a league game back in the day.

Personally think Keegan will get poty myself. He or Fenton . Either one deserving imo.

Fwiw thought McClean was man of the match.

An ordeal to watch Ireland play and fair dues to the fans who show up regularly to do so. Not pleasing on the eye.

Evan Comerford must be in with a shout for goalkeeper. Clarke can't get it now, and Cluxton had a couple of dodgy moments.

Still think Clarke will get the nod but any of the 3 you have mentioned well deserving of an allstar.

After the 2014 allstar goalkeeping award, you cannot really rule anyone definitely in or out.

Some change in recent years when a keeper is judged as much on his kickouts as his goalstopping ability.
