I think we should take a leaf out of the Italians book and pelt this team with rotten tomatoes when they arrive home.  They have been a complete embarassment.  They were the most experienced, best prepared, most skillful team we have ever had, and they couldn't even get a bonus point against Georgia 'cos they were 'holding' back.  What a joke.  I feel sorry for people who spent a lot of money to go toFrance to watch this lot.

Yeah, must be a stinker for those who travelled. At the moment i'm going to settle down to a movie at home. Would hate the thought of having to wait on for the embarrassment of Argentina.

Best of luck to the Mayo ladies on Sunday!

Mayo could be split into north and South! Actually the Mayo team presently is North, so there would only have to be a formation of the south. ;D

Although you have to admit for a Professional game the FAI and IFA are fairly decent with their prices.

Sorry i cant agree with that. They charge silly money, especially for challenge matches that are usually against a disinterested opposition.
Do the FAI pay the players to play for Ireland? ... I wouldnt have thought so.
I think Championship matches are well priced, they could possibly issue more family tickets but as someone without kids i don't know how difficult these are to get.

Mind you the DCB are charing 13 euro for club double headers which is a bit on the pricey side imo.

Yeah, the FAI pay the players to play for Ireland!

Gnevin, glad you did not go down the route of comparing prices to Soccer cup finals, as it is like comparing Apples and Oranges. Gaelic will always be a Bigger event in this country and thus you can ask for a bit more. Although you have to admit for a Professional game the FAI and IFA are fairly decent with their prices.

I guess this is why you were on the non-gaa section asking about prices for LOI & IL games?
There goes that argument regarding the price of those games. I see you want to know the price of the finals now ::)

Came across ticket prices for LOI and IL cup final games and posted them on the non-gaa section.

Mourinho in line for massive pay-off
Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:44
Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is set to land a massive £25million pay-off after leaving Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese coach departed the club by mutual consent on Thursday and said an emotional goodbye to the players at the club's Cobham training ground in Surrey.

Chelsea moved swiftly to replace Mourinho with director of football Avram Grant, who will take charge of team affairs on a permanent basis along with assistant Steve Clarke.

Clarke, who was also number two to Mourinho, will remain at the club but the Portuguese coach's backroom staff of Baltemar Brito and Rui Faria, head opposition scout Andre Villas and goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro, have also departed.

Now lawyers are in detailed negotiations about a severance package for Mourinho, who still had another three years left on his £5.2million-a-year deal.

It is understood the financial package will include confidentiality clauses that prevent Mourinho from divulging any club secrets.

Last March, Mourinho taunted the club by saying he would walk away from the club as a 'millionaire' if Chelsea wanted to get rid of him.

In the build-up to their home game with Porto in the Champions League, the former Chelsea chief also boasted that he would not be out of work for long.

Mourinho is now being tipped to take over the Portuguese national side, but in the meantime Chelsea's players continued their preparations for Sunday's game against Manchester United in the Premier League.

Mourinho's emotional farewell at Cobham is understood to have left striker Didier Drogba in tears.

Drogba, whose goals won Chelsea the Carling and FA Cups last season, had a close relationship with Mourinho.

The Ivorian scored 33 goals last season and, after striking a late winner against Manchester United to win the FA Cup at Wembley, he sprinted off the pitch to thank the Chelsea coach for making him one of the best strikers in the world.

Grant has a hard act to follow as Mourinho won everything in English football in his three years in charge.

But while the reaction to Mourinho's departure and Grant's elevation has been mixed, the club provided the Israeli and Clarke with their full backing.

A club statement read: 'Chelsea can confirm that Avram Grant and Steve Clarke will be in charge of the first team from today (Thursday).

'The club is delighted that in Avram we have an experienced man who can come in immediately at this difficult time to help deliver our objectives.

'In Steve we have a Chelsea man and he will be a crucial part of the management team going forward. Avram and Steve have our full confidence and support.'

Have to agree with Lynchboy that the GAA have been content with upping the price and balancing it out against the fans lost. The cheapest trick ( or should that be the dearest trick) this year was double heading semi-finals with quarterfinals and charging semifinal prices, often not offering the same code in the double header. Look the value for early round games is pretty good at €20. It's just the cost when it gets to the business end of the championship.

Gnevin, I still cannot see where you are getting the 4 hours of intertainment from. A game lasts max one and a half hours. Very few people go to the two matches anymore. Matchday in Croke Park with a double header often proves this. Anyway this is away from the main points.

You cannot be charging PROFESSIONAL prices to see AMATEUR players. Professional prices create an unfair expectation of their performance and skill, as they cannot give the full time that a professional can to tuning their skills and fitness.

The GAA is an Amateur organisation and for the community and Family. Once you abuse this through high ticket prices you run a risk of losing the foundation of the organisation.

Gnevin, it's as much the principal as anything else. It's about respect. Most people care more about not being conned than the money. Look most people will not miss the €10 as you say, but if you multiply that by 4 (in a family) and again by 3  (matches)you could be out by €120. Not a fortune, but enough! Gnevin, you are lucky to be living in Dublin which curtails other costs and leaves you with just the cost of your ticket in the main.
Why would you multiply it by 3 ?
You where asked to play an extra 10er so 40 in total and for that you got a other game if you had of been interested .
Bunker pretend i'm giving you 80 euro , please tell me how you will entertain the 2 young ones and the missuses for 4 hours on that.

We've all seen how interested people have become in the extra game over the years, feck all give a damn, so spare me the 4 hours of entertainment, more like 1 and a Half of great entertainment (90% of the time)! Once again the money issue is in principal.
You've get into Croke at 3.15 to 3.00 for a 4 match leave at 6 . You've the prematch build up and the post match all part of the match day experience easly 4 hours . You still haven't spent my 80 euro!

God, Gnevin your stretching your €80 worth, prematch, postmatch, you forgot the interval enterainment and gong for a piss at half time. Look Lynchboy gave a decent example. This is not really about getting examples it about respect and putting unwanted pressure on families and a professional demand on amateur players!

The GAA is an amateur organistaion. This ethos has alway sold the ethics that the players should not be payed for playing and in turn the fan does not have to bear the blunt at the gate of the professional game. The Amateur ethos was sold as "Being of the people" and was part of the voluntary succcess that is so important at ground level in the GAA. This has been all ok in the past, but the emergence of Media, corporate and professional interests have left two very important units of the Association more abused as time goes on, the fan and the player. Both are being heavily exploited. The Fan is paying more and more to see amateur players and the players are being treated more and more like professionals in their duties to play more games, to deal with the media and to sacrafice their day to day paying job.

This clearly cannot continue. Already people have been voting with their feet as venues around the country noticed a down turn in attendances. Players are retiring younger and most players do not want to go beyond club football as they know the unpaid commitment.
From the bunker how much does your internet cost a year?
How much does fuel in your car cost ?

The Biggest sporting event in Ireland only cost 70 Euro for 2 games . The FAI charge this for a crappy friendly, will you cheap c***ts stop f**king moaning .

Yes but the FAI are paying professional players to ply their services. There is no unreal expectation being put on the player. €70 for AI is acceptable enough. But there were many cases where people were asked to fork out €45 for quarterfinals this year.
Yes and the GAA are funding your club house and your astro pitch and schools competitions .
What does cost of tickets have to do with expectations on players? If the GAA didnt charge anything i'd still expect Dublin to win sam. I've expected it for 13 years nothing will ever change that .

Any time my county does well in the AI series there is a definite fall in the christmas spending that year, this is curtailed only by the feel factor if the county is successful. Yes there is an expectation an players, but when you charge PROFESSIONAL prices to see AMATEUR players, people psychologically expect PROFESSIONAL skill and fitness.
