Crazy stuff there with the Spainish cyclist breaking the chain on the bike just as he was going down the starting ramp.

Rafael Benítez will be at Dublin's Bord Gais Energy Theatre for one night only for an intimate evening this September 13th.For this very special event the audience will gain an exclusive insight in to the mind of one of Europe's most successful and celebrated football managers. Rafa will share memories from his early career at Real Madrid, his winning times at Valencia and his fateful beginnings at Liverpool Football Club. Discover what really happened at half time in Istanbul in 2005 and his subsequent years at LFC. Listen as he talks about his latest book: "Champions League Dreams" and explains how he took Liverpool to their historic fifth European championship.

"Champions League Dreams" is a stimulating and deeply insightful football narrative by Rafa Benítez which focuses on the legendary manager's dramatic six Champions League campaigns with Liverpool.

Rafa expertly navigates fans through intriguing European adventures that embrace the triumph and despair of two Champions League finals, three semi- finals and five quarter-finals in what was a golden era for the Anfield club - an era that supporters felt gave them their pride back after years in the wilderness. What sets "Champions League Dreams" apart is the unique ways in which Rafa allows fans into his high-pressured world, the fascinating glimpses he offers of a top manager's thought processes and decision making during the cut and thrust of a high-octane European campaign.

It's the wife's birthday that night, hope she doesn't mind spending it with Rafa.

Went into 3 different pubs in Dublin city yesterday to catch the 2nd half of Kilkenny Limerick hurling.
First two had Olympic Basketball on all their screens and the 3rd had the hurling on a small old TV in the corner but had Olympics on the two huge Plasma screens.
Is there no interest for hurling in our capital?

You should've gone to the Palace in Fleet St. Nothing else on in there...great pub.

Aye shocking stuff altogether!!!!!!

That's another thing I hate;' GAA men' who would rather watch soccer of indeed the rugby over football or hurling. Take for example last year Dublin were against Donegal in the semis; I think Man Utd it was were playing a match and a few of us lads were watching the Donegal match on one of the three screens in my local. The other 2 had the soccer; which is quite normal for that bar. But slap bang in the middle of the utd supporters were the committee of the university GAA football team, including 2 donegal men. I seriously have no time for people like that; they are up there with the people I really despise the most

1.Soccer GAA wannabes
2.Bankers
3.Right-Wingers
4. Dishonesty.......

I could be here for a while................. need to take a shower!

A lot of "Down fans" stayed at home to watch Man Utd in the champions league final last year when their county was playing Armagh in the 1st rd of the championship...not so much that it "grinds my gears"..it "sickens my hole"...same cnuts will be first in the queue for tickets if we progress this year.

Derry v Donegal 2002, the match started during the Irish v Spain game. Mind it rightly me my da and my uncle left the bar and headed up the hill to Clones wile all the cnuts of the day stayed and watched it. Place was empty when game started.........if I had my way the gates to the ground would of been closed and they would been locked out.

Christ you're a great fella they should honour you as the greatest gael that has ever lived...  ::)
You are a far greater Irish man than any of those soccerball guys.

btw Ireland v Spain in the last 16 of the World Cup or a pulling and dragging Ulster football game....
Only one winner for me.

Its brilliant watching lineker and thorpe - lineker keeps trying to have the craic and be a smartarse, and thorpe clearly just thinks hes a p***k  ;D

Is Thorpe Gay?

Seems like a nice boy, right enough.

Gold in the swimming for GB Lithuania

I thought those were Carlow flags in the crowd..

Reports surfacing that Carroll is gone on loan to West Ham for £2 million with a view to a £17 million transfer if West Ham stay in Premier League.

Not official or confirmed but if true I find it strange unless we have other players already lined up to come in.
I think he should at least be given a chance to fit the system.

I thought that Jimmy McGee was a total embarrassment last night, cringe worthy stuff! He was so biased that he made the british commentators sound impartial.

He reminds me of Peter Alliss who commentates on Golf for the BBC and like Alliss I think Jimmy should have retired long ago.

Strong rumours that Adam is on his bike anyway.
Fulham are favourites to get him. With Clint Dempsey going the other way I wonder?

Well I guess ye weren't on form after all.......

That's true, we weren't on form. Not at all. But it takes nothing away from Laois' victory. Obviously into the bargain with underestimating ye, ye played a smart game, and played to win. I can only say that I'd love to see Meath doing the same thing, so well done, and the best of luck to ye. The cynical fouling was somewhat irritating as the game wore on, but that's the way most teams choose to play these days (and indeed, always have chosen to play).

Cynical fouling?
Meath men dropping to the ground like they were shot and rolling around like Ronaldo more like.
We've been considered a small weak team for a many a year it's about time we showed some fight.

Laoislad, in my opinion that is bull$hit.
If you have facts to back up where players were rolling around Ronaldo like then post the examples here.

Ye played well and deserved your win but dont ruin the good feelings between the supporters with sarcastic comments like above and inaccurate statements calling Meath players cheats like this one.

Meath players were unfairly tagged with a reputation in the 90s way beyond what was appropriate and these reputations start with people firing out accusations without foundation and not being challenged.

Btw, also concentrate symbolising Dublin instead of firing slurs at Meath players.

Post of the year!
Excellent stuff agorm you cheered me right up fair play to you.  :D
If yer Meath boys had have had half as much passion on Saturday they won have won handy.
Keep fighting the good fight though Banty agorm.
