Not sure what to make of yesterday - satisfied but concerned. Defensively we are all over the shop but offensively we are a real threat with all players available. Coutinho will have to play 10 or else he will find it difficult to fit in - appears to be trying to hard to find the perfect pass, ball or goal. If the front 3 can stay fit then we need to concentrate on sorting out the back line. IMHO Agger is good but needs to feel the trust of BR that he is the main man at the back and then find 1 from 3 to play alongside him. Personally I would go with Sakho but he needs games to adjust to the premiership and he is not getting them for various reasons. At full back - I don't know where to start as all permutations appear not up to the task. Flanno was doing great and could maybe fit in at RB but left back is a nightmare for the remainder of the season. Need to get someone in at the back who could cover CB/LB and another who can cover RB/CB but don't know where they are... Dawson is very slow and even spurs fans would tell you that. I think Vermaelen could do a job and play LB if possible also. Van Buyten is not getting on Bayern team and could do a job but we need men who can go straight in.

Sturridge looked very sharp yesterday and he and Suarez look lethal together. Did you hear Suarez say that it is very important that we finish in top 4 on SS1 yesterday in after match interview - hope owners take note !!!!

Agree on the Aspas point of view and I understand that Swansea are interested in him and were in the summer also - so maybe an outlet for him to leave especially with Michu out injured. Bottom line is that he is not the required standard at the minute and we cannot wait!!!. Sell him, Assaidi (to stoke) and get maybe 5M in total then go and get few decent 1st team players who can integrate almost immediately. Thought Coutinho has looked good in 2nd half v Chelski and again yesterday in a more central role where he seems to find space easier. On the wings he can get space but doesn't have the strength or blinding pace needed whereas in the middle he can see and deliver the killer pass easier. Reportedly we are looking at Salal from Basel, Bertrand from Chelsea and Ings from Burnley.  if the yanks are serious about moving this club forward and no better time than the present then we need to be looking at bigger and better players than those 3 but within reason - we cant offer CL at present but we couldn't when LS signed either. surely there are good quality players out there who see Liverpool as a great move (even if only on loan to secure WC squad status) - Tello, Coentrao, Llorente, Pastore......

Lets hope for a successful January spree....

Big game today but we are playing well and are in a good position for turn of the year and 2nd half of the season. Despite the fact we are not top we have the following teams all to come to Anfield in 2014 - arsenal, city, spurs, Chelsea, Everton, Newcastle so plenty of opportunity to make inroads on the teams around us. We have hope and if we get few men in next month then we can certainly finish in top 4.

Is Richie Donnelly not injured? Heard he done knee few months ago - has missed all UUJ games to date I believe and all tyrone trials.

Can't be picked on squad if not available through injury!

Squad looks light but should be ok for McKenna cup. Would have liked to have seen Shane O'Hagan, Padraig McNulty, Rory Brennan, ruari Loughran get a sustained run to see what they are made of....

The world will not end if Liverpool are not top or even top 4 next week. They have two of their hardest three or four away games coming, and there are no teams which would expect 6 or even 4 points from those. Liverpool will, at worst, still be just a couple of points off the top 4. Then it will be someone else's turn to have the tough away games, just like it was Arsenal before them.

worth a £5 on Liverpool running through the Christmas period unbeaten? Must be decent odds

£5 equates to £100 / £110 for the 3 league matches over christmas according to a boy at work who is never done giving his wages to the bookies. (you'd hardly even miss a fiver) :-)

I would say that is for all wins which would be possible but not likely - however I wouldn't rule it out. Your initial quote was to remain unbeaten and I would say the odds are dramatically lower than 20/1 on that.

Good year for you J, the shamrocks and pool both going great guns - hope they both keep it up well into the New year. It would be great if shamrocks win AI and pool still going strong come 17th march !!

Hard to fathom but we could be 4th before kick off v city. Everton, gooners and chelski can all pass us with a win and gooners/chelski have 2 chances. However, I remain positive and expect us to be in top 4 at 1st Jan evening and still be there at end of Jan when the table will have more clarity about it hopefully with maybe 1 / 2 teams fell away by that stage.

Any rumours on jan signings yet.....

Must be some craic in the highorlow household at the minute. God help us if Santa doesn't bring what was requested.

Plenty of 1 man teams doing well this last few years - messi, Ronaldo, RVP, shefflin, brogan, gooch to name a few.

NYC is a great city and has everything you could need. was there for short break few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. done the usual stuff - rockerfella, central park, times square, Madison square gardens, water taxi but best bit was getting off water taxi at battery park and walking up manhattan via, 9/11, little Italy, soho, Chinatown, past flatiron building, Madison square, past times sq to central park. Think it is about 5/6k but not sure - done it casually had a few beer along the route and followed Carmen stateside advice in chinatown regarding the handbags (crazy area) and overall it took about 5 hours but was great. This city is really buzzing again and I was surprised at how clean it was in comparison to previous few visits back 15+ years ago. Stayed in 44th west street which is fairly central and leaves it that you are within walking distance to most areas but I would say that the best way to view and sense any city is to walk it - don't see too much when underground. will be back for sure !!!

Fuzzman, think you are a wee bit unfair to both the 'pool and your beloved tyrone. There are a few decent players at Liverpool at the minute and the squad is only starting to gel together and lads like coutinho / Henderson could go on to become great pool players. Regarding tyrone, yea canavan was the main man in '95 but would you say brogan is a 1 man team for the dubs or gooch for Kerry. 1995 tyrone team were not the greatest but for a tyrone man to say they were a 1 man unit is a bit harsh - that is for other counties to say when the slagging is going on. your comparison for canavan / suarez is close however as both are small compact players with great skill and no little desire (there was/is a wee nasty streak in both)

Calm down calm down!! Why do you think I have the word MUST in capital letters regarding the Cardiff game - I have been a pool supporter too long to get carried away in last 25 years. I said in previous post that this game is a banana skin but if we got 3 pts then we could get 5 or 7 from next 3. After years of pessimism I now approach games with some optimism - is that a fault? I like the positivity at the minute and whilst I acknowledge we can't do much in December we appear to be heading the right direction but time will tell.

Top 4 will still require 2 pts per game however it is possible.

As it stands at the minute (and it is very hypothetical) the draw for the qtr finals would be as follows;

Ulster (1) v Leicester (8) - did meet in group
Sarries (2) v Toulouse (7) - did meet in group
Clermont (3) v Leinster (6)
Toulon (4) v Munster (5)

Lot of big teams still there and arguably the top 8 teams in the competition - no major teams missing out but you argue for Northampton.

Interested to hear on talksport that it was down to BR and AVB for spurs job - we got the good guy there for sure. He has done a decent job to date and at least we have a structure and style of play that is identifiable and players seem happy with. BR surprised a few with selection y'day myself included who thought he would go for 3/5/2. It shows he has got balls and was going for a win and not settling for 1 point. Players obviously believe in him as performance showed but we MUST beat the bluebirds/red dragons or whatever they are called now on Saturday!!!
Is it too much to ask for 7 pts from next 3 games - 5 would keep me more than happy but we will see.

Just watched the spurs game again - even better performance than on 1st viewing. No bad performances at all and should have been long gone by HT - created chances all over the shop but only converted 2. Our pace on counter attack is lethal (does Stevie G slow our play down...?) and first touch triangles in middle of the park were excellent. All 11 done very well and imperative that we do not slip up on Saturday

Henderson is looking the part, has an engine, strength and most important a willingness to cover ground both forwards and backwards.

Suarez is unreal - super player!!!!
