GAA Discussion / Re: More Thuggery on the GAA field
February 02, 2012, 09:40:12 AM
I was at the game, and i expected a heavy suspension especially after the Monday radio shows, although i think the pinishment is a little lop sided for each club.
I'ii not dwell on the players suspension, but how they could pick out only 4 subs for suspension and no mentors baffles me.
In all counties the further down the pile u r, u generally get a heaver suspension and so its the case here.
I think the token suspensions and fines that were handed out for the league final in Tyrone were far too light and its having a bearing on this case.
As in most cases an appeal will lift gain some lee-way and i feel that a player or too will get off, but due to the profile there shall be no major shift.
I was always of the opinion that Derrytresk would not be thrown out, regardless of how much Kery shouted, but that Croke Park would leave it extremely difficult for them to won the final

Crokes have really dug a might hole for themselves, and seem to be trying to crawl out of it by the hour.
IMO they have put their team under pressure before they even take the field.
Kerry folk have forgotten that there was another game in Portlaoise last Sun between a Kerry club and an Ulster club with no hassle in a hard sporting game, but then the Kerry lads won!!

While i do admire the professionalism of the content, is it not better to deliver this information to the Derry management and not deliver it on an open forum where it could be utilised by opposing management down the line.
I do appreciate that the authors are trying to break into a market and create a niche.

Dooher, an outstanding gael, footballer and man.
I heard of a storey when he was training to be a vet in 1996, he was out on a neighbours farm on a call attending a heifer having difficulty in calfing. The job was successful, the new calf however was a little weak on it with it tongue hanging out. The neighbour turned to Brian and said that's the the way you'll be when the Meath men get you on Sunday.
I heard that he is going to be busy next year.
All the best Brian

He seems to be stacks of craic!!!
Saw a glimpse of the Kerry team going down the tunnel after the game and he was along with them wearing a Diesel T shirt.
Very strange, although an exceptional talent

General discussion / Re: wind turbines
September 14, 2011, 08:50:55 AM
I noticed on last night's news in relation to the lady missing in Ballycastle that the Ballycastle club have a turbine.
Have many clubs wind turbines and if so what is the rate of return?

Grugan was playing, him and Brian Doyle had a real battle.
Armagh scored 3 goals in the first 20 mins against the wind, only scored 2 points with it.
The Derry players who are in the senior panel moved up to the mark in the 2nd half .

For training you can go down the basic route of erecting of used street lamps of around 10m and fixing a number of large domestic external lights on top.

I was heavily involved in erecting the lights in our club to 300 lux.
All the work was gone voluntarily.
For 8 colum's the can cost from circ £1,200 upwards depending on the spec
Foundations can take between 6 or 8 m2 of concrete -- a lorry load -- depending on the ground conditions for each light.
3 phase connection costs are subject to the nearest grid point but you could also consider a generator
Bulbs and their casing are in the region of £500 each

It's all Big McGilligan's fault.
Hayes has never recoverd from the time Brian put him into the dugout in '87

GAA Discussion / Re: Paddy Heaney of the irish news!

I stand to be corrected but i don't think he has yet made a positive comment about how the refurbished Celtic Park.
He always gave me the impression that he would be happier 'working' from a curtain-sider in Glen.
However to give him credit he does write some good articles, but today paper had too much about Derry. I dread to see his articles if when we beat Tyrone in a championship game.
