Just seen on the hoganstand that the championship final is on saturday 27th and will be played underlights. This is due to fermanagh ladies getting to the intermediate final. Congrats to them.

Surprised this hasn't been posted already...

QuoteMcCausland slams H-Block event

Sports Minister Nelson McCausland has criticised the staging of a hunger strike commemoration at a GAA ground.

It took place at Galbally, County Tyrone, after a procession on Sunday.

Speaking as a DUP MLA, he said: "It cannot be right that a sports ground should be used for commemorating and celebrating something as offensive as the whole H-Block episode."

Sinn Fein MLA Barry McElduff said there were no alternative venues for the rural, largely republican community.

"We were remembering, not terrorists but inspirational, politically-motivated Irish hunger strikers," said Mr McElduff, who was speaking in a party capacity rather than as chairman of the assembly's culture, arts and leisure committee.

"Many young people are curious to know the story of these hunger strikers who laid down their lives for Irish freedom."

However, Mr McCausland said the event was a breach of the GAA's rule 7a, which states the organisation should be non-party political.

"People will be disappointed to see a sports ground used for such a political event which glorifies Irish republican terrorism," he said.

He added: "The event in Tyrone was a retrograde step and I think it has reinforced division and political sectarianism."

Breach of the GAA's rule 7a carries a penalty of up to 24 weeks' suspension.

A GAA spokesperson said they had no comment to make on the matter.

The parade was staged near the home of IRA hunger striker Martin Hurson, who died in the Maze Prison in July 1981.

It's a shame yet again that some people have felt it appropriate to use a GAA ground for such activities. And all it does is give the DUP another stick to beat the Association with.

Im just glad to see that Mr McCausland is reading the rules!!

Anybody know what the story will be with regards subscriptions?? I have sky and subscribe to setanta, purely for the gaa (im in england). But i believe that there is a 2 month cancellation period.
Setanta going into administration wont immediately close them down.

Im just going to answer my own question. I seen this on moneysavingexpert.com

"Setanta Sports has confirmed it is desperately seeking to restructure its finances to prevent it collapsing.

The Irish broadcaster, which broke into the mainstream UK market in 2007 when it began screening live Premiership football, is reported to have failed to pay money owed to the English and Scottish football authorities.

A spokeswoman today told MSE the company was discussing a possible refinancing package but said no further comment could be made. A full statement is expected during the next 48 hours.

Protect your payments

Subscribers who have payments automatically taken by credit or debit card should immediately call the broadcaster and switch to direct debit payments if they still want the service.

This is to ensure they are not left out of pocket if the firm collapses.

No cancellation rights

If payments are taken by card, known as recurring payments, you have no right to cancel the payment with the card company, meaning you're relying on the firm, such as Setanta, to stop taking payments.

Martin Lewis, MoneySavingExpert.com creator, says: "Recurring payments are a hideous nightmare. The outrageous fact you cannot cancel them should be banned. They're never more dodgy than when a company is on the brink.

"Customers' inability to cancel means you're totally reliant on the company and its customer service. In crisis times, if administrators take over, your chances of getting through drop, meaning you could risk having the cash dripping out of your account for months."

Direct Debit is best

Yet pay by direct debit from your bank account, and you can simply cancel the instruction when necessary, so no money's taken.

The same principle applies to any regular payment you have with a firm in trouble as it's generally safer to pay by direct debit anyway"

I went to see metallica a few weeks ago in sheffield. Have to say, it was the best that i have seen them yet (seen them bout 7 times now). They were fantastic. They played a load of stuff of the new album which is brilliant.
The stage was in the middle of the arena, so it meant you got a great view throughout, Lars's drums kept moving round so he was facing each of the 4 sides once.
I brought the wife to see them for the first time (and they say romance is dead!) she was very apprehensive about it, but loved every minute of it.

unfortunately lisbellaw were beaten yesterday 2-13 - 2-5. The score was 1-5 to 1-3 at half time to the cork men, but the law had young duffy sent off.
Hard luck to all involved, they've done the county proud, and they will be back to compete at this stage in the future.
