St. Pat's return to top of Minor pile
St. Patrick's Donagh 3-09 Erne Gaels 0-11
Erne Gaels were going for back-to-back Minor titles but a physically stronger and more mature St Pat's side halted their efforts on Saturday evening, in Brewster Park. The last time the Donagh club brought Minor championship silverware home was when Shane McDermott lifted the trophy. Last Saturday, it was the turn of Johnny O'Reilly who proudly received the cup from Fermanagh Youth Secretary Fionnuala Owens.
The first half was a close fought affair as the teams traded scores. Adrian McMahon landed a free for Belleek before Kevin Curran responded with a point for St Pat's. A Tommy McCaffrey free edged Erne Gaels ahead but this was short-lived as Matthew McGrade drew the side's level with a point.
Luke Ryder edged the Gaels ahead once more with a point but with 15 minutes on the clock St Pat's broke through for a goal. After some good pressure by the Donagh men they turned over possession and the ball fell to Brian McDermott. He beat two defenders before placing the ball low and under the Killian McGlone in nets.
Matthew McGrade furthered their lead with a point but two scores in quick succession from Tommy McCaffrey and Luke Ryder narrowed the deficit. Two points from goal scorer Brian McDermott stretched the St Pat's lead to 1-06 to 0-05 and just before half time Adrian McMahon's shot on goal rose high and went over for a point.
In the second half St Pat's enjoyed the perfect start. Inside a couple of minutes they found the net once more. A series of passes finally found Kevin Curran and he made no mistake shooting to the keeper's right.
Erne Gaels responded well and got themselves back into this game with four unanswered points to leave the minimum between the teams. Oisin Kelm, a free from Adrian McMahon and two frees from Tommy McCaffrey left the score 2-05 to 0-10. From this point onwards St Pat's dominated. Matthew McGrade landed another free before Tommy McCaffrey chipped over Erne Gaels final score in the 48th minute. Brian McDermott got his second goal soon after. He collected a high ball and beat his opposite number before dispatching the ball to the back of the Belleek net. Matthew Mulligan pointed as the game drew to a close and Matthew McGrade sealed the victory with two frees to secure a memorable win.
For the victorious St Pat's team there were many fine performances. Cathal O'Neill, Enda Tierney and Shane Heaney were all solid in defence. Captain Johnny O'Reilly and Colin Logan at midfield won a lot of possession and in attack Matthew McGrade showed well with five points and he was ably supported by Kevin Curran and Brian McDermott.
Erne Gaels are a young side and most of this team will be eligible next year. Best for them were Caolán Keown, Shane Mimnagh and Brian Shaw in defence. Up front Tommy McCaffrey was their main threat all evening.

The St Pauls Tournament itself takes place between the winners of the 9 County Finals at the weekends(mostly on the Sundays) from the start of December with the Final taking place on the 1st of January. Weather is a great factor though at that time of year and the 2010 Final went ahead on 22nd of January.

Confusion Reigns in Cookstown
Extra time or no extra time? There certainly seems to be some confusion in Cookstown tonight after the Tyrone Grade 1 Minor Championship Quarter Final finished in a 0-13 to 2-07 draw after normal time. It's been reported to Teamtalkmag.com tonight that the referee had taken up his position to restart the game but Ardboe insisted that they were not required to play the additional time because of the quality of the lights at the venue. Referee Fergal Daly was left with no other option but to feel his way back to the changing rooms. It certainly looks like this one is definitely set to run and run and probably not just on the field. Teamtalkmag.com will keep you up to date.
The game itself was a really close affair with little or nothing between the two teams throughout the sixty minutes. Cookstown however did take a one point lead into the break at 0-8 to 1-4 with James McGahan 0-4 and Barry Potter 0-3 to the fore for the Fr Rock's, while O'Neill slotted home the Ardboe goal. Tyrone County Minor man Michael Cassidy opened the scoring after the break with a goal in the 32nd minute but Cookstown battled back quickly to lead with ten minutes to go. Once again two McGahan points and another effort from Barry Potter helped their cause. Another Barry Potter point in the 58th minute looked to have won the game however Ardboe levelled in injury time. Michael Cassidy missed the opportunity at the death from a free before Fergal Daly called a halt to normal time. James McGahan finished the game with 0-7.
Final Score – Cookstown 0-13 Ardboe 2-07

They were last year. I'd fcuk them out, if it were up to me. Cavan minor football is a jokeshop at the minute.
they're not allowed in senior club championships, so why minor?

You're correct, Grange have always been among Junior / Int ranks, improving at underage with increasing numbers to choose from, Harps beat them in the 1st round last year in what was regarded as a potential final, so they are strong. Killeavey have been strong at U16 & minor for a few years & no doubt feel they are due one.

Monaghan Minor Football Championship Semi Final
Monaghan Harps 1-12 Scotstown 0-08
The Minor footballers booked their place in the Championship Final (our first since 2006) with a gutsy win over Scotstown in Truagh on Saturday. The lads outscored league winners Scotstown, who edged us out in the league Semi Final, by 1-8 to 0-3 in the second half. The win did come at a cost with Evan Doherty's red card late on, but that shouldn't take away from what was an excellent team performance. Kevin Loughran and Brendan McQuaid missed out through injury – replaced by Donal McCarthy and Conor Forde – although Kevin came on as a sub and made an important contribution.
Our lads started brightly, with Donal McCarthy narrowly off-target from a goal chance early on and although Scotstown kicked the first two points, Evan Doherty fired over after a well-worked one-two with Fearghal McMahon to get us off the mark. Fouls on Evan and Fearghal allowed Fearghal to convert a brace of frees, before Carl Foentjies set up Benin Devlin for a good point from play. Scotstown hit the last two points of the half, though, to take a 0-5 to 0-4 lead in at the interval. We did need a good save from Ryan Shields to deny Scotstown a goal, although Michael Galligan was narrowly off-target at the other end.
The first three points of the second half were all from frees by Fearghal – two after fouls on himself and one after a foul on Shane Loughran – and our lads took charge when Fearghal poked the ball to the net on 42 minutes. Fearghal won and scored a 30-metre free before landing a fine score from a difficult angle, following a foul on Shane Loughran. A couple of Scotstown frees kept them in contention, but Fearghal landed another free from distance before tapping over a 20-metre effort for another foul on Shane, who got on the end of a long ball from substitute Kevin Loughran to kick a fine point late on. We wish Michael Galligan a quick recovery from his injury and we also hope Conor Forde can shake off his injury problems. The lads will play Castleblayney in the Final, probably on October 14 before the Senior Final.
Team and scorers: Ryan Shields; Pauric Murphy, Niall Treanor, Mustafa Gamal; Turlough Clerkin, Michael Galligan, Benin Devlin (0-1); Evan Doherty (0-1), Shane Maguire; Donal McCarthy, Conor Forde, Shane Loughran (0-1); Carl Foentjies, Fearghal McMahon (1-9, 0-8f), Jason McHugh.
Subs: Kevin Loughran for Forde (inj., H-T), Conor Burns for Galligan (inj., 32), Francis Lynch for McCarthy (38).

Surely they will struggle to get the final over before the 25th when their 1st round game is due!

Neutral ground required - would be having a tenner* on Páirc Esler for that fixture.

Ah you wouldn't know now - sure didn't Cross and Burren toss for the venue last year and them only thirty miles apart and not wanting to go traipsing up to Béal Feirsde getting stuck in behind all the Christmas shoppers on the roads.

What's the reasoning behind having St Pauls minor games in Casement anyway?? Is it a fixture backlog or something?!
I see St. Pat's Maghera are due to play in the McCormick cup final on 28th Nov, with Glen v Johnnies on 2nd Dec - bit of a clash here for the Glen lads? There could be anything up to 8 Glen players involved with Maghera. Matches were moved last year to accommodate College's games, perhaps a change of date might be the way to go. Either that or St. Pa'ts may have to field without the Glen players - as they did last year for an arguably more important play off game.
There is nothing more important than club.

Absolutely, and a certain Mr Gormley would also agree with you there. He shipped a fair bit of heavy criticism for his stance last year, but didn't waver one bit. If McCormick cup goes ahead (without any date changes) I wouldn't expect any Glen players involved - seems to be a fairly pointless competition anyway.

Donegal county board have done their minor club players a huge disservice in not giving their county champions the chance to compete at provincial level. It's hard to believe its near the end of November and their county c'ship isn't played off. Madness.
The Fermanagh Minor Final was on July 7.
Any odds out yet??

Ordinarily I would agree, but if a county board can't get its minor final completed by the start of December then its obvious that the county board is the problem. They even managed to get their senior cship played up after the county got to the AI final ffs. Fermanagh had their minor cship completed by 7th July! The Donegal county board are squarely to blame by not giving their cship winners the chance to represent their county in Ulster.

Going by this video evidence, today's game was very good. These are the 2nd half highlights and show the lead changing hands, some fine scores and a late late winner - http://tinyurl.com/d4p2hhf (http://tinyurl.com/d4p2hhf)
Pulsating game yesterday, relieved to come away with the win.Ardboe missed 4 handy enough frees in the 1st half and conceded a very soft goal. Our keeper did redeem himself with 2 brilliant saves though.Another gift of a goal in the 2nd half left us with a lot to do but our boys finished strongly and hit a late winner.
I would safely say a much tougher assignment is ahead of us in the semi final but it's great to be in the last 4 all the same.

Fair enough, seen you's playing in the Ulster final last year and that was as good a minor team as I've ever seen. Is there many of last years team missing this year.

Glen players first, St Pats players second. You know that Tickle.

No.
Glen looked a classy outfit in the match no doubt about it, I can only see them easing past a young warrenpoint side. The only way I could see this glen side being beat now is if Ardboe can play and sustain the way the played at the start of their 1/4 final.
Did I read somewhere that basically all the Ardboe team are under-age again next year?
Fair play to Glen. As good a minor team that I have seen in the competition for a long time. Easing off at the finish taking off some of their best players with 20 minutes to go (O Hara and Mc Fall). Two in a row looks inevitable now.
Of the starting 15 that won the Tyrone championship Ardboe will have 13 available next year. Our captain Peter O'Neill and county minor Michael Cassidy will be overage.

Plenty of good teams left in the competition. We won't be getting ahead of ourselves. Warrenpoint will get the utmost respect from Glen!!
Just seen the two match reports in the Irish news to summarise glen strolled through and never really got any test good job from there keeper ciaran McCoy on a penalty save early on, Ryan Dougan with a MoM performance and full forward Conor Convery with two goals to his name. In the other affair Ardboe looked like strolling to a victory themselves with MoM Michael Cassidy on fine form scoring 2-4 and a class apart with the ball in hand, and at the back Keeper Conor Quinn deserving much of the credit pulling of a few splendid saves. With Ardboe looking good for their lead the Cavan lads pulled it back but the LoughShore lads just did enough to squeeze through with a late Winner from Michael Lynn

Although Glen are worthy favourites for the Ulster title, Warrenpoint could prove to be a banana skin. In the Down championship they were the underdogs in every match they played but kept producing the goods when needed and have a few tasty players . They too like the Tyrone team have a lot of lads available next year, 13 of the starting 15 I believe. On paper Glen should be comfortable victors but you never know football is a funny old game at times!
Lads i think Ardboe will find it tough next round. Being honest they were lucky to get the win against the Cavan team who completed dominated the second half, especially around the middle of the field. Was a cracking game to watch though. Game could of went either way. Cavan team made a few changes that seemed to drive them on a bit. Full forward for Ardboe was top quality. Castlerahan/Lavey should be proud though!
I don't see how Ardboe were lucky.
If anything it was the Cavan lads who had the luck, they had 1 sent off in normal time and another after the whistle.but there could have been at least another 2 lined in normal time.God knows how many yellow cards they picked up over the hour. There was little between the sides but I would like you to tell me what luck we got!
As for the semi final,I haven't saw Glen or Warrenpoint play but some of our boys were down at Glen's game last weekend and were very impressed with them.So I would agree with you that we will struggle but who knows,we might get lucky ;)
Glen will cakewalk the competition from here on in. Warrenpoint done well to get out of Down but would be nowhere near the level of Glen.

They almost threw away a serious lead? Only for a last minute score, they were lucky in the end to get the result considering Castlerahan/Lavey did dominate midfield especially for a lot of the second half. Where should other lads of got the line? Did you see the abuse the refferee and cavan players got from Ardboes managers and supporters? I know its an Ulster game and that its tough but the young lads didn't deserve to be roared at. I hope you do go very far considering your team is young with lots of potential and I like your style of play.
Kounty,I've yet to see anyone here post about how great Ardboe are.We are a young side and are in bonus territory.
Management and supporters were giving the referee bad manners alright but it's my opinion that he let the Cavan side away with persistant fouling all day and that's where the frustration was coming from.I don't condone it but that's why he got pelters. It wouldn't annoy chicken though,he thrives in the oul abuse ;)
There were verbals between our supporters and Cavan players and mentors afterwards and you're right, that's not on.I don't know what that was about. Not great to see especially in youth football but it's done and dusted now.
Killeavy must fancy their chances with the kind draw they received. They beat Warrenpoint easily in a friendly this year and the margin Watty's beat Warrenpoint by will give them a good yardstick to size up Watty's for the final.Off course I am assuming there will be no shock results!!!

Jeez enjoy the praise when your getting it, if you read the gaelic life and I think you will find that its a widely held view that Glen are strong favourites. Also I can assure you I am definitely not a Killeavy man trying to hype you up (south Armagh yes), but for what its worth I think they will definitely meet Glen in the final. Seen them playing in the county final against Grange and they laboured at times. They have a soft draw but they do have one of the best young players in Ulster and 3 or 4 other very good players so will probably give you your sternest test. Anyway if it makes you feel better I will tone down my praise! Warrenpoint to knock them out on Sunday!

Praise/cute hoorism call it what you want!!
For a man claiming not to be from Killeavy you have plenty of insight from a previous post.
Take it as given that this club has little or no support within the Killeavy club. It is a one man crusade to cause conflict and upheavel. However whilst the playing numbers in this
part of the parish might be small, the ability of this man to lobby and pounce on opportunities shouldn't be underestimated.

As long as there wasn't any barrels thrown towards the players... Assan were missing 5 players, 3 county Minors. County u21 Division 1 final was last Sunday.
Strange that the County board wouldn't change it, but then again nothing is a surprise with the current County board.

I'd agree yeah, I'm not from either of the amalgamted teams ( castlerahan and lavey) was just making the point that they couldn't field a full team due to the County board not changing the game. This rule must have only been brought in in the last 2 years, because I remember in the Minor and U21 Ulster Club an amalgamated team wasn't allowed take part.

Get that man in the Derry Senior squad!!!!
This as good as it gets at Minor Club level. Wattys on this form are destined for 2 in-a-row, brilliant play - http://tinyurl.com/cyjy9ro (http://tinyurl.com/cyjy9ro)
No pressure on the forwards whatsoever there. Ardboe will be a big step up in class. Glen will have their work cut out against a well organised outfit with one of Tyrone's brightest young talents in young Cassidy up front. 50 50 game.

Glen were far from great today. Need a huge improvement to beat a strong Ardboe side in the semi!
Can't agree lads, I thought Wattys were untouchable. Their support play and finishing was top-class. It's over to Ardboe next to put it up to them. All the best bits and interviews are on here now: http://tinyurl.com/brgcwbg (http://tinyurl.com/brgcwbg)
Appreciate the videos but the hype does our lads no favours. Just like it done St Johns none. Rest assure Ardboe will push us all the way. They breed them tough around the loughshore!!

Thanks for the compliment.
Think the winners of the Ardboe/Glen match will go on and win the tournament. The match shows what's so great about this tournament, two great teams. Glen will be favourites no doubt but it will be a match of Glens size and style vs Ardboes grit and determination.
Have to say Watty's were very impressive, although Warrenpoint team were average at best, their midfielders/center half back didn't mark or track their men and they played down the one side of the pitch, very predictable.Suppose you can only beat what's put in front of you. Should be a good final between Watty's and Killeavey assuming they both come through their semi's.
Castleblaney have withdrawn and Killeavy through to final apparently?!

So Killeavy haven't played a game and are in the final?!
8 players - what happened there I wonder?
What happened in last game? Never heard of 8 players sent off or suspended in one game in my life? So Killeavy straight through to final without playing a match.

I thought Castleblayney had only 2 men sent off and were appealing that? Not ideal preparations for Killeavy but I'm sure they ain't complaining!

No as Donegal never entered a team in the tournament.
It would seem Watty Grahams are favourites for this competition, I watched a video on Ardboe and whether or not they win the competition is irrelevant the improvement that group of players has made from U 12 is remarkable rising a grade every year through to Minor two years ago they were Grade 2. They should be an inspiration to every youth player in every club around the country of what they can acheive through hard work.
The Ardboe lads have been through a lot this year especially considering they were kicked out of the Tyrone championship by the CCC and have suffered personal loss.It has only served to make them stronger and there's a serious bond between them all.
Not trying to be the cute hoor here but it would be a major shock if we were to beat Glen but as you say Boghopper, their rise from grade 4 football should give hope to clubs all around the country.

Out of interest Rossa what team won the Grade 1 in Tyrone at U16s two years ago?? I remember we played Errigal at the All Ireland Feile 4 years ago!
Naomh Mhuire won the u-16 title in 2010,think they beat Omagh in the final.
Cheers. Some achievement for your lads. Should be a good game on the 26th!
Killeavy in the final with having played a match. A bit of a pointless competition this year it seems.
Hoping that our boys do themselves justice Walter.
I think the organisers should let Ardboe into the final and make Killeavy play Glen instead ;)

You get days when you just have to hold your hands up and admit defeat to a superior side.Today was one of those days for the young Rossa's.We were very, very poor but I credit that to Glen who were dominant all over the field.Their defence was outstanding, midfield lorded it and their forwards were out in front all day.Best of luck to them in the final.I don't know what Killeavy are like but they'd need to be bloody good!!
Nearly all of the Ardboe boys underage again next year, they have been a credit to our club and have many good days ahead.UTR.

Wattys were head and shoulders above the loughshore men everywhere. They wiped them out in midfield and the Rossa's decision to play a two man forward line made it an easy day for the Derry defenders. It was a hammering but could even have been sorer on Ardboe. Watty Graham's are a credit to their townland. Brilliant forward movement and tenacious defending as a unit.
lets be honest Wattys are the best minor team at club level in ireland, who is going to beat them.? Killeavey, I don't think so!
Awful conditions for a game today but we got the win and that's what Semi finals are about. Fair play to Ardboe who battled well. Cassidy is def one for the future!
Killeavy in the final won't be easy. O'Hanlon will take a watching and they also have a few other Armagh minors. Fingers crossed we can do the business!

Is O'Hanlon fit? Heard he has been injured the last while. Killeavy will need him fit if they are to have any chance. If reports are right and Glen midfield are prominent Killeavy will also need a big game from Murphy to stay close. The lack of matches will also go against them I think.

Walter, would you expect many of your minor team to be playing for the seniors next year?
Last year about 5 of that minor team played in the seniors at some stage. I'd expect those players and maybe one or 2 more to push through next year. That team yesterday is still relatively young with 10 or 11 underage next year. How about yourselves? Cassidy certainly looks ready for senior football. Glass done well on him though considering he is only 15.
Cassidy would be the only one contending for a senior spot,he has played a few senior games already.I would say 5 or 6 of them would be ready for reserve football.
Glass was very good,is that the same lad that was on your u-15 og sport team?
Number 6 for yous was also a worker and has plenty of pace. Yeah that's him, he captained the Og sport team this year.
Thought that was him.Iwas up at the og sport finals and he was a class apart. Some prospect.
Our no.6 Peter O'Neill played 3 or 4 reserve games towards the tail end of last season,if he bulks up a bit he should be pushing for a senior spot in a couple of years.
That Glen side has had a lot of hype written about them and we were hoping it would go to their heads and they would take us lightly. But they seem mature beyond their years.Young lads can easily get ahead of themselves when they get praised like that but they seem like they're well grounded.
Yeah Enda doesn't let anyone get ahead of themselves, that's for sure! All that media talk is a load of nonsense. Killeavy won't be easy in the final but hopefully we can get over the line!
Good win for Glen yesterday, they have a very good defensive record to date with not too many goals leaked. Would this team be as strong again next year Walter?
We would be pretty strong next year Yellowcard. Think 10 or 11 starters are underage again. Once again Slaughtneil will be the main opposition in Derry. In the Paul Mc Girr last year a very strong Rossa side beat us by 2 in the first round and went on to win it.

Thats impressive, its like a conveyor belt of talent in Glen at the minute then. Hopefully you's can kick on and win a Derry senior title in the next 3 or 4 years, it seems like you have the right man at the helm to do it.
It's definitely the best minor team I have ever seen.
I would agree with that, class outfit.
walter would this years team be as good/worse as last year's winning team? How many boys were on the team last year from this year? Ye said there will be 11 on the team next year; so any players will play on the team for 3 full years?

It's hard to say Tickle as its practically last years team bar Emmet Bradley, Michael Warnock and Brendan O'Kane. Conor Gallagher missed all of last years Ulster campaign and has been a great addition at midfield. The likes of O'Hara, Tallon, Convery, Gunning, Hegarty and Mulholland will be underage next year. Conor was good going forward yesterday.
in the video clip for the glen goal, i'm pretty sure the no. 5 and no. 21 for glen also played on the victorious ulster og sport team earlier in the year.

Incedentally, how many from the minor squad is in the u21 squad. Id hazard a guess at 80% . If the killeavy minors are in the top two in ulster then surly they would have a bucket load in this squad

That is pure madness, this will be a hammering session to be honest. Glen were fancied before the competition started and have had hard enough games leading up to this, Killeavy could have got to the final but to not have any games leading up to this will only make the Glen bigger favourites

A bit of ht reading..........................
WHO WAS WATTY GRAHAM?????
Walter Graham was born at the Crew, Maghera and became an United Irishman and was in charge of a Unit in the District which was made up of Units of National guards and United Irishmen. Watty Graham set out from Maghera on 6th June 1798 with 5,000 men; 500 of these bore firearms the remainder had pikes and turf spades. Due to the advancing enemy advances the Legion from Maghera and District fled and left their leaders to make the best of it with the Crown Forces. From then on the writing was on the wall for the United Irishmen in Co.Derry. An award of £5,000 was put on the head of Watty Graham for information relating to his capture. When he became aware of this he set off to try and get to America leaving the Crewe and his father, mother, wife and two children. He made out for Magilligan intending to cross to Moville where a passage had been arranged for him. Walter Graham stopped at the Rectory of (Tamlaght) Magilligan with the intention of collecting £4,000 of a debt owed to him by a Reverend Church. 'Church' betrayed him however. Less than a year after the betrayal of Watty Graham the Rev. Church got a call to attend a lady parishioner on her death bed. He saddled his horse and set off but within minutes his riderless horse came back home. The rector had been bludgeoned to death at the entrance to his own Avenue. It seems that Watty was then taken to Coleraine and held there until a detachment of soldiers came from Maghera to take him back to Maghera. There he was court-martialled and sentenced to be hanged, drawn and quartered for treason and rebellion. It is strongly believed that Watty Graham was hanged on a large beech tree at the entrance to the present rectory gates on June 19th 1798.

Not long in. Absolutely buzzing after that today. These lads are a credit to themselves, their families and Glen club. First team to do it since the mighty Shamrocks says it all. If we can go on to achieve a snippet of their success I'll be delighted!! Conor Glass at 15 years old is outstanding. Best player on the field in my opinion and most people in the club. UTW!!!!
And here's the second goal - http://www.jeromequinnmedia.com/video/St-Pauls-201213/Glen/Goal-2---Watty-Grahams-v-Killeavy-1143 (http://www.jeromequinnmedia.com/video/St-Pauls-201213/Glen/Goal-2---Watty-Grahams-v-Killeavy-1143)

Correction: Ryan Dougan the midfielder scored the goal that was given to O'Hara.
Will take the rap for that one.
It was Paul Gunning(13) who got the cúl.
Very impressive performance again by Glen, their off the ball running and inter play was a joy to watch. The scoreline probably flattered Killeavy and I have never seen as good a 15 year old as Glass who I thought was man of the match. Great side and will be the team to beat again next year.

Many a senior team would like a captain who speaks so well. A fair player too. Hope he and his team make a good match of it.
Great speaker
Stuffing today
Watty Grahams have become only the third club to retain the Ulster Minor Club Tournament in the 31 years of the competition, following Killybegs 1984-85 and Ballinderry 1996-97. Derry clubs have won 13 titles out of the 23 played since 1990. Watty Grahams have won both of their titles from the Preliminary Round, playing a total of eight games.
Their biggest winning margin was 23 points over Truagh Gaels and their smallest winning margin was five points over St Eunan's. Their average winning margin is 12.5 points.
2011/12
Watty Grahams 4-14 Truagh Gaels 0-3
Watty Grahams 0-9 St Eunan's 0-4
Watty Grahams 2-11 O'Raghallaigh Gaels 1-4
Watty Grahams 4-12 Armagh Harps 0-6
2012/13
Watty Grahams 3-12 St John's 0-10
Watty Grahams 4-11 Warrenpoint 0-11
Watty Grahams 2-12 Ardboe 0-6
Watty Grahams 4-7 Killeavy 1-7
Just looking at who scored what against Watty's the last couple years and Warrenpoint who I previously thought were an average team have scored the most against them, might have been a bit harsh in my judgement of them. They may well be the second best team in Ulster. All the same Watty's are a class act and everyone is second to them at the moment.
Well done to Glen. Up there with the best minor teams ever. Very interested to see if McFaul, Dougan, O'Hara, Carville and the likes can be household names in the future with Derry. Special mention must go to Enda Gormley. A cute fela that has seen potential in these lads from a young age and has coached them to the pinnacle of their career so far. Glen for Intermediate Championship 2013???

First class video J. Fair play!!
Would Casement not be better bet for these games lads? Was surprised could only stand at one side of the ground and no cover.
Casement would be ideal but I suppose St. Pauls put a lot of work into organising the tournament and would want to host it at their own ground. It's grand on a dry day but the conditions for spectators at the Ardboe and Glen game were hazardous. There were people falling all over the place on the grass bank and we were walking through gutters.
People aren't asking for first class facilities but surely it's not too much to ask for a concrete path to run from the entrance up to the terrace. I'm sure funding would be available from the ulster council given that they host this tournament year on year!

I know it's not an "official" tournament as such tickle but surely someone within the ulster council would realise that the grounds could do with an upgrade. By no means slating St Paul's, I just think that the opportunity to get funding would be available!
Anyone got the two glen teams that lined out in both finals?
walter maybe able to correct me here; but i think there may have been only a change of 3/4 players. Emmett Bradley was one, and yer man who plays in midfield this year never played last year due to injury. So thats 2!
2011 final
C McCloy; O Hegarty, R McDonnell, T Convery; B O'Kane, C Carville, C Mulholland; R Dougan, E Bradley (1-2, 1f); M Warnock (2-2), S O'Hara (0-1), C McCabe; D Tallon (1-0), C Convery (0-3, 1f), C McFaul (0-4, 3f). Subs: P Gunning for McCabe (36), G Tallon for T Convery (49), O Glass for McCabe (52), T McKenna for D Tallon (54), K McErlean for Warnock (55).
2012 final
Ciaran Mc Cloy, Conor Mc Devitt, Ryan Mc Donnell, Oisin Hegarty, Conor Glass, Connor Carville, Cathal Mulholland, Ryan Dougan, Conor Gallagher, Tomas Convery, Ciaran Mc Faul, Stephen O'Hara, Paul Gunning, Conor Convery, Danny Tallon.

3 starters from last years final didn't play this year. The rest would be positional changes. 5 starters this year are overage next year. Glass 3 more years at minors with Tallon, Mulholland and Convery another 2.

So Danny Tallon will have 4 years playing at Minor level, and in the first year he scored a goal in the Ulster Minor Club final, and in the second year he scored 2 goals in the Ulster Minor final, so that means.............................................
he is some player!! Ah great to see.
Everybody is raving about Glass, but I haven't seen him play. He is a big stocky lad with red hair, correct? He is going to turn into a big lump of a man and by the sounds of it he is going to carry the shills with him. Heard he was MOTM in the final there. Another 3 years at minor.............. good luck to him.
Slaughtneil are strong next year but sure we'll give it a rattle!
I wouldnt describe Conor as stocky, 6ft 2 and pure ability. He was definitely man of the match in the final but I heard from different ones that the MOM award is more a player of the tournament so fair played to Ryan Dougan!

Slaughtneil must have had a very good minor team this year as well if they held Glen to a point, arguably the second best team in Ulster, would they be the main rivals next year along with Rossa?
What made Glass' display all the more impressive was that he got the better of O'Hanlon who is on the Armagh senior panel, and he also managed to contribute a good bit going forward as well. I'd heard rave reviews about him from the Ulster Og Sport this year and it seems that you could have another gem on your hands. Is he on the Maghera McRory squad walter?

Just need convincing. Seeing is believing and all that !!!!!!
Brian McGuigan had a good article in the Gaelic life criticising the facilities at St Paul's and I would have to say I'd agree with everything he said. The facilities are outdated and the club obviously makes a few pound out of hosting the competition and there is nothing wrong with that. But to charge £8 in and £2 for a program is steep considering the facilities. It is maybe excusable to charge £8 for a final but certainly not for matches prior to the final. It's a fantastic competition and St Paul's are deserving hosts considering that they started it, but they really should make the venue more spectator friendly.

Agree with Brian. I've liked the St Paul's threads on here each December but I was taken aback when I made my first visit for Ardboe game. It's delicate lads, I love the tourney but wouldn't be in a rush back to the ground.

Ah yellow card, ye give that young O'Hanlon boy some stick altogether lol!!!
Ah now Tickle that hardly qualifies as stick, I would rate him very highly. I was just praising Glass display, some height of a lad for a 15 year old and very good with the ball in his hands as well.
sorry lad. I thought ye were giving o'hanlon a bit of stick on another thread! my apoligies!!
Jeez tickle sure he was saying he was the best club minor in ulster on here last week ;)
Looking forward to watching how O'Hanlon fairs for St.Pauls against the Abbey in the Mac Rory. Not sure if the Abbey have someone as good as young Glass to mark him. Will be interesting to see if he displays the ability that a lot of people believe he has, if so should be good to watch.
Ah elk yer the man who has been slagging him!!! lol
Just need convincing. Seeing is believing and all that !!!!!!
Although I know were you are coming from most people who have seen him will confirm he has a real talent. To be honest the last couple of times I have seen him play he has been a bit off form. On saying that in the Armagh under 21 championship last night I thought he showed some real snippets of class. For me he is the kind of player who plays well with good players around him and makes good players look better. How he deals with a dip in form will determine how good a player he will become.
I was a bit surprised by the £8 + £2 as well. Then again, I was talking to a boy who just threw a fiver in and another who paid nowt. They were two city fcukers too so it's who ye know.
What were the programs like?
Sh1t last year so never got one this year!

Did the two boyos look like Drici & Hardstation? If so, then understandable.

Teams, players' DOB, a bit about the 2 clubs, an ad for Raffo's, The Bank formerly known as Ulster Bank foreword, another foreword from the Lord Mayor, Jerome ad, the draw, an ad for the PSNI, an ad for Winemark, nice action shot on the front, an ad for that bank again. I think anyway.
