I agree with Ziggy regarding the title of this thread, the emphasis should be put on this comment:

The 'Dying Swan' routine can be witnessed at every level, from underage to senior, from school to club to county. The problem is so widespread that it must be assumed that players of all ages are being encouraged to do it by their mentors.

I'm sure everyone here could pinpoint a few culprits in their own club, that go to ground to easy.  But the fact is, many people don't condemn their own players for diving, the condemnation comes when they feel sinned against.

I remember this game very well, I was standing on the terracing behind the goals, to the Brandywell side of the pitch!  I was absolutely gutted after this game!
IMHO the primary factor that cost us the game, was Coleman Snr's inability to spot that his son was getting roasted by M Linden!! Yet in the Marshes in 93, Scullion (who was playing his first game after an injury) was replaced in the first half because he was getting a clippin from M Linden.

Brolly has a point although the fact that he, or somebody in the Gaelic Life,  cannot spell Sean Cavanagh's name properley (spelt with a K throughourt the article - also had Colm Cooper as Colin Cooper) smacks of poor journalism.

Throughout his "journalism career" Brolly has spelt Cavanagh's name with a K! It's more to do with winding people up than poor journalism
