Some piece of work. No question he's the worst president in the history of United states of America.

Yet, with the current state of the world, he's a good bet to double down on that. We could be in for a dark next five years.
He'll 100% flip it to his benefit and play the victim, as all narcissists do. Even more of a martyr now for his followers.  Incredibly divisive for the US.  He sounded very bitter. No doubt it'll be appealed as well, and this GAA audience can hardly look down our noses at him for that!

Quote from: Sportacus on May 30, 2024, 09:37:58 AMGavin admits there is an Irish Sea Border.  Pathetic that Nolan had Jeffrey in front of him for hours and let him spoof away that checks and customs were gone - there are checks every day of the week at the ports in Belfast and Larne.

As there always has been?
Not on your Tesco groceries.

Quote from: Sportacus on May 28, 2024, 02:43:19 PMYou can talk about structures all day, but the coaching tactics are so god awful that you'll be very lucky to see a good game. May as well tune in for the semifinal and final.  Most of the rest of the games are just cat and mouse nonsense.

Tyrone Donegal was a joy to watch I though.

Cant but admire the conditioning of the Donegal players.

Whilst there are some terrible games, we love to jump on the bandwagon of criticizing Gaelic football without looking at each game individually.

I've seen some brilliant games this year personally, and some terrible ones as with any sport; but there's definitely been more games I've watched where I've came away thinking that was an enjoyable  watch.
That's good, I'm genuinely glad to hear it. I'm sure Louth supporters enjoyed their day as well, and so on.  But there is so much dross, all caused by the coaching, nothing wrong with the rules. Two good semifinals and final in front of a packed Croke Park will end the season well hopefully. But there has to be some reflection on the overall entertainment value of the sport.  It's dying a death in my opinion.

Dreadful game in my opinion.  Pulling everyone back inside the 45 and the other team throwing it around in front of them.  The number of backward passes is embarrassing.  Sad to see young lads buying into this over-coached bollix. The only thing it has going for it is it might be a close finish. No wonder stadiums are empty.

Rishi's one day wonder in NI.  Box ticked.  Casement is on the tip of absolutely no one's tongue in Westminster. When Labour come into power they may back it, or they may say the Tories ballsed it up. John Finucane saying on TV "it will be built". That gets said a lot and I'd love to know on what basis people say it?

The British public will get bored of Starmer and Reeves very quickly, because they are very boring.

It just feels like there's little or no jeopardy.  Galway, Armagh, Derry, Westmeath for instance - great group on paper and if only two went through then the consequences for each game would be more exciting.

Quote from: AustinPowers on May 17, 2024, 05:45:33 PMI was watching a bit of Michelle O'Neill  answering questions at  that covid  enquiry.

I haven't really  followed the minute details of the Bobby Storey  funeral fallout , so  here's my    question....,,,,

MON said she was  invited  to the funeral as part of a group of 30 mourners  (which was  the limit at the time.)

So, what exactly is  the issue with her attending?  If she was one of 30 invited,  surely she was allowed  given that this was  the number allowed  at funeral services  at the  time?

If  more people entered the church (making it  above the number allowed) , then surely that's the church's responsibility to  control that, not MON or any other of the mourners?

Or am I missing  something here?
I haven't followed the minute detail either, very few do, and that's Sinn Féin's problem with this.  It just came across as a fully blown Republican funeral for one of their own with SF leadership at the helm and two fingers to the rules,  while many others had to bury their family member and abide by horrendous restrictions. One law for them, and another for everyone else, and it left a very bitter taste for many.  It's that simple.

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on May 13, 2024, 08:44:31 PMBoth marks should have been went for, both men have the distance, so hitting it hard enough to go dead,  instead of a Donegal counter attack.
Disagree tbh, Jarly Og probably hasn't kicked 10 shots with his feet his whole Armagh career, Soupys was the wrong side.
Then why did they call the mark?

Quote from: AustinPowers on May 12, 2024, 07:32:09 PMA few things after  watching all that:

Football as a spectacle is  pathetic.

Penalties need to go

I think McGeeney has taken Armagh as far as he  can. I expect change  there
1. It is so bad, but sadly if you're under 30 it's all you know.  That said, the shooting today was very good.
2. Jarlath rightly highlights that we have a unique sport, and he's right, so get rid of penalties.
3. I'll be amazed now if Armagh retain McGeeney.  An amazing footballer in his day, but his team are so scarred now mentally that they just can't do it.  Jarly Og declining the free perfectly illustrated the problem.

Quote from: Look-Up! on May 02, 2024, 09:42:31 AMWhat's people's take on Chelsea and Pochettino? Gets a very easy ride from the press compared to Utd, although if they win tonight they'll only be 3 points behind them.

With that squad though, surely they should be contenders. If they have everyone fit next year, a good manager should be at least competing for CL, and if City regress, a title. If they can't, you'd imagine huge financial implications are coming down the line.
They definitely worked their socks off in that last game against Villa.

Quote from: Snapchap on May 01, 2024, 01:37:51 PMThe interviews are top class, and Niblock is a fine interviewer, but he does need to tone it down on the superlatives.

Claims that a podcast is "the most powerful one yet" do tend to become a bit meaningless when the same claim is made on an almost weekly basis, and when, as I say, each episode seems to have it's own dedicated section for talking about how "phenominal the response has been to last weeks episode".
I'm ok until he says "Tyroo-ann", and then I switch it off!

Quote from: maldini on April 30, 2024, 04:40:14 PMWhy do they do the draw for this before the provincial finals?
It's a good question.  Some teams might now be thinking a loss wouldn't be the end of the world, so it takes the edge off things.
