Quote from: imtommygunn on Today at 10:41:53 AMDavy and Lohan have a very unhealthy relationship. I expect it's the same for a good few of them. I don't know the full ins and outs but a lot of stuff there with his da etc.

If you ever get a chance there used to be a thread on Clare hurlers on how Brian Lohan got the job. He wasn't even interviewed for the job even though he'd expressed an interest in going for it and it was going to another (highly regarded coach all the same) lad known to be friendly with Davy and his Da only for a delegate to complain about how Brian was treated and then some other delegates rowed in behind and lo and behold he got appointed.

Some of the goings on in the Clare CB would take some beating, and in his first year Lohan had to put his hand into his own pocket for a lot of stuff for the panel of players before a separate organisation or supporters club got together to finance them and the centre of excellence...

Yeah, Lohan has to pay for a meal with his own credit/bank card.

Yeah, that's how it started.

Taking over the warm up area of another team...that had already been set up and ready to go, while the other college was in the changing room.

There is a bit of chatter about the GAA using AI images for programme covers, complete with soccer goals.

Quote from: Coffeebeforeand on Today at 04:25:06 PMManagement supplied it to them!

I know it's being looked at but it should never have happened in the first place

My son wasn't drinking as he's too young and I know that kids at 16/17 are permitted to drink by their parents on in some cases but it shouldn't be allowed or deemed acceptable behaviour by a coach. I've known a lot of these kids for many years and they are good kids. They were getting off the bus blocked!!

There's been so much wrong this year, in hurling and football yet it's been allowed to progress and this is the straw that broke the camels back!

It seems the woke brigade has joined the forum

Thanks for the input #tool 🔨

Used to follow Shels when I lived in Dublin, lived beside Tolka Park so went to games.
Bohs/Shamrock Rovers probably biggest rivals both on and off the pitch.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on Today at 01:36:14 PMWasn't at the match, had forgotten id (her) had arranged a barbeque, but was following online, didn't see the clash.

Spoke to ones at it most said was not a red and one said he had time to pull out of the stroke?

Funny enough yesterday game i did I'd 2 unintentional clashes of sticks around the face guard, I gave a yellow for both and explained why, no hassle with it, both players got up fairly quickly and didn't make a meal of it

Seen the Galway players face after the game and he certainly had a cut on his nose, maybe the blood made up his mind? faceguards could be better though, some lads noses are sitting on the wire lol!

Anyway, by the ruling its down to a few factors recklessness with the hurl, intent to strike and so on, you could make an argument to find any decision to send him off. Maybe he was just looking a handy second half  ;)

I think the hurling helmet may have had something to do with it. (google images: conor whelan) he seems to have a a helmet that doesnt really cover his face, definitely unothordox use of the faceguard. Harsh on mcgarry, ref made a balls and ruined what was up until then a good game.

that said it was probably only a matter of time before galway pulled away.

Everyone looking forward to Gleeson's last game? (only slegging flip sake, calm down)

Can someone enlighten me as to the nuances/differences between all the different LOI Clubs in the Dublin area

Are their allegiances specific to particular professions or geographical areas?

We're there fewer clubs at one time that subsequently split?

Are some clubs more working class than others?

Is there crossover between Rugby/GAA and particular clubs

What are the biggest rivalries?

That sort of thing

Thanks

Yeh main issue apparently is the Fitzgibbon game years ago when they were managing LIT & UL (I think)
