You didn't Archie but everyone knows he's from there and I'm not. Like I said they're just really good but sure I'll stop signing them up, as you say, no bother.

I'd say now that he's had his fill of this Board. Anyway, you haven't been following my posts too closely if you think I'm from Tyrone, and you'll find that 4 others posted initially about the Giants site before I did. I've posted about it since because it's really good, simple as that.

getting back to the videos, which is what this thread was about originally  ;) I see Baker Bradley is already talking the right game about 'little old antrim' and I couldn't help but smile when captain Paddy was talking about buses in Belfast being in short supply.

some of the antrim heads in casement today were saying it might be casement but I would seriously doubt it cos the ulster council made that decision on the night on the Cavan-Fermanagh game and they don't change things like that easily. And anyway, sure it would be a home game for Antrim! There's no way that would be fair on Tyrone, not that we have to be fair to Tyrone, but still. Btw on the video loading bit, try changing your browse to safari or something else like firefox, it only takes a few minutes to download from their site if you google them and the videos play really easily on them.

GAA Discussion / Antrim celebrations

This is cool and I'm not even from Antrim. It's the few minutes after the final whistle in Clones, no talking just yelling and roaring, like 39 years spilling over.  ;D
And I dunno why but the match report is kinda different than the tv coverage. All good for you Saffrons. http://ulster.gaa.ie/landofthegiants/

GAA Discussion / Re: Biggest club in Derry?

only teasing. actually it's a fantastic set-up for a club that's not that prominent on the field. archie is right though, it's one thing having big numbers and another thing having a winning mentality.

http://ulster.gaa.ie/landofthegiants/2009/06/18/sean-oneill/ - if you listen to Sean O'Neill, who was named by the way on the team of the century and was still playing in 1975 (in the ulster final) he says the back-up they had was the key because they were 'streets ahead' of what everyone else was doing. But I don't really get this, like what were the rest doing? Were they really so backward and slow as to be caught out by boys who decided to train together and wear black shorts? rose-tinted glasses maybe, Sean. On the same point, why did he never captain Down in that era? we never hear much from the only living ulsterman named on the team of the century but i gather he is articulate, pity he couldn't give a more balanced view on the progress of gaelic football through the ages.

GAA Discussion / 60s football was better

http://ulster.gaa.ie/2009/06/21/down-legends-roll-back-the-years/ - just watching these interviews with the Down legends from the 60s and the one thing they all have in common is that they hate modern football. they don't say as much but it's clear they don't like the way Tyrone and the like have mastered the art of holding onto the ball 'for five minutes' and playing the percentage game. In other words, they think it's boring. when you think about it, what excitement was there in Casement on Sunday?

GAA Discussion / Not Mickey Harte, for a change
June 22, 2009, 05:37:15 PM
fed up with hearing/listening/reading him..... well here's his number 2 for a change, the man who's always on the sideline with him. Tony McCann or is it Donnelly, I always mix them up. Actually he's a very chirpy chap.

rare John Devine interview here - http://ulster.gaa.ie/landofthegiants/ - he talks about the defence only conceding 7 points.

GAA Discussion / Re: Land of the Giants

http://ulster.gaa.ie/landofthegiants/ - these reports are still of a consistently high quality, not just putting up bland interviews or whole matches. the old fella from Donegal is 96 and he's a hoot. at the other end of the scale, the Antrim half-time boys were decent but can someone explain how a lad in county Down can play for Antrim?

There are lots of games on tv alright but it's all the big games. The GAA isn't just about that, tho granted it's what gets the crowds. Look at the club games around the country that are fantastic affairs. You can't say the same for say local soccer, they don't compare. Or the sigerson is so much different than the collingwood. So these affairs deserve coverage, but get little tv or video. and isn't the gaa about promoting all aspects of Irish culture, so just because the crowd isn't great doesn't the likes of ulster hurling semi-finals deserve coverage and profile. The game yesterday at casement won't feature anywhere cos of all the big games on Sunday, well apart from here - http://ulster.gaa.ie/landofthegiants/2009/06/15/hurling-semi-final/ - but it at least deserves this.

Fair enough, Jolene got the goals and a nice wee point which I see is in the best scores so far in Ulster. By the way, did you spot Ricey in the crowd shot, with his hoody up. That might be McCullagh as well beside him.
