Quote from: Walter Cronc on Today at 07:50:32 AMSome nonsense being talked by the usual suspects. I'm with Keyser on this one. We battled well considering the circumstances. We'll be fine come preliminary quarters onwards.

I'm sure before this championship started the objective for Derry was to match or better their last two championship campaigns which was All Ireland semi final. If it's a Preliminary quarter final and Derry win that it will be three games in three weeks and up against a rested table topper (probably Kerry,Dublin or Donegal)

No , my first problem is with the gaa go . I was willing to pay for it but unfortunately I couldn't watch the game I paid for so therefore cancelled my subscription .
As regards watching more games,  I couldn't care less , It's not my job to promote gaelic games , I'll just watch other sports 👍

GAA Discussion / Re: Seconds teams

We've done it over the years in both hurling and football.. after dropping out of the senior team and playing reserve football back in the day it was a decent club day out, reserves before seniors and few pints and head home, super Sundays..

Then the kids changed, they'd rather sit on a senior bench than turn out for reserves, standards dropped and interest also..

We went down the road of reserves playing in lower leagues, definitely better than the reserve set up, but you need a pool of 25 players, just in case of call ups to the seniors, not all clubs have that.

But we've been back to the reserve set up but with the reserves on after the seniors! No buzz about it, ref'd one last year, it was brutal

I much prefer a second team in a league, in fact I much prefer them competing for junior and intermediate if they are at that level, but ensure no messing with team selections come championship, teams have to be strictly graded and assessed before season starts.

These lads that don't make senior ever, deserve to win an all county championship also, I can see why they can't progress into Ulster, that's understandable too

Quote from: small white mayoman on Today at 10:34:20 AMNo my Internet is perfect as I watched the golf on now tv .
No one is expecting them to show every game on free to air , however would it be too much to expect them to show one game on a Saturday during the championship when possibly 10 games were been played ?
The championship will be as good as over in 8 weeks time so its not that much to expect imo.

There are 5 hours of hurling on RTE today. A majority of people in Ireland do not watch GAA or take a very passing interest.

You want more games on because you yourself watch alot of sport.

Best wishes to the U-20's this lunchtime.

It feels strange going in as favourites v Kerry in a final, but hopefully they do the business.

Quote from: Applesisapples on Today at 08:41:02 AMThere are always players coming and going on panels, some players want games and know they are not near it with the county. Even players getting minutes every match can get fed up with so much sacrifice and no game time.
One thing I will say about the Armagh lads is theres a panel of maybe 43 plus and everyone buys in regardless of gametime. Obviously theres a good few lads down the pecking order that get to play club games as well
