General discussion / Re: The Household charge
March 31, 2012, 11:57:09 PM
Lads I got a card through the door during the week there, A5 double sided, full colour, Household Charge - final reminder basically giving all the details of what the money is for, where you can pay, who is liable, exempt etc.

Anyway I was wondering was this sent to every house in the country?  Or just to a list of people who hadn't paid by whatever day they had sent it out?

In any case, I feel this was an unnecessary waste of money on behalf of the government (printing out x million amount of leaflets, distribution via, I assume, an post who will require to be paid as well).  Probably cost the equivalent of 5% of the total amount of households that have already paid the tax!

I can't get the hang of google+ at all, it just seems like a status update thing rather than interaction??

Thanks MDG, might just get it from a ticket van on the day!

Just google mapped my route from Cork...estimated fuel cost for a standard petrol car €35 each way!!!  No wonder the Cork lads aren't chomping at the bit to get to this match!!  How much are the tickets anyway?

According to O'Neill's facebook page Down will be playing in the new black away jersey:

O'Neills Sportswear
can formally announce that Down will be playing in their NEW BLACK AWAY jersey this Saturday! The team will have a collar on the jersey but this exclusive to the Down players ONLY!! The official supporters jersey will be the one Shown... Click here to support your county and wear your colours with pride!!!! http://www.oneills.com/productdetails/2932/down-2011-gaa-goalkeeper-jersey.aspx

which when you click on the link is the GK jersey.  O'Neill's are pure money grabbing b******s!!  What's wrong with the yellow jersey!

Thomas Kane is far more eloquent, this is obvious from the small snippets we hear from him when Mark Sidebottom asks him from action from the sideline before cutting him off short etc etc and also from his interviewing skills... I don't understand why the BBC haven't realised this.

I made a wee page on facebook he annoyed me that much with his senseless ramblings and annoying way of commentating, I think Thomas Kane should be commentating he would be far better.  Anyway if you want to like the page search for 'Thomas Kane to replace Mark Sidebottom on The Championship'.

Near the city centre there is the River Lee hotel (used to be Jurys), handy spot for getting in and out of town.  Plenty of B&B's along Western Rd too.  Further out would be Rochestown Park, Midleton Park Hotel, Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig.  For the craic, try Reardens on Washington St or have a dander around the place and see if you see anywhere you like yourself, city centre is quite contained and easy enough to get around!  Enjoy!  :)
